Could some of the past Lincoln, Ozen, or possibly Silsbee's 31-1 team (around 1999-2000 season) compete at all with this Yates team?
I really don't agree here. The 1995 Lincoln (Dminique Hardie, S. Jackson, and Keith Harris were no pushovers) team could.. And the 2001 (National #1 team) Ozen team could. Boutte/ would have slowed the game down to a half court game. And bouth teams had good enough guards to make it happen... With better bigs then Yates has right now!!! But those are the only two. Maybe the Luke Jackson or Omar Sneed Westbrook teams could have played well, but they would have lost to these Yates kids.

Bellaire got some good wins this week. They beat the nations # 15 team Memphis White Station,TN and got by the #2 private school in Texas!
No one in the NATION can play with these boys. Being alived for 18 years, I have to say this by far is the best high school team I seen playing the game of basketball.
That means you missed the 2003-2004 Willowridrge Teams. We are talking 6 big time D1s and 3 pros in two years!! Can you say Ivan McFarlin (OkSU and currently a 76er), Kenny Taylor (Baylor/Texas and Bosnia), Daniel Ewing (Duke, Clippers and cureently Polish League's Asseco Prokom Sopot ), and TJ Ford (Texas, Indiana Pacers)!!! Talking about highlight show!! But this Yates team is just as fun to watch.. Not sure they would be able to beat that Willowridge team though! Those three guards could handle any press and D. Ewing and K. Taylor were lights out from the arc! And I am not even bringing Oakhill teams into the equation! This Yates team is a great one though. Last night they really put on a show. They took out one of the nations best centers in the first game... He was too big to keep up!

See what I mean when I say strong with the ball? And the shooting started slow but they were killing the threes!!!! Joe Young looked like the best player in highschool ball tonight!

I seen both games and I was very impressed with the Butler vs. Winter Park game. Yates were no surprise but I know that wasn't thier best game at all. I believe that Butler will give Yates a good game. Winter Park relied on two good players out of Rivers (Boston Celtic head coach son) and number 23. Butler was able to shut Rivers down to only 12 points I believe. Yates has more key players for a high school team I ever seen. Butler will have to play more man to man than double team like tonight that they have done. Yates pressed throughout the whole game and I still can't understand why press when there's only two min left and your team up by 20 points.
Because, your suppose to break the other teams will till the end.
And the fact is they do not know any other way to play!!! All they know how to do is pressure the ball!
-
They are supposed to be on a CBS station!

No small school kid in the area would match up well against Yates. I saw Centrals press give HJ and Silsbee fits and Yates is 10X more agressive! You have to be strong with the ball and be able to take contact! High school refs can't make all those calls! Yates has three lights out shooters and one kid that may be small, but he plays 6'10!!! Their scheme makes them so strong! Maybe if you get the best kids in the area and make Boutte their coach you could give them heck... Because Boutte will slow the game down to a half court match-up! Memorial would have the best shot but they don't have enough kids that are strong with the ball!!! That would be their downfall!! You would need three kids that are real strong with the ball and it would not help having a fourth!

But after watchin UT, Syracuse looks like the only clear favorite to beat them... I am not saying no one else could beat them but Cuse has the perfect formula to beat them! -

