By Chris Chase It was assumed he was called "King James" because he reigns on the basketball court. But maybe LeBron James earned that nickname due to his tyrannical ways (in dealing with embarrassment). On Monday, Jordan Crawford, a sophomore at Xavier (by way of Indiana), reportedly dunked on LeBron during a pick-up game at the LeBron James Skills Academy. Garry Parrish of CBSSports.com wrote that one high school player said, "it was bad". (We can only assume he meant "bad" in the Michael Jackson sort of way.) LeBron must have agreed, because he had Nike officials confiscate the two videos that were taken of the dunk. (Parrish blames Nike, but reading between the lines it seems like the censorship was orchestrated by LeBron himself.) Ryan Miller, a freelance photographer who was working at the camp that day, told CBSSports.com: "LeBron called [Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt] over and told him something," Miller said. "That's how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, 'Hey, Lynn. Come here.'" A few minutes later, Miller's tape was confiscated. Connecting the dots, it seems clear that LeBron didn't want video leaking out of him getting dunked on by a college sophomore, so he told a Nike official to get the tape. It was an understandable reflex move (gotta protect the image), but it also unnecessarily makes a mountain out of a molehill. The Crawford dunk would have been a temporary embarrassment for LeBron. Let's say the video was put on YouTube. It blows up for a bit, dominates blogs for 36 hours, everyone has a good chuckle and then it's forgotten about. But by censoring the tape, LeBron turns the dunk into a legend. On video, it's just a dunk. Without video, the jam can reach mythic proportions. Because nobody can see it, the story of the dunk will grow in stature with each telling. Today, it was a simple two-handed slam. In a few days, it will be a 360-degree windmill. By the time Crawford makes his Xavier debut in October, he will have jumped off LeBron's shoulders, flipped in the air, slammed the ball home with his left pinkie and then handed LeBron $3.99 for his dry cleaning. Without the video, we'll never know. Although, given his past history, I think it's safe to say that LeBron probably walked off the court without shaking Crawford's hand.

OMG! seriously, how many times do they have to show venturas stats??? we get it, he had a nice college career! > -
I'm just making a prediction...when the dust settles on this thing, I believe we'll see that it doesn't matter if the parent is employed by a district or not. If the home address for the student is outside the district, he/she is a transfer and all transfer rules apply. again, JMO. We have several kids going to school where I live with parents being employed by the district. Every year we have to approve a transfer list and those kids with employed parents are on the list to be approved with all other transfers. I guess someone will figure it out one way or another soon enough, interesting topic though. I guess my concern is a little different than OF... being WOS is an open district does losing one year of varsity apply? Being an open campus you can live wherever and still attend.

Sylvia pulled from Afflictions card!
venom33 replied to venom33's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
thats because when they sign with the ufc they sign away their "likeness," it allows the ufc to use it for a certain period of time. isnt arlovski on the game also? -

outscore every team they play? :-\ -
i know this is off topic but can someone please explain to me WHY every game they HAVE to bring up robin ventura? they either talk about him or they show his stats every single game! it doesnt matter whether hes part of the broadcast team or not... i mean we get it, he was a great college player. just curious. :-\

Not only was he pulled from the Affliction card, but he expressed interest in ending his career with the UFC... heres what Dana had to say. Former two time UFC chmpion Tim Sylvia (24-5) recently talked to Fighters Only Magazine expressing interest that he would like to end his career with the UFC. However when the 33-year-old Maine-iac squared off against legendary Mercer, 48, in a mixed martial arts encounter that formed part of the Adrenaline III show in Birmingham, Alabama. Sylvia was knocked out 9 seconds into the bout by an overhand right which left the former champion on the canvas, forcing the referee to call an end to the bout. The president of the UFC, Dana white was vocal on his thoughts regarding Sylvia’s comments on returning to the UFC: “Are you kidding me, he seriously wants to return to the UFC?†asked White “He hasn’t won a fight in years and when he did he usually put eveyone to sleep, the only time he’s in an exciting fight is when he’s getting his [expletive] a$$ handed to him. Look, he just got beat by a near 50 year old in under 10 [expletive] seconds, how do you expect to be taken seriously after that? he just made MMA look like a complete joke. If he has any hopes of ending his career in (the) UFC he will have to go on TUF, there’s no other way he’s getting inâ€

ive been reading a few other sites and i cant understand why all of the ufc huggers are so butt hurt over what crocop decided to do for his future... theyre acting like scorned women! honestly how many times have you heard dana doing this and other garbage to fighters and dana finally gets a dose of his own medicine. crocop is the only one that is financially stable enough to not have to bow down to dana if he doesnt want to! they had a one fight deal and crocop honored that contract. what if he wouldve lost the fight do you think for one second dana wouldve honored their verbal agreement for two other fights??? as a fan he didnt hurt me at all, i dont give two craps where he fights i will tune in... i agree, i think he wanted a tune up fight before he fights overeem again just to see where hes at with the"comeback"... but i think overeem has rogers to worry about before anyone else. i guess time will tell.... -
from what ive read dana is wanting to try and sign barnett after the fedor fight and overeem. i think both is very possible! dont forget abouttuf 10 with all the new hw's. i give it to dana hes doing what it takes to get that division even stronger. ive watched the sylvia/mercer fight a few times also and i agree its PATHETIC!

hasnt he been fighting for dream????? i read that last night, from what i understood they only have a signature on that one fight but discussed two others with the ufc. seems dana got a little of his own medicine. i think crocop has unfinished business with overeem that he wouldnt be able to settle in the ufc. -
how so?? does this make kimbo look better because he beat mercer? does it make arlovski look better because he beat sylvia? i dont understand. have you seen the video? from what i understand there were modified mma rules for the match. sylvia got punched in the face with 4 ounce gloves by a professional boxer! im sure 99% of the people in the world wouldve folded like a chair also!
