I hope NOT!!!! I like th spice!

Well Vidor has a very important injury, but I hope the kid will come back strong... They may have the best offensive line in the district and they will be a tough out. I still wonder about Lumbertons legacy but they continue to slap me in the face and produce "W"s. Ned has really begun to tumble towards mediocrity. They haven't had a truly dominant team in a while... Nobody knows who you will get out of PNG!!! I know jack about Livingston, so I won’t comment. LCM hasn't been competitive in a while, why should I believe that has changed? Ozen has the athletes; maybe the new coach will put it together!!! Central has had one truly horrible year in this district; I think they continue to bring the talent if the coach can put it together... Lumberton might win district again with Central and Vidor/NED to follow... Vidor continues to knock on the door. it will be nice to see them get over the hump!

And... If he is enrolled or not... J Brown WILL NOT start for UT this year!

That guy is deep... That was an emotional speech... Kind of had an Obama

You must not have much basketball knowledge! I am young but not that young (30)! You don't know much about Bird and Magic either... Bird retired early due to a back injury. Magic was forced to retire early because of HIV... Magic and Jordan were four years apart in age and bird was seven years older than Mike. In retrospect Bird and Jordan had the same age apart as Kobe and Lebron now. Magic and Jordan were like Wade and Lebron. That doesn't show that either of them were "over the heel" while Jordan was playing. Anybody that knows basketball knows that Jordan’s major road block to a championship came from the Pistons during there late 80’s run, not the Lakers or the Celtics. Before you accuse me of being young, accuse yourself of having a lack of knowledge.

I understand trading his old butt!!! Bowen or RJ??? Its a no brainer! That will be a nice starting five. Duncan, Goodan, Jefferson, Ginobli, Parker!!!!! Could challenge for a Championship, if the Spurs find some depth n the front court!
-
Shawn Bradly styed in the top five for many years in shots blocked. In his best year he was second to only Mutombo!!! Anyway, No one else is Jordan and these young punks in todays game would not have a chance... Dude, MJ played in '96 with the players that are considered great now... He held his own, looked beter than everyone else, and won a championship. You are acting like jordan played with those sluth footed guys of the 70's... He played in this same athletic era! Oh and Hakeem palmed the balll more than Jordan!!!!!!
-
Todays players are crazy athletic, true... But yester-years players were too... Jordan played in the 90's where players were just as athletic as they are now. Its not like he played in the 60's or 70's. Jordan played in a more physical league, though... He would dominate in this era that the rules have been garnered towards perimeter players! The other fact is that the rim dominating big men aren't out there... When you got into the lane in the 80's or 90's those shots used to be thrown into the stands. No big men are taking charges and playing the odds. In the 90's alone you had Mourning, Mutombo, Olajawon, Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Shawn Bradley, Robert Parrish, Dale Davis, Otis Thorp, Karl Malone, Camby, etc. Even the big clumpsies like Murasan and Ostertag were actual shot blockers... Now you can name three Chandler, Birdman, and Howard!!!! Jordan would have a field day in today's league!!!!

Yao is the best center in the NBA.
shorttexas1 replied to king's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Figured I would bring this back!!! I know you guys love howard but the Lakers played him one-on-one with Gasol!!!! Yao murdered Gasol one-on-one, in fact he murdered everyone they put on him one-on-one!!! Dwight looked fustrated out there and Gasol made him look bad on both ends of the court!!!! They had to double Yao, but they played Howard one-on-one the whole series. Howard is merely a freak athlete with little skill, Yoa is a complete packege. Yes Dwight is going to average more blocks and rebounds, but Yao can win games and score in the clutch while getting rebounds and blocking shots, (when healthy)!!!!! And you can't hack-a-Yoa! -
The last one is with Lebron stuck at home is super funny!

Dickie the Great does it again!!! Basketball and voice GURU! : -
Well The Lakers won so Denver will not see the finals!!! The Cleveland Lebrons will be fishing soon. And just because YOU don't like Kobe, that doesn't make him less than the greatest player playing now!!! Kobei is the 21st century Jordan, and for now Lebron is Clyde Drexler!!! One step away from greatness, one step behind Jordan, and can't get that ring for now!