Give me an athletic, quick and smart team anyday.
Well, yet again the question isn't answered. Texas' team is athletic, quick, and smart. You can't be #2 without it. Being ranked #2 and anyone saying Texas can't possibly win it all, shows a certain lack of intelligence.
#1 is quicker, smarter and more athletic than #2......................#2 is good so #1 must be awesome.
Dove, I could not disagree with you more!!! The only true quickness on that Kansas team is Collins and Taylor... Texas on the other hand has Balbay, Bradley, James, Lucas, and Mason. The overall team intellegence goes to Kansas because they are smothered with vets at every position... Even off the bench with Morningstar! Henry is the only weakness... But Texas has Balbay, Lucas, Brown, Johnson, and James on that same level. But the other young players in key positions can hurt you. And as far as athltetes, Texas is far more athletic. And it goes deep with Johnson, James, Bradely, Balbay, Hamilton, and Wangmene (taht is witrh the loss of Ward). WithK ansas you have the twins, Taylor, and Henry; THAT IS IT!!!!! i think Aldridge and Pittman cancel each other out!!! Then there is the match between James/Johnson and Morris Twins advantage Texas. Henry vs any Texas guard (advantage Kansas unless you put James on him and go big). Bradley vs Taylor is a wash. And Collins vs. Balbay (advantage Collins but we saw how Balbay nullified Lucas of whom is on Collins level). Then there is the Bench which we all know is advantage Texas! Collins is the one that can make the difference in this game. If Henry is too big for Bradley or Mason to check then Hamilton or James will have to hold him. I believe Wangmene, Johnson, Hill, Chapman, or Hamilton could check the Morris twins and give Pittman and James enough releif! The entire match-up comes down to Collins vs. the Texas Bench!!!! Can Collins be the difference in beating Texas! Or will Texas' depth wear down the Jayhwks? I actually believe Syracuse has the best opportunity to whip Texas! Especially with that athletic 2-3 zone against a struggling offense! -

And they surge back for the victory!!! They played quality teams last year and the year before and still walked away champs. These are the same kids that beat Oakhill led by senior Brandon Jennings (NBA) and St. Patrick led by Jumior Dexter Strickland (UNC) when they were just sophmores. -
Don't try to associate him with Kelly now! They gave him Das BOOT! But when he has success then he is associated?

J. Brown played sub par last night and Bailis was still on his jock... Why? Because of the plays he makes with or without making a jump shot. You can see his greatness even without him playing well. Texas is really loaded, they not only play 12 guys... 12 guys make plays!!! Lose Pitman for the game and still out rebound MSU and Outscore them in the paint!!! That is big! Dogus is a monstar in your face... He could have counted the hairs in K. Lucas' nose!! It was one thing to shutdown UNC's suspect guards, ut to shutdown Lucas (top 5 pg), Louscious (great guard), and Morgan (a pro) was BIG TYME!!!!! -

Jacovin Brown is good...I said he could not play for Texas and I was wrong!!! 8 points and several nice assist in limited time in the game!! Very impressed!!!
Hey Zeek I was in Section 135, probably near you somewhere!!! Hey it was never a question of TALENT!!! ATTITUDE and ACADEMICS were his issues!!! The kid can flat out play... To quote AVery Bradley when asked what he though about J. Brown. "The first time I saw Jacovin play my mouth dropped, I was in awe!" -

When the so called lawsuits never manifest, and there is no action taken against him. Then you ought to be the big man and publicly apologize to him, for bastardizing his name. (And send him an email of it!) And what has this gut ever done to you to have your panties bunched so far up your butt that you insist on constantly demonizing him in some way. And please don't blame it on internet chatter! -

He played well in the two games I saw them play, Silsbee and Westbury Christian. The Bruin guards played very well against Silsbee, not so good against Westbury. Johnson is a good PG and Crane and Hayes along with Wells shoot the ball well. They need to go to the boards more to help out the post players since the team is on the small side. Overall, their quickness is their strength, but if they aren't knocking down the outside shot, they are in trouble. Proof, they shot the ball very well against Silsbee, not so much against Westbury. According to the roster that I got from the YMBL, West Brook starts 3 '6 players, a '6"1 and a "6"3.
That young man is 260 or better... I am 230 and standing onside of him I am small. He just started after the football season. He is a bluechip offensive tackle, but he has good feet and can play basketball very decent. The kid is a sophmore too!
Actually short, that was a typo on my part. Meant to put 250lbs, not 230.
Ok -

Silsbee vs. West Brook, 3pm YMBL Broadcast
shorttexas1 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee has been tough for a long time... in '98 they beat us and everybody in the area until the first round of the playoffs.. We were in 5A and they were in 4A. Then green beat them until he left. I think we lost one other time in that span. I have respect for this tiger team. Actually they should have beaten Brook with the talent level they have over the Bruins... But coulda, woulda, shoulda! But that is also the difference in competing with 5A game in and game out. Brook will not even be a contender come playoff time, matbe a first round victory but nothing more.... -
