Why act as if you have never seen?

I did not say sportsmanship, I said coaching!!!! He has turned decent players into a great team, give him his props!!! Young is the only exceptional talent on the team and he is not better than D Gibson, DeCarlos Frank (smart though), TJ Ford, Daniel Ewing, Carlos Hurt, Kris Richards just to name a few! -
They over play the ball too much instead of playing position basketball!!! Usually they end up trailing the ball because of it!!! Leading to... penetration!
And I'll be here when I see that they are losing. ;D
Its almost funny how much Aggie student and Alumni hate Texas! UT worries about a National Championship and A&M worries about beating Texas! Texas wants to be the best while A&M just wants to be better than Texas! A&M = mediocrity because the goals are not set high enough!

I agree with you Ags, I just said we have seen it this decade! So I named teams within the past 10 years (decade=10 yrs) ;D I think their team is really good but they are far from the greats we have seen recently! And it is really low on individual talent. I really commend Wise for what he has done with this team and it is probably one of the greatest coach displays I have sen in recent times!!! (kinda like Ponder in the early 2000s)! Bullets, Peters would dunk on me but I would "J" him up! :o -

Milby beat them by 30, close ??? Ozen was really deep, they play a slow grinding game because of the BIG man in the middle, you don't run when you center is THAT dominant! Yates has no one that could play with Bosh, and Hopkins and Eaton were no slouches! And actually, that Wheatly team only had two sub 6' kid off the bench that were a big part of their press, there starting guards were actually 6', 6', 6'4 and 6'2" Finally have you looked at the Yates team? 6'4" 6'5" guards, where???? you are just talking... The top five guards are Gardner 5'9, Peters 6'1, Young 6'2, Lang 5'10 and Roy 6'2!!! One of the five starters is 6'7 and he plays the back of the press! You are obvously not up to speed with your data, please come with something better than guessing that you know what you are talking about! -
Bullets, Next UT game I will get on here with you!... I am usually too amped up to post but from now on... We will do this together whenever I can! It will be cool to bounce stuff off one another! As for the game... Tech shot really well and made this a tough one, but we still waited too long to pull away! If I can get Mason and Balbay that aggressive every game, Texas would be much better. Brown is in a mid season funk but it is because of hi youth... Also, I think Barnes is trying to break him like a wild Colt!!! His confidence will be back and better than ever! Bradely is not a PG by any means, he is a small two guard that at this point cannot create his own shot. He is a catch and shoot or catch and drive guy! But he has to get the ball in rthym. I am glad James finally stopped pressing, he was forcing too much and trying to do too much! Pittman has real touble guarding players that are not true Centers... All these power forwards and hybrid forwards are too qucik for him! Hamilton, just doesn't understand the game yet!

You guys literally talk as if you have never seen a team as good as Yates in history!! Just this decade there were at least four teams that would have given this Yates team a hard time and two that were head and shoulders better! Scoring alot of points are good but they could not do all of that with these teams that I am getting ready to name them! 39-0 Milby 2004 led by Jawann McClellan, and James Posey, National #4... 2002 40-0 Dallas Lincoln led by Chris Bosh and Bryan Hopkins, National #1, 2001 Ozen Panther lead by Albert Marshal and Kendrick Perkins was ritght here in your back yard, Nationa #3! I know you forget how good they were! Milby had good guard play and was led by a point forward that would be in the NBA if it wasn't for a severe knee injury in college! This team could play with yates because it had good guard play, Posey and McClellan were unstopable inside and McClellan could shoot as well as bang... He played all over the court and had a sick first step. They played a playoff warm-up gae at Lamar and beat 3A State champ Kountze by 30 plus. This team is the most likely to lose to Yates out the bunch, but they were also good enough to win. 2001 Ozen team was awsome. I know you all forget how good they were. Senior guards Albert Marshall and Mike Thomas were too good to be press the entire game. Wheatly tried that tactic (the ran the same press Yates runs now) and got beat by nearly 20. They were 12 deep and the starters were really good. Think about it, Desmond Cooper, Albert Marshal, Keena Young, Kendrick Perkins and Tigee Rideaux with Jason Dabney, Brekenridge, Chappell, Rideau, Tyrrell, Daigle, and Allen off the bench... They were just as athletic and much bigger than Yates is now. The starting guards could handle the press really well and the post were way too good! It would be a close game because the bench guards would have trouble with the press, but Ozen would win... And for the record, I truly dislike Ozen! Dallas Lincoln team was way too good for Yates. This game would not be close! Bosh would score 40 and Hopkins would have 30. Byron Eaton would not turn the ball over!!! That is three D1 starters and a Pro! Oh and William Langrum would have 10 dunks in that game... These guys were unpressable! Byron Eaton and Bryan Hopkins were both starting D1 pgs... Something Yates does not have and have not seen! Last but not least 2001-1999 Sugarland Willowridge led by TJ Ford and Daniel Ewing... No way Yates stays in the game. This team went 95-4 over a three year span but had to forfit the entire 1999 district schedule due to a transfer that did not sit out (75 and 1 over two years)! This team had three future NBA players on it, and held National number 1 for 2 years! This team had three D1 pgs that were not to be pressed, two were 6'3 and 6'4! I do not need to say that TJ Ford was could do Yates press a world of damage, do I? Ivan McFarlin average 15 rebounds per game and Walker averaged 8... They were both 6'9". Kenny Taylor did not even start in 2000, he came offg the bench!! This was by far the best team I have ever witnessed with my own eyes... LIVE! It was a treat to watch them!

