1. Hey Dayton remember this guy  ;D ;D ;D Crosby QB sets sights on TCU By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published July 13, 2010 CROSBY — His quickness allows Dominic Merka the ability to get through the first line of defense — or around it — and his speed means there aren’t many who can outrun him down the sidelines, or in the open field. That 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash helped the Crosby quarterback to run for more than 1,000 yards while passing for more than 1,500 yards last fall, when he led the Cougars to the third round of the Class 4A playoffs. It also commanded the attention of a number of Division I football recruiters last spring. From a list of suitors that included Baylor and Utah, Merka has decided to cast his lot with TCU, the 2009 champions of the Mountain West Athletic Conference. TCU, 12-1 last season, ranked No. 6 in the final polls by both The Associated Press and USA Today Top 25s. “They’ve got a good program,” Merka said of the Horned Frogs, who have enjoyed three Top 10 finishes in the past five years. “They kind of liked me from the get-go. They showed a lot of interest since I went to their camp.” Merka attended football camps put on by TCU, Texas A&M, Baylor and Oklahoma State during the summer of 2009. “I went to TCU’s Junior Day and really liked their campus,” said the 6-foot-4, 210-pound senior. “It was one of those places where I really felt comfortable. “Then I went to their spring game and I really liked that. They were getting after it, taking care of business.” The All-District quarterback for Crosby’s District 19-4A champions, Merka could wind up playing other positions for TCU. “They say they’re going to start me off at quarterback and work with me a lot,” he said. “But they say I’ve got the size and speed to move to tight end, also.” No question where he’ll play for the Cougars this fall as they try to improve on last year’s 10-3 mark, which included a perfect 7-0 record in their district. “There’s a little bit of pressure knowing that last year we went undefeated in district,” allows Merka, who joins wideout Forrest Tyler as the only returning starters among Crosby’s offensive skill positions. “We’ll be the team to beat in district, no doubt about it. And we’ve got a tough pre-district season, with Montgomery, Port Neches-Groves and Pearland Dawson.” PN-G defeated Crosby during an 0-2 preseason for the Cougars last year. Merka’s team narrowly defeated Montgomery in the playoffs, then fell to Dawson in the Class 4A Division I regional quarterfinals. “It’s going to be a real test to see where we are,” he said of the pre-district games. “I think it’s going to help us get ready for district.” Having made his college decision already, the quarterback won’t have to worry a lot about recruiting next fall. “That kind of relieves the stress,” he said. “That’s one thing I won’t have to worry about.”
 2. Thats why there are two halfs to a game, but the first half was priceless! When the band would stop playing you could almost hear the mighty Bronco's fans heads deflating  ;D After the woodsheed beat down that Crosby gave them the week before there wasn't much more deflating that could happen. I wonder how many Dayton fans will return the board after a BH beat down ;D

Thanks for the twelve thousand dollar upgrades, they make motorboating so much fun. Ladies love winners.
You mean after all of them farm animals you still got some energy left for Women????? No wonder yall are good at football! oh and the white around your avatars mouth says it all for me ;D
We obviously have more "energy" than our BH counterparts.  Are you trying to say that we are good at football because your women let us score at will?  I guess its no surprise because your ladies are like your football team...no defense.  You should really teach them not to give up the end zone so quickly. Oh and what do you have against powdered donuts, I think they are delicious.
Ahh isn't that sweet how Brenham has turned into you post cheerleader ;D Our ladies live in BH for a reason if you see one in Dayton they have hit rock bottom hmmm you may be on to something though maybe thats our dayton turrned the way it is through BH outcast! nah its in breading who am i kidding ;D
Talk up the smack all ya'll want but on paper Dayton's 09 stats prove the nucleus is in place they're the team to beat. What puzzles me is 3 mediocre seasons 07-09 BH was 14 wins-17 losses but in 8 seasons prior 99-06 former BH HC Price was (80 wins-14 losses and he's gone)Careful what you wish for. Bronco HC Stewart 99-06 was( 64 wins-29 losses)and we love it enuff to name the stadium after him and give him a raise since 07-09 he's 38-9. 8) ::) ;D
If I found someone to make Dayton better I would have named the stadium after him too ;D
 6.
I am not sure about the rest of the Dayton faithful, but I am just glad to see the Barbers Hill fan stop praising the Broncos and shrugging off the beat downs.  It has been hard to hate on them with all the praise they have offered the last few years.  I think you BHfan for bringing back the dislike for you god foresaken town.  I feel good hating Crosby and disliking Barbers Hill again. thanks again!!
All that hate and dislike still won't get you out of flipping burgers in Dayton the rest of your life ;D What's it feal like for daytonians  to know that they will be working for Corsby and Mont Belvieu people one day ???

