  1. I knew this was going to happen... Stowers did a good job while he was here... Know I hope someone puts interest in the kids and lets see if we can develop some position players and not always have ATH behind the Jags recruits... I wish him well.... Maybe a local guy can get our kids in school and show enough interest to positivily impact their school work while still finding some success on the field... Charlie was tho only big time commit we have had recently to actually be able to attend shcool... We need more than that! If not get a foriegn guy with new ideas!
  2. Unless they find someone on Bouttes level... They now began the long trip downhill!!! Short playoff run this year, district number 2 next year, and so on and so forth! But right now they are good!
  3. You haven't watched Wheatly... Makes the Yates press look like half court basketball!
  4. Give a good coach the athletes and he will use their undiscipline ways for good... i.e. Wheatly! Fundamently sound teams will get you far in the lower classes but it is an entire other animal in the large classes. Only one team in recent history that wasn't extremely athletic made it to the 5A or 4A championship... Last years Dulles team was just that! But without the athletes they could not seal the deal.... But whose to say that the athletic team has no disciplin?
  5. OK, even on the 2A and 3A level there are not as many talented guys... That is why it is so easy to name them all... Football in Texas is so strong that you can find small school kids that can truely play.. Florida and Cali are the same way, but after there you can cut this conversation... Texas football is an entire other conversation....
  6. I know Silsbee has had players... Thad and Lou were on successful 4A programs. Lou was a good mid-major player and a great find by Lamar. Thad was a cool 6'1" D1 PG. He was exceptional and that is why he made it to Tennessee. Now don't be confused Tennessee was not major then, Bruce pearl has made that team competitive, but I still think Thad would be real there today. Look at what the area had at that time though... Three programs in the top of the 5A (Central) and 4A (Sislbee and Lincoln) classifications. Two more leget teams that were strong in the area (Westbrook and TJ). There were BIG time recruits in the area, Emmanuel McElroy, Skip, Duby, Thad, Lou, Jeremy Long, Golden, Ronnie Davis, Riley, etc... The area was well exposed... In 3A you can't go on a player stats... The overall level of competition will balloon a good players stats. The sheer fact is that most small town kids have little competition and their skills do not grow. That is the reason why Trey Peters (6'5"), Ashton Hall 6'6"), the Hancocks (all 6' and bigger), and Shanon Robinson (plain as can be is too small) all play summer ball in Beaumont and Houston form childhood... They are the exceptions in talent. But those one or two exceptional 1A - 3A. Silsbee has one of the best coaching staffs in the area and the have a athletic lineage so they will be good and will compete strongly. But there is a gap in talent, competition, and quality between the lower levels and 4A and 5A... Hands down!
  7. especially if e is a stronger PF!!! He is too short!
  8. ou all talk about brooks record.... Four of the starters were playing football, then when they got back they had to get themselves ready for baslketball... They have been steadily improving... They will probably come out second or third in district... BUT THIS DOES SHOW ALL OF YOU SMALL SCHOOL LOVERS THAT YES A BAD (record-wise) 5A TEAM WILL BEAT A GREAT 3A TEAM....
  9. Mark my word... James is not leaving... His draft status has dropped because of his play this year... He could push for lottery again next year... Now he is a late first rounder!
  10. Do ya think? You know I think it would be a decent game... Perk would have been ready to play, Matthews (18 pts,6 rb,3 ass.,2 stl) held his own against Sasha Kaun and Darrel Arthur and he played well against Bama and Ohio State, we all saw what Keena did on the college level, Trey put up good numbers on Arkansas, Nevada, LSU and killed conference! The PG and Bench are the weak areas but those guys were competitive and athletic. Do you think they could have made top 25?
