believe it or not, coach gage has proved himself statewide. hope his spring goes well without outside help.  he is more than qualified to evaluate the talent, even if he is from the north. as some say, he has forgotten more than most will ever know. he will make a difference at bh.
Sooooooooooooooooo True :D The man doesn't need to prove his self at BH! BH has never in it's history had a coach with such a resum'e! Does this mean we are state bound NOOOOOO, but I do think that we will finially get to see if BH has athletes or not. I think we do! It may not by D1 talent, but these kids are athletic enough to be competitive! Spring drills are a must this year IMO when implementing a new system, but like PNG I don't think BH will take long to adapt. one thing the BH team seems to have is a high level of intelligence which will make this transistion alot smoother IMO. Can't wait for the season!!
I've heard, even though getting up in age, Price still has seductive charm!
This has to be true because there are several male posters on here wanting to have his next baby ;D ;D ;D I think Skeeter would make a good mommy 8) hopefully the baby will have prices looks :-\
 3. Awesome!! Good move! The new staff will need this time game 1 will be here before you know it :)
 4. Not sure about how the athletics are or have been going at HF, but Coach Price should better the HF athletic program as a whole. Hampshire has some good kids and are willing to play their heart out as I remember the meetings between BH and HF. BH may have gotten the W a lot of times but HF made them earn it each time!! However don't start losing or the Price Crushers will start talking about the lack of athletes in HF! You will find it is never the Coaches fault that you lose a game it will be the lack of Talent, Parents, School Board and Gravity! Good Luck HF
 5. Coach Price's wife better watch out there seems to be an aweful lot of Man Crushes going his direction ;D ;D BH had a hard enough time beating HF with twice the enrollment in 3A! With that said I don't know how he would be the front runner for this spot unless he can do more with less. However I do think Coach Price would improve HF athletics. Rebel change you name to Rebel4Price it would make more sense ;D

First off I don't believe one thing that Trucked has spewed and will wait to rely on folks that didn't have (As one poster put it )a man crush on Price to provide information. It may have happened and I may not have, but to start your first post with the beginning of "Well you bunch of BH whiners" and then CRY three paragraphs is hilarious; D I have never seen such a bunch of sore losers in my life! Those that are supposed to be here for BH only care that there buddy is no longer in power! BH needed a change sorry you could not see this, but if this thing would have went to the polls for a vote we would have ended up with the same result! This is not the boards fault or the Supers fault, Price has to have some fault in his departure whether you choose to believe it or not. Coach Gage has nothing to fear at BH and will get the same support that Price enjoyed for most of his career at BH, but if 10 years from now BH hasn’t made it past a second round appearance then Gage will fall into the same barrel. Is it Fair? Heck no! Is this what a Coach should expect? If not you should find job at a plant where you can work for 30 years regardless of  what you do because you are a Good Ole Boy. Can someone pass me a tissue please  :'(
What you choose to believe matters not to me. It will come out. All I'm saying is let Gage come in fresh and let HIM make the decisions on who to keep. And as far as a man crush, read back through this thread and see how many times the haters brought up the ex AD's name. That's whats funny, it's as if you guys  have just realized you won't be able to bash the AD in charge anymore but you just can't help yourself. I hope coach Gage is extremely sucessful because he is at BH, unfortunately there is just a lot of baggage that goes with a BH job these days. Now where is that red pen?
Bashing is a word that is thrown out allot ,but in reality if you give an Opinion that is not liked by coach clicks then you are a basher 8) This baggage you speak of is at every school and is no worse at BH. Like I have said before I don't wish for anyone to lose their job especially in these screwed up times, but if they are as good and well respected as most believe then they should have know problem finding a place to work. Goodluck to the past and future adminstration at BH

I haven't seen anything on stadium improvements, but I would think they are not far away ;D BH needs better Visitor stands & some Turf! 16. Congrats Nederland! Goodluck in the next round Nederland bounces Barbers Hill boys From sports staff reports Baytown Sun Published February 24, 2010 WINNIE – Nederland jumped to a big first-quarter lead and maintained it throughout the game Tuesday night to defeat Barbers Hill 65-49 in Class 4A bidistrict boys action at East Chambers High. It was the first boys basketball playoff win for Nederland in 55 years. The Bulldogs are celebrating their first district championship in 54 years. Dionte Forney led Nederland with 16 points and seven rebounds. Guard Dillon Campbell scored 15 points and Kelvin Smith added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs, now 20-14. Barbers Hill, which bowed out at 22-11, was led by Austin Crawley with 15 points. Daniel Mitchell and Carson Asbury scored 12 points each. Nederland, the District 20-4A co-champion, led 21-12 after the first quarter, 31-23 at halftime and 44-35 entering the final period. The Bulldogs were the only 20-4A team to advance as Ozen fell to Kingwood Park 53-45 in two overtimes; Galena Park defeated Central 60-47; and C.E. King pounded Livingston 77-57.