If you didn't see that then you should take the Purple glasses off. Although Dayton was down a QB BH was in controll of that game till after the half then Stewart took Price to school on coaching and how to make an adjustment. I don't think Stewart will out fox Cage as easily. Cant wait for the game!
The Dayton defensive performance against BH was one of the worst that I saw from them all last year.  My favorite part of the BH game was when all the hill fans thought they actually had a chance to win and then drove back down 146 proud that they didn't get beat as bad as they did the previous year. I can't wait for Dayton to smash off on the hill AGAIN and then enjoy all the convo's about how BH girls basketball is great and payback will happen on the Tennis court.
Don't forget that one act play is right around the corner after football season. BH should be proud of the first half. Herrera took two quarters to get used to the speed of the game from bumping up from JV to Varsity, then he toasted the Eagles defense for 21 points in about 7 minutes.  After playing the likes of Elkins, Angleton, and IKE if the Broncos are healthy going into the BH game, BH fans might as well start popping the anti-depression pills because it will be a long night at Broncos stadium.  Need I remind BH fans that the only football team to beat Dayton last year was the 8th grade A team.....
The players didn't burn BH in that game Stewart did! I bet Stewart and Herrera was wondering "good lord how many more times is BH going to let us throw this 8 yard curl" I bet Stewart could have put the center in the QB spot during that scoring with the same results ;D Any who good luck against the current staff doing that! your DB's might actually have to key on more than one player in our next meeting.

Don't beleive the Dayton Hype Brenham BH has had a couple of weaker classes come through the last two years we are note as bad as Dayton thinks.

 12. Griffin leaves GCM for Barbers Hill By Nathan Hague The Baytown Sun Published July 7, 2010 Former Goose Creek Memorial offensive line coach Buddy Griffin recently left the school for Barbers Hill High School where he’ll coach the Eagles’ offensive line. “The main reason it intrigued me was the fact they’re running a triple option type of offense,” Griffin said. “That’s the offense I’ve always been associated with, so that’s the main reason, and the fact is that it’s a good chance to work with coach (Ronnie) Gage. He’s a great coach.” Griffin hadn’t worked with Gage in the past but he knows people that have and he said he looks forward to the opportunity. “We’ve had a lot of the same acquaintances from the past that shared their experiences,” he said. “Some of the people I‘ve worked with knew him very well, and that was part of the connection.” Griffin hasn’t had the chance to meet all of his newplayers yet, but says he knows enough about them that it gets him excited about coaching the Eagles. “I really haven’t had a chance to see all of them at this point,” he said. “The fact that they have all been through spring ball together gives them a jumpstart. I’m really excited about this new opportunity.” Griffin was at Goose Creek Memorial in its first two years of existence, and said the decision to leave was a tough one to make. “I think any time you have the opportunity of coaching, the experiences you gain continue to help you grow as coach,” he said. “I’ve enjoyed every opportunity I’ve had coaching with Coach (Bret) Boyd. He’s running a great program and it was a great opportunity to come in and start new with him. “It was a difficult decision, but I felt like it was a good move at this time, especially with the options in front of me.” Although he will be working in Mont Belvieu, Griffin will still reside in Baytown. Apart from coaching, he will also teach history at Barbers Hill.