  11. In the late 90s and early 2000s Beaumont reached a peak on talent on the court. Several kids went on to play Junior College and university ball, some play professional now (NBA or Euro), others will be great coaches. But here is what I was wondering? Lets start with the class of 2002 since Perk was apart of that class... If they all had went to college and the 2002 class all redshirted, the first graduating class would have been 2007. The NCAA national champs during that time were UCONN, North Carolina, and Florida twice. If I had put the best in Beaumont on one team could they have competed for a National Championship against one of those teams? Just from memory the best team that could have been compiled during that span would have been something like this. Starters C - Kendrick Perkins 6'11" - NBA PF - Clarence Matthews 6'7" - All Conference player D1, currently Euro SF - Keena Young 6'7" - All Confernce player D1, currently Euro SG - Trey McDowel - 6'3" - Junco ALll American, All Conference player D1, currently Euro PG - Michael Thomas - 6' - Coach SF, PF - Jason Dabny 6'6.5" - D1 SG, PG - Jason Breckenridge 6'3" - D1 PG - Brandon Andrews 6'1" - JUCO, SETX Mustangs SG - Harvey Grant 6'4" - JUCO SG - Albert Marshall 5'11" - First Team all Tourny HS State Champ PG - Brandon Chappell 6'0" - D1, Euro PF - Romeo (last name) 6'9" - Junco No size on the bench, but they would be pretty strong!
  12. Dude Central lost by one point in the regional finals... That means that they were one of the four best in the area... Division one and two... See it did not matter in the case of OU and Texas so no it wont matter here... You can go undefeated in the regular season and lose in the first round and no one will remember you... Dallas was 11-3 first in the NFC and lost in the first round, they did not get any accolades after that. Just the way it goes... You must win when it counts... They will remember Central in the regional final losing to Friendswood and the Texas Tech signee by one. Lumberton is the first 20-4A team to lose to a 19-4A team (not named Dayton) in the bidistrict in nearly a decade..... That is not a good stat...
  13. Mine was out but I am getting caught up now!
  14. Soulja... I dont see a great coming soon!
  15. The offense was decent but couldn't come through with TD's in the redzone. The O stalled out too many consecutive drives... Defense would allow late comebacks because they were worn in the second half. Play calling was a factor, stuck to the run too strongly and failed to give the passing game a try!!! Turn-overs were our final doom! Guess who? Central Jaguars.
  16. Thanks for the Livingston updates... We do not have any other wat to follow the team since they have no big newspaper market!! Oh, and Bryan will beat you guys!
  17. Remember, it's all about 'when it counts'. Playoffs is what it's all about. We were Phenominal in the eyes of every team we took down in the playoffs... And Central wasn't garbage either... They weren't too cold in the regular season, they never lost consecutive games. They lost to two teams in district last year, Lumberton and Livingston. Both they had three or more turnovers. You can't down play the Jaguars, give those kids props.
  18. And I know McGuffie is good but he is light and doesn't have the stregnth Michaels does. And he is injury prone, multiple concussions in college are scary for a young player.
  19. Michael has only played in the spread but he really fits a prostyle offense. His toughness and his vision will excell in prostyle Offense... The spread O is made for more of a juking back, but the prostyle will be right up the "one cut and go" Michaels alley... The backfield at A&M isnt as crowded as LSU's or Oklahoma State. LSU already had three of the top 15 RB signed this year... OK State has a great starter and back-up that are young.. Bradley Stephens, and Cyrus Grey are older and wil still allow Michaels time to shine... They are also not locks to be Starters... McGuffie is another issue but that is speculation for now!
  20. It is difficul because Central has shown they can be loaded but if they don't have a QB they suck. So here we go again with a new QB... This kid will be a Junior, but he is a phenominal runner... He is probably a better option QB than the kid we had this year but he is not a good passer like the starter this year. If Central runs the same are similar offense they should be fine with this kid, but they have lost with more talent. Central still returns alot and it could be a good season ahead... This district has so much parity it is hard to pick, but I will go with the school with the best O-line in the area.... Vidor... Oline is great and they were so close in so many games last year. Central... All depends on so many variables Ned... Will coach there way here Ozen... Maybe they turn the corner and go top two, if the O can meet the D half way! Lumberton... The decline begans, but wont last long nice Soph class... PNG... A good coach will go young in the rebuilding year and win district in 2011 Livingston... Could push higher but I remember their JV being whipping boys LCM... Dark horse or cellar dweelar... Like Lumberton the last two years I would have to see it to believe it.
  21. You struck a nerve Lazeek, with my Cowboys... Im am going to delete my account! ;D >
  22. You have been in hiding!!!! JJ said yesterday that Wade is his guy and will remain as HC. I believe that Garrett may be gone which will help, but you still got ol' laid back Wade for another year!!!!! SO!