 17. Tough break for the girls ,but what a great season!! Congrats Lady Eagles Lady Cardinals rally past BH By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published February 24, 2010 BRENHAM – Neither rain, nor sleet nor an unusual February snowfall could keep the Barbers Hill Lady Eagles from their appointment at Blinn College for Tuesday night’s Class 4A Region III quarterfinal basketball playoff. But the Del Valle girls kept the Lady Eagles from reaching this weekend’s regional tournament, rallying from 13 points down with 6 minutes, 34 seconds left to win 47-45. The Lady Cardinals outscored Barbers Hill 19-4 down the stretch to win 47-45 on Summer Postell’s bucket with 2.1 seconds remaining. The final two of Postell’s game-high 17 points gave Del Valle its only lead of the game. After a timeout, Jill Coon inbounded for Barbers Hill and heaved the ball three quarters of the court to teammate Jenna Silva, who dribbled once and lofted a 23-footer that drew iron and caromed off to the right of the bucket as the buzzer sounded. “I thought we played a heck of a game,” said Barbers Hill coach John Chancellor. ‘We just came up one bucket short at the end.” Barbers Hill’s season ends at 29-6 while Del Valle, the 11th-ranked team in the state at 34-2, continues to this weekend’s III-4A regional tournament in Aldine. Guard Jessica Peralez hit three first-half 3-pointers for nearly half of Del Valle’s 22 first-half points and finished with 14. Silva led Barbers Hill with 11 points and fellow guard Carli Manchaca added 10. Teammates Jasmine Carter added nine points as the Lady Cards held the Lady Eagles’ season scoring leader, Kendall Shaw, to just six points. “In the first half, they put bodies on her and we couldn’t get her the ball,” Chancellor said of his 6-foot-4 sophomore. “In the second half, they put so much pressure on our guards, they couldn’t see her.” At the end of the first half, after Barbers Hill had led by as many as 10 points, Del Valle charged back to get within 23-22 at intermission. Barbers Hill ran its lead back up to 11 points at 33-22 by shutting Del Valle out until the final 1:35 of the third period, at which time the Lady Cards, led by Peralez, closed to 33-28. Jasmine Carter made it 35-28 entering the final period after she sunk two free throws with 1 tick left in the third. Then Shaw hit a pair of freebies, Manchaca scored off her own steal and Silva drove for a layup with 6:34 left in the game. Barbers Hill led 41-28. Del Valle outscored the Lady Eagles 12-1 in the next four and a half minutes to tie the game at 42-all. Postell, a 6-foot junior, scored seven of those points and guard Jametria Green hit a pair of jumpers. Monique McElveen, a 5-9 junior post, snared several key rebounds and the Lady Cards forced six Barbers Hill turnovers in the final period. “They put people on us at halfcourt and we turned the ball over,” Chancellor said. “When they started doing the drive-and-kick, we knew what was coming, but we couldn’t stop them.” Paris Carter hit 1 of 2 free throws to give Barbers Hill a slim lead with 1:33 left but Postell matched her for a 43-all tie with 1:19 to go. Two free throws by Joslinn Douglas put Del Valle up 45-43 with 1:15 to go and Silva knotted the game up again on a drive and pullup jumper with 40 seconds to go. The Lady Cardinals ran the clock down before shooting twice and missing. Each time the rebound went to Del Valle. Finally, Postell worked herself free under the basket and lobbed in a basket just out of Shaw’s reach with 2.1 seconds to go. “They outscored us 19-10 in the fourth quarter,” Chancellor said. “If we don’t give up 19, we win big.”
 18. Lady Eagles 1 win from regionals By Dave Rogers The Baytown Sun Published February 23, 2010 MONT BELVIEU — The Barbers Hill girls’ basketball team played most of the season with a nine-player roster. They added three more for the playoffs and coach John Chancellor likes it that way. “I like our rotation,” the coach said. “I don’t have a problem with it (having grown). In fact, I like the extended rotation. The kids up from the JV have really done a good job. “I think our strength is our depth. It allows us to do a lot of things. We can put a lot of pressure on people, we can run people and we can have fresh legs at the end of the game.” Those ideas could get a test tonight when the Lady Eagles take on the Del Valle Lady Cardinals in a Class 4A Region III quarterfinal matchup at Blinn Junior College in Brenham. Game time is 7:45 p.m. Del Valle, ranked No. 11 in the state and 33-2 overall, only plays about six players a game, Chancellor said. “They try to spread the floor and play at a controlled pace. They don’t do a lot of running up and down. They’re much more of a ball-control offense.” The Cardinals are led by Monique McElveen, a post player who averages a double-double and scored 16 in Del Valle’s 45-29 win over Livingston in the area round. “She’s the main focal point of the team,” Chancellor said. “She’s a very well coached player. But they’ve actually got two strong post players and a good quick point guard. Their two-guard is a good 3-point shooter and the other guard is a defensive specialist.” Center Kendall Shaw has led 28-5 and No. 14-ranked Barbers Hill in scoring during the season and again in the playoffs, scoring 24 points in bidistrict and 18 points against Willis. But the Lady Eagles guards have put on a clinic when it comes to ball-handling, ball-stealing and outside shooting. In Friday’s 67-55 win over Willis, guard Carli Manchaca had three 3-pointers and 15 points. If Barbers Hill’s girls can pick up their third playoff win, they would advance the the Region III-4A tournament Friday and Saturday at Aldine’s Campbell Center. That would be a first under Chancellor, their fifth-year coach. “It would be nice to win and go play in regional,” the coach allowed. “But we’ve got to play. Just get after it and go play.”