 15. Only one that I can remember for BH recently. BH vs. West Columbia in 3A @ West Culombia Mason Fisher made a awesome leaping catch in the corner of the endzone with about 8 Seconds left to win the game. Had a chance agaisnt Kirbyville in the playoffs, but blew the game with 25 Seconds to go and 90 yards in which Kirbyville scored and moved on!!
 16. From the Houston Chronicle these are huge accompishment by both schools! In 5A The Woodland won both cups for 5A. For The Brenham high school programs, those three words rang true during the 2009-10 sports season. By winning throughout the fall, winter and spring months, the Cubs shined brightest in across-the-board athletic achievement to claim the 2009-10 Chronicle Cup awards. Brenham is a first-time winner, taking the 4A crown with 118.5 points — just two more than runner-up Kingwood Park. Brenham had a banner year from its team sports programs. In the fall, the football and volleyball teams made runs to their respective state championship games before falling in the finals. But in the spring, the baseball team closed the deal on its seventh state baseball championship. "It was great for our school, great for our town and great for the coaches, too, all the way across," Brenham football coach and athletic director Glen West said. "I think we all fed off of each other." The Cubs finished third in the 4A Lone Star Cup standings. Friendswood won the Lone Star Cup, which also recognizes academic performance, earlier this week. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the second straight year, Friendswood stood tallest in the University Interscholastic League. The school was named the UIL’s Class 4A Lone Star Cup winners for the 2009-10 school year. The Lone Star Cup recognizes high schools based on their overall team achievement in athletic and academic championships. All UIL member high schools in good standing are included for contention for the UIL Lone Star Cup. Friendswood had another strong year athletically, but the Mustangs’ academic performance gave them the final boost needed to win their second Cup. The Mustangs won their fifth consecutive state academic championship and eighth overall. Every athletic program in a team sport not only qualified for the playoffs but advanced at
 17. I think the Broncos are going to go 1-2 in preseason with a possible win over Angelton. Ike by 30+ Elkins by 20+ and Broncos by 3 over Angelton. That being said BH will get to deal with a pissed off Bronco team at their house :o Hopefully BH will be settling into their new scheme and give the Bronco's a game. I don't think the Broncos will be seeing a 80-90% running game from BH as Cages teams in the past had a pretty balanced Run to Air ratio, but we will see ;D
 18. North Shore Vs. Houston Madison! Not sure of the year ,but it was my first time to see Vince Young. The game was at the Dome and ended up somethin like 63-61 Madison. Both teams were highly athletic and couldn't stop each other it was just a track meet!!!
 19. Dayton would match up better against these team later in the year. Dayton seems to be a traditional slow starter, but picks up speed once district begins. I think the slow start is all part of Stewart getting them ready though.
 20. I would not base anything that you have seen under Prices BH. I think the new BH will be a different animal 8) I just cannot see the current staff making BH anything but better!
 21. No wonder the grass is so green at the 50 yard line ;D You guys should sell that crap ;D ;D Oh and I don't think I will ever be jealous of Dayton LOL I'm content being from a town that perfoms all year around and not just during football. You never know though if yall win State I just might sell the house and move a Double Wide out there and paint it Purple ;D Dayton will be better that BH this year, but I still think Crosby takes the #1 spot.
 22.
For Lee right now it comes down to not having enough kids in the program. I think they have 7-10 seniors this coming year. They may have had 65 kids total in the spring game I saw. I don't even know if that's enough to field a JV squad.  It's going to be tight. Lee does have some very talented juniors and sophomores right now. They have probably 2-4 D1 athletes and another 4-5 guys that could play at smaller colleges. Then, the drop off is pretty substantial after those top 8 guys.  They don't have a whole lot of those typical pretty good athletes that fill in the holes on a high school football team. They either have borderline college recruits or guys that should be on JV. You know the old saying of you're only as good as your weakest link.  Well that holds true for football too, particularly if you have 8 really good links and 14 weak links. I'm not trying to give an indictment to any of the Lee players.  They all try hard.
Yall be fine! Good news is you don't have to field that in 5A this year ;D
 23.
Vandalism at DHS was done by your people
You mean it was BH football players that took all of them laptops  ??? Then how did the Dayton coach kick them off the team ;D
