1. You don't need a big budget to go after the right people...  Ask McNeese, SFA, and Sam Houston...  They have all done it right here in the Southland.  Where Lamar has been the epitome of mediocrity!
2.

Sleepy you are new but probably you are one of those people that said Brown will never make it to UT or that Perk would never make it in the NBA?  Boutte has the knowledge and the name to get the players there and be successful!  I Boutte were at Lamar we would have  never lost kids like Clearance Matthews, Trey McDowel, Kris Richards, Keena Young, Hancocks (the many), Danahoe, etc. to schools outside of the area!!!! Gillespie sounds wonderful but he [glow=red,2,300]will not [/glow] go from big time D1 to the Southland...  Maybe the Mountain West, Conference USA, A-10, SWAC, or Horizon but not the Southland!!!! Gillespie still has an opportunity to get a job in a major conference!
Gillespie will be the new coach at UH so we don't have to worry about that. I never said Brown would not make it at UT.  While I worried about his attitude adjustment I was more than convinced he had the talent.  Don't get your panties in a wod either.  Nowhere did I say Boutte COULDN'T do the job I just said he WOULD'T get the job.  Settle down pal.  I like Boutte.  Tubbs ego is to big to try out on a former High School coach.
I wear boxers dude!!!  And they don't bunch up.. much!!! I guess Tubbs' ego would have been too high to hire John Wooden too?  get the right guy regardless of weather he is a past high school guy or college guy and he will win for you!
3.
Wasn't Boutte's name thrown around once b4?
Yes but these guys didn't know that... He also was almost a Tubbs assistant!!!  A decorated High School coach can be a good hire!  It will not be an embarrassment.  Plenty of schools have done it... It would be no worse than hiring a dercorated college assistant that totally blew the job!!!
4. Boute doesn't have to recruit, he just needs to get a guy who knows how to make it happen... Just like at KState or Baylor!!!!  Those head coaches coach... The assistance recruit!
5. The canidate that could get this job would suprise you!
6.
Did you really just rank the SWAC ahead of the Southland!!!!!!!!  HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!  I doubt that Gillispie will take ANY job in the SWAC!!!!
Yeah that was bad too Zeek... I deserve a shalacking for that one!
7. YUP, coach you are sooooo right! There is another job out there that Rock could land as an assistant with an old friend... But if it doesn't happen I can see Tubbs firing him!!! He is recruiting kids far away and not winning with them.  He is trying to recruit Major D1 kids too, which is a waste of money and time!!! kids that can play in the big 6 conferences will not play in the Southland!!

9. One word:  BOOOOOOOUTTE!
10. Is this the end?
11. Estacado won't be a easy win either!!! But Madison is the team to beat!  They can flat out play!  I hope Silsbee does it but beating Madison or Estacado won't be an easy win!
12. Oh! And last thing... That Texas Tech signee for Bellaire is over-rated, he should be in the Southland!  Bush had a kid that was going bald and had a 5 o' clock shadow!!!  The Strake fans would chant, "Grandpa, grandpa!" everytime he touched the ball Friday night.  It did not help that he also had an old school game!!  He had perfected the extinct art of the mid range jumper!
13. The last 3 minutes of the game I watched Bellaire Coach make three of the worse basketball calls I have ever seen. First bad call was going into stall ball when your team had gained the momentum and a little rhythm.  They finally had Bush winded and making mistakes, then he stalled and allowed them to rest.  And the fact that he stalled ball with the game tied is foolish and only allowed his team to get one shot... Stall when you are ahead... Second with about thirty seconds left he call a timeout when one of his players was going in for a lay-up because he wanted to last shot! WOW!!! The 6'10" soph had the entire Bellaire team scared to go into the lane the entire game.  Guys were throwing the ball too high, short handing shots, and getting them blocked when they went to the paint.  The first open lay-up in the second half with the big guy out of the lane and he called a TO without a lead! I told Walt after that I bet they get a jump shot or a contested lay-up that they wont make!! And that is exactly what happenned! Third, he went man on a under-the-basket out of bounds play with 1 second left on the clock!!!  EVERYBODY knows that he should have been in a zone!! And the gave up a last second shot and lost! That may have been the worse last three minutes of game calling I have ever seen!
14. They can be as high as a five seed...  The issue is the offense.  There are no easy buckets and too many one-on-one play. Barnes needs to make it easier on the freshmen.
15. They did not get into the offense until so late in the game!!!  No fluent offense until late in the second half.  They need to start that way!
16.
There is no team in the state of Texas in the last 15 years that could beat this Yates team. Maybe the 1999/00 Willowridge could but no one else. This team is like a ALLStar team of talent. Houston doesnt have zones so a child from North Houston can go to a school in south Houston if he or she chooses. Yates has 8 jr's on this team as well.
You are so wrong about this statement!
17. They lost to the hands down number one team... It happens!  HJ dont cont your eggs before they hatch! Nobodody remembers the Regional final a year from now... The only bragging right is to win State.  Good luck HJ!  Heads up for next year Kountze.
18. If if was a fifth, we'd all be drunk!  A&M did not win the first game... There is an L in the lose column that won't go away because of A&M fans IFs! End of conversation!
19.
Nonsense? I think most folks with any kind of basketball intelligence would say that A&M had no business losing to tu in Austin. That's the first time I have ever seen a team win a game where they never led at any time for the entire regulation. tu tied the game at the end, then won it in OT. A&M lost that game more than tu won it. But, a win is a win. I still say A&M is the better team. Not most talented, but better team of the two.
If they were THAT much better they would have never let the game be close enought to have the win snatched in the first match-up!  in a series on a nuetral court these kids would probably split games.  Texas shot awful (on open shots) Saturday and still was in a position to take the lead.  Anybody with basketball intellegence will see that the difference in these teams is at the PG and Sloan being a seasonned senior! Other than that fact, in 20 more games UT would split games with A&M every time!
20.
Aggies, plain and simple, the better team. A&M never should have lost to tu in Austin.
This series has been a home game winner contest... Then you say nonsense like that!  I do believe A&M is the more cohesive team though!  UT relies too much on the freshmen!
21. Blue is soo right... BMT is missing the height, the skill and the mindset.  Really starting to rebuild its face as a football city again.  But I remember times when all four skools had 6'5" players and taller.  Great guards and really good records.  I think it cycles for BMT and I see another cycl n about 2 years!
22. Gett'um Bullets... I saw some positives and some negatives last night.  Free throw shooting started hot but faded hard late.  We defended well and had really active hands... The Fact that Johnson can guard guards is amazing and it will mean alot to this team!!!  D. James is a monster.. J.Brown is not shooting well... That is a confidence thing... Barnes has his leach way too tight!  Mason took shots, and even with the misses it was a good strategy because we attacked the board!
23. Bellaire has the best talent but the worse coaching out of that bunch!
24. Hoop, you so right... Dvoe you so wrong... The Fortbend top three will give Bellaire fits.. And Don't leave out Kingwood!