#1 Texas vs #9 K-state Game Thread

Bradley creating his own offense? I havent seen it this year. He is best when given the ball in a scoring position. He is the only guard on the team that has yet to have on ball duties... And that is for a reason. Mason, Bradely, Brown, Lucas, and Ward have all been asked to handle the rock and get into the offense, there is a reason Bradley has not, and it has nothing to do with his scoring potential. And don't short change Brown he also leads Balbay in free throw makes and percentage (an the Big 12), 3pt makes and percentage. Browns issue is #1 some of his passes are too fancy, meaning sometimes the ball winds up hitting players in the chest, head or arms. And he #2 sometimes over dribbles into the paint with no where to go. As his conditioning gets better he will be more explosive and able to finish plays in the paint. Lastly #3 he sometimes gets too comfortable with the ball, this is not high school, in college someone is always reaching for the ball. It is more number one than the rest. -

The guards did shut down arguable the most talented back court in the Big 12... They will be fine, I need Pittman to play with more power and Wangmene to sit the bench!!!! I like Hill and Chapman! -

Jacovin is a TO machine but he is also the only guy that can constantly make his own offense!!! He just needs to keep his head in the game... Agg stop beating up on the boy... Let his past be his past and his today build his future. You don't see many players not react to being smacked in the face with a forearm. It was too much and hopefully he will continue to improve on self control. Everybody played bad tonight... James did not move the ball enough, Hamilton was a bad play waiting to happen, Bradely was not confident, Balbay stopped driving, Lucas took bad shots, Johnson took bad shots, nobody made free throws, and the list goes on! -
Yeah, Wall is the PG so of course he dominates the ball!
-
Look at the stats... He has had his best games in the biggest moments.. NC game 25pt 15rebs MSU game 23pt 13rebs one of only two Horns in double figures and shot better that 50% ISU game 25pts and 14rebs All these games and the Texas A&M CC game and the Colorado game he really showed up down the stretch. So yes he has carried this team to alot of wins. Kentucky has had more close games so Wall always looks like he carrying the team to the win!!!!

#1 Texas vs. Texas A&M... Horns win in overtime!

The Aggies played better ball tonight, but the more talented team won. Texas could not buy a basket for most of the night. The last few games Brown averages 8 mins. but tonght it was his turn. He made a number of key plays... DJ is POY. Gary may be our most consistant player. -
Whay is Damon James not seriously being considered for the Player of Year? I know Wall is the talk of college basketball and rightfully so, but James is on a tear! He actually avaerages a double-double and is shooting well. He plays the best in the Biggest games and normally is guarding three positions! He plays for one of the best teams in what might be the strongest conference. What do you think? Wall's averages 17pts 7ast 4rb 2stls 50%FG 39%3PT 77%FT James Averages 17pts 1ast 11rb 1bk 49%FG 36%3PT 70%FT

shorttexas1 replied to cardinals4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Well AG! THE best out of Jaguar land has to be Damon Sweet! THE best out of Lincoln has to be Stephen Jackson. THE best out of Westbrook has to be Luke Jackson but Sneed is pushing him! I think THE best out of your school has to be Thadeous Holden. THE best out of TJ has do be Darious Hayes.. THE best out of Memorial has to be Jacovin Brown. THE best out of Ozen is Perk. -

Gamble is a different coach... Gamble does more to protect leads than he does to create a spread. Gamble played a slow set-up ball that was very guard dominated. Basically he put the onnice on his guards to run the half court offense so well that it cannot be stopped. The press was used to create leads or get back into games, but Gamble was a half court guy. This Yates team is a press all day team like Wheatly of the past. They play one way!!! These kids even press on the park courts. If your guards are good enough or deep enough to slow the game down, you can beat them. They are very athletic and it is less about overall talent. They are beating teams that are MORE talented than they are. The depth is magnified because of the system that they run. Every kid has brought into the 32 minutes of hell philosophy and they play it well. Yes they have been COACHED to that level. Yates has had these same type of athletes in the past, Wise just turned it into a winning formula. Fact of the matter is that he did not press anywhere nar as much at Hightower because they had good bigs. His style played out differently. Bellaire is obviously and grossly more talented but Yates would beat the breaks off of them! He has inhereted a team of athletic short guys so he leans to his stregnth. Young is very talentd. Peters is a freaky athlete, and Gardner is a really solid shooter. Elton Roy is a sleeper. But no more TALENTED than Skip, Garrett, Davis, Young or Perk, Marshal, Young, Thomas or Ford, Taylor, McFarlin, Ewing. Two of those three team won State and one made it there. Two of them were National #1 teams, just like Yates might be. Central's team wasn't as deep but the starting five was just as, if not more, talented. -
