1. "BlueRaider" has just posted what may be the most rediculous, uneducated comment I have seen on these forums yet.  To suggest that the Vidor coach quit is a pathetic Vidor fan (yes "vidor fan" in disguise - possibly the same one that has been questioning the Vidor coach all year) trying to blame a specific person whom he doesn't like or aprove of.  It is too convenient that your 1st post comes at the end of the season AND unless you were sitting on the Vidor side there is no way you could have "heard" a vidor fan make a comment about starters. I am pretty sure that is not something some one yells out.   I was at the game and no I am not a "fan" of either team.  I do respect both teams and both coaches.  I know Wedel and the man would no sooner quit the any other coach in the district. The truth of what happened is simple....experience.  Lumberton was more fired up and emotionaly ready for the big game than Vidor.  Understand me well though.  The lack of emotional readiness has nothing to do with the coaching on Vidor's part.  It has to do with the fact that Vidor has about 10 starting underclassmen. The constant bashing of Wedel by you (and "another" person) is pathetic.  Give Lumberton and their coach credit for their intense play and readiness (which you would be doing if you were a true blue raider fan (you wouldn't take the time in your celebration to insult the Vidor coach) and give the Vidor team and their coach credit for a great season (almost unbelievable 2nd half of district comeback).  The Vidor team and coach are heart broken I am sure.  Don't be a jerk and kick a man when he is down.  These coaches are under constant seasonal pressure from fans like you.  Think about it.  Wherever you work, have someone look over your shoulder the entire time and make constant critical comments.  Seriously, truely think about that for one minute.
2. I love it when fans criticize a teenager in a public forum (i.e. the Vidor goal keeper).  By the way, that statement was intended as sarcasm.   If you are an adult, control your “fan” emotions and swallow it. This may be “varsity” soccer but he is still a kid (who played his heart out).  If you are a kid making the comments, then stop complaining and go play.  If you are a kid that plays and are making public comments, then learn a lesson in life and talk to your team about the issue, not the world. Here is a lesson for all the “fans” out there. Before you criticize a player/teammate, ask yourself what it is going to accomplish for the team that you are so passionate about.  Is ridiculing the keeper and telling him he shouldn’t be playing there going to make him play better or possibly crush him so he plays worse the next game???  You don’t know?  Then I suggest you not take the chance. To the Vidor keeper:  Keep your head up kid.  You did not do a bad.  Don’t listen to the fans who are calling for your “job”.  The two goals scored were very good shots.  Not many keepers in this district (if any) would have been able to stop them.  Both shots came across goal.  One had height and one had angle.  Again, keep your head up kid.
3.
There is WAY to much value placed on the super gold team.
Agreed.  That is not to take anything away from the individuals who make the super gold team.  In truth they are all very solid players but for people "in the know" I would say that a few 2nd team super goal should be 1st team, a few 1st team should maybe be 2nd team and a few 2nd teamers are on there so that each team can have a rep. As far as the all district is concerned, the top awards are normally solid picks.  All of the first team and 2nd team deserve to be recognized.  The reason it may seem over kill for a few teams is because it is a slotted system.  So you just have to use your head when looking at it.  If a team has thirteen picks can you honestly say that 2 players from the "bench" are better than another teams starting line up (or at least their best three or four).  Probably not, but it is an incentive for athletes to try hard.  The higher they place the more recognitions are given.  That is not a bad thing for motivation.  Though some kids may laugh about the recognitions, most of them want to be recognized on some level.  And that is what it is all about...the kids.  All that being said, slotted system or not, the All District is picked by coaches.  The super gold is picked by..well, I am not really sure who picks it:)  Though I suspect it is picked by sports reporters who, as much as they may try, are not able to see most games.  The all district, if read properly, is a more accurate assessment of the talent on the pitch throughout the season.
4. No.  I think the information is not entirely correct. I know for a fact that Central was missing several "star" players the first half of district play.  These players returned for the second half of district play and was a major factor in the team making it to playoffs.  I do not believe there were any additional players in the playoff game that did not play the second half of district play.  Then again, I could be wrong because I did not see the playoff game.