 19. Eagles look to Nederland in playoff game By Nathan Hague The Baytown Sun Published February 23, 2010 MONT BELVIEU — The Barbers Hill Eagles tipped off their basketball season with a 33-27 win over Nederland, and now, in the opening round of the playoffs, the 22-11 Eagles are set to take on the Bulldogs again. The Class 4A bidistrict tilt is set for Tuesday at 8 p.m. at East Chambers High School in Winnie. “We played them the first game of the season but I think the players have forgotten about that game,” Barbers Hill coach Nathan Toon said. “I know the coaches have. It was a long time ago and they’re a lot better now. But we’re a better team, too, so it evens out. “I think they’re (the Bulldogs) still fired up after winning district.” Nederland finished the season win an overall 19-14 record and won district for the first time since 1956. Nederland hasn’t won a playoff game since 1955. The Bulldogs tied Ozen for the 20-4A title and beat Ozen 70-64 in double overtime Friday night to lock up their district’s top playoff seed. Toon said he expects a large crowd for Tuesday’s showdown. “I think it will be a fun environment,” he said. “Both schools bring great crowds and it’s a fun game for the players, and a good playoff game. I bet it will be a low-scoring close game.” Nederland is a zone defensive team, something Toon said his team needs to attack in order to win. “Our guys are confident,” Toon said. “We just need to instill that aggressiveness on offense, attack it and look for the shot instead of passing the ball around for 12 or 15 passes. If they have confidence in their shot, they’ll knock it down.” Defensively, the Eagles’ focus will be down low to try to stop Dionte Forney and Kelvin Smith. Forney is averaging 13.5 points per game while Smith is averaging 12.5. “Their biggest strength is their two post players,” Toon said. “They’re athletic, aggressive and they finish well. They’re a good offensive rebounding team. We know what they’re going to do and they know what we’re going to do. “It will come down to which team executes the best philosophy.”
 20. Agreed (On the Crazy part)! BH is getting alot of respect. I don't think BH is at the point to know how good or bad they are going to be this year :) I hope it falls out that way, but GCM and KP have their entire teams back while BH returns 1-2 starters.

 23. It’s really encouraging. The foundation of what we want from our kids is in place.” Then in another statement he says “Some of those kids can’t walk and chew gum at once but a couple months on those things make a world of difference.” To me, the latter quote is not a positive one.  Wont the athletes at BH read this?  How will they feel about their new HC when they see this?
Stranger I think you may be reading into those Quotes to much. The Quote about the Jump ropes I believe he is refering to kids he has coached in the past not the current BH players The fondation that he is speaking about was no way built completely by this staff of coaches! BH kids have a good fondation because of the Parents and Teachers that work their butts off turning BH kids into BH Kids! Coaches are benifiting from the fondation that was given to them IMO.

I've just been sitting back reading and listening to all the comments until I got my fill of the bashing of the BH parents and fans. This is a very special place to me and the people here are something to be very proud of as a group. As I said before there are some knuckleheads but you get that everywhere. The change was long overdue and the attitudes of the supporters of the old staff just makes that even more evident to me. Some people hate to see the change because they feel like they're losing their grip on something that they had total control over in some way. Some people , could be some of the old staff, select parents, a school board member, bhisd employees, or some of all of those listed. BH is a special place and it should be treated as such! In Coach Gage, I think we have a man that will get us going in that direction! ;D
Well I've been hear on the board defending BH's fine name for along time. It's nice to see some folks that see what I and others have seen over the past several years! I was beginning to think that BH89 and some others were the only ones thinking that our current situation was as bad as it is. Whether you try to piss off folks or not we have been slammed in the dirt for any comments made on this site against the great dictator  ;D ;D  anywho welcome aboard its going to be a great season for BH!!
