From the sports report. Dont know what class St. Thomas is. St. Thomas More of Louisiana opened an 11 point lead after the first quarter enroute to a 66-46 rout of Barbers Hill in the second round of the Lee College Classic. Brooks Ybarra lead the Eagles with 15 and Micah Moore had 11. Barbers Hill will be paired against district opponent Crosby who lost to Lafayette La. 63-60 for the 3rd place game Saturday at 6:30.

Barbers Hill opened the Lee College Classic by defeating Class 5A Sam Rayburn by a score of 63-61. The Eagles will play the winner of Baytown Sterling/St. Thomas More at 8:00 Friday night. Barbers Hill is now 9-2 for the year. Congrats Eagles

:shock: from The Baytown Sun MONT BELVIEU — Barbers Hill’s Brooks Ybarra struggled for 31 minutes and 40 seconds against Lufkin Tuesday night but he was golden in the game’s final 20 seconds. Ybarra’s 40-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer provided the winning margin, as the Eagles ran their winning streak to six games in a 61-59 victory over the Panthers. The lead changed hands five times in the final minute and four times in the final 20 seconds, before Ybarra’s game-winning heave sent Class 5A Lufkin back into the Piney Woods as a hard-luck loser. With 20 seconds remaining, the Panthers held a 57-54 lead. Barbers Hill’s Mason Fisher hit a jumper to cut the lead to 57-56, and then Ybarra stole the inbounds pass and scored to put the Eagles in front, 58-57, with 8 seconds remaining. But Lufkin came down and hit short jumper to go in front, 59-58 with 2.5 seconds left. Following a timeout, the Eagles inbounded the ball to Fisher, who passed to Ybarra. Ybarra took one dribble and then heaved home the game-winner as the clock expired. “I kept trying to think of something during the timeout,†Barbers Hill coach Nathan Toon said. “Finally I told them, y’all make a play. They did it on their own.†Fisher led Barbers Hill (8-2) with 22 points, while Jon Daniels had 10. Matt Gilbert finished with 8, and Michael Davis, Ybarra, and Ian Hamlin each had 7. “Our role players stepped up tonight, with Brooks (Ybarra) having an off night,†Toon said. “Jon Daniels played well and Ian Hamlin hit some big shots. He had a big 3 in the fourth quarter.†Mario Gebrekidan paced the Panthers with 17 and Kelverett Mattox added 12. The Eagles led 33-21 at intermission, but Lufkin went on a 21-11 run in the third quarter to trim the Eagles’ lead to 44-42 entering the final frame. The Panthers led most of the fourth quarter, until the final minute. Barbers Hill will return to action Thursday in the first round of the Lee College Tournament, when they will battle Pasadena Rayburn at 6:30 p.m. The Eagles won the championship of the Port Aransas Tournament last weekend.

BH will be competitive ,but they will lose a ton of talent. Should be returning a good piece of the O line. D will be hurting, but will return a very good LB in Sexton. All in all BH should reload and compete for the district title. This years Freshman class should be a good one once they move up!!!

BH Boys to Defend Crown at Aransas Pass The Barbers Hill varsity boys basketball will look to defend their championship when participate in the 33rd Annual Aransas Pass "Best of the Bay" Basketball Tournament. The tournament is a round-robin with each team playing the other four. Below is ths schedule for BH. I tell you what is crazy and that is when BH was smack talking early in the year we received warnings and most of our post were deleted!! Every idiot on this site has taken a shot at BH while the Moderators look the other way. I wish the Admin for this site would at least have a basic entrance exam before letting any one that has a computer Mod the board. The only Mod on this board worth a dang is Coop most of you should take note of how a Mod should act a run a board. I know there are other good Mods on here ,but COOP is the one that sticks out at being the most non Bias Mod.

My assesment of the game was that it all came down to which team did their homework. Texas City new exactly what Dayton was going to do and Dayton took to long to adjust. Once Dayton did adjust they played Texas City well, but it was after a 21-0 spot. I've seen this to many times at BH and it kills me!! I.m not starting a coach bashing thread just my Opinion. I hated to see Dayton go down like that. Good luck broncos in your upcoming season of Basketball, Baseball & Track!!

BH sports report: I wonder if the football kids are back?? I saw where Bradshaw plyed in the last game ,but where's Mason?? Barbers Hill was limited to only 16 points in the first half as they fell on the road to Santa Fe by the score of 55-46. Brooks Ybarra lead the Eagles with 16 points. BH is now 2-2 for the year. The Eagles return to action next Tuesday when they host Port Neches-Groves.