At this time WB is a football school... But that is only because of what the football program and coach have done... Of course kids play football and basketbalkl because they don't see the current basketball situation as being an opportunituy to win or develop. There are at least four kids from this senior team that started out at WB being basketball first players. One maintained that role. For more opportunity the others went to football. Out of those three left only one still played basketball in the summers. The others went to 7 on 7 football. They began to increase there football skills and there basketball skills diminished. Two of those three players was a fulltme starter at Westbrook on the football team. I say that to say this!!! At Ozen Boutte got the best talent to commit to learning basketball. If they played both sports, he would still demand that they do some basketball activity in the off season. See the difference? Boutte developed his kids and WB doesn't. The kids at WB are not pushed to enhance their skill in the off season in basketball.. But The football coach demands that they must... That is what you call coaching.... Those basketball first kids became football first kids because of the coach! Oh and to add some fact to what I am saying 3 of the four kids that I mentioned all played for the one loss Middle school BISD Champs at Vincent. That team loss one game in 2 years... Because they WERE basketball first kids! -

I am always good for an arguement!!!! Yeah you have to have some kind of talent to win, but a great coach will turn a good team (with talent) into a great one. Coaching is the difference between winning games and and being a real contender in the playoffs. Talent disparitry is so large in high school that any team with a little talent can put together a winning program. But a great coach can make that winning program into a championship program as Boutte did with Ozen. That GOOD team is what Westbrook has been, even though recent years have been down they still have winning records. But they rarely miss the playoffs, even when great teams like Kingwood, Westfield, Northsore, (98',99','00)Central, Humble, etc. have been in their district. -

They did not recruit football players to become a better program than Ozen, they just hire the better coach! Westbrook is ready to be a contender NOW! -

Thank you Nos for correcting short. Know your facts before opening one's mouth. Facts, opinions, propaganda, blah, blah, blah... Freedom of speech lil' dude (even when wrong). Silsbee has been a program for how many years to claim that one regional championship? WB has been in the mix only since '82... Brook will have there chances just like Silsbee has had theres. Westbook has had more talent than Silsbee and alot of talent is still there! It will only take a coach to put that situation together, the same way Boutte did with Ozen (with Brook's talent). Also, of course Simon allows his asst. coaches to help coach football, Simon is a football guy. He originally applied for that job before the basketball position was open. Outside of the Louis Arlin and Thadeous Holden years Silsbee hasnt come close to the overall talent that can be found at Westbrook. Except this year when Brook only had Lopez and Whittington and that team could have been better too, if the right coach was there. Again thank you for the correction I always tend to think in the past when I think of GREAT Silsbee teams! -

Oh yes I did forget about that most recent trrip... Good post especially being that silsbee has a much longer history! Like I said... I always have liked the Silsbee program, but WB is a coach away from being a power! -

OK, I have put my posting away for too long... I would have loved to get on some of those topics. I am here now, so here I go... I hope no feathers are ruffled because you guys (girls) are a little sensitive. First! Congrats to Seveat! I think he will do fine. Second, Ozen was positioned to be great? Hands down in SETX is football first! If anything would have been set-up, it would have been the football program! Third, the Brook job would be a great opportunity. Silsbee has had great talent and great years but it has produced not championships, not even regional! Who does that sound like? WB! So if the choice was there between the two I would chose the bigger school. If Ozen had never opened, those same kids that went to State on numerous teams would have been at Westbrook, underachieving under Simon! Right now there is plenty of talent at Brook to compete at basketball, but the lure is not there... As good as WB past coaches were, they always melted down in the playoffs, which is where Boutte excelled. The right couch WILL have a powerhouse at WB! Lastly, I would love to see DV in the HJ tourney... "Put up or shut up time!" Honestly whoever loses will get ragged on pretty hard!!!! Crow will be ate, crow-pot-pie! -
