NEDERLAND AND CENTRAL PREDICTIONS......
shorttexas1 replied to Chorizo_11's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
If the Jags cannot run up the middle, burn clock, and rest the D the NDNs will win BIG 42-21. If the Jags can get the running game going with one or two scene passes or three step drops, the defense rests a bit they win this game 28 to 14! -
lumberton vs. ozen predictions
shorttexas1 replied to slick74's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I predict a heavy dose of Beard on anyone how comes out of Ozens backfield... The Bruising attack of Hanna... And the superior coaaching staff of Lumberton in this one... The only way Ozen has a chance is through the air... And they will try just that... 28-21 Lumberton. -
I would love to see them win out, I would love for the coaching staff to look more prepared, and I would love to beat on the bench and spell JAGUARS! J..... A.... G..... UARS!!! I just can't phantom a coach not doing his homework... That why I try and give Kenny Harrison at Memorial some love too... All they have to do is seem ready and not burn TO after kickoffs and on delay of game infractions so much! Its all about perseption...

Cowboy... It is nothing wish washy about my fanhood... I watch Central and I have a nephew starting at the Brook, blood is thicker than mud, so I have more pull for me to watch him. However, I pull away often because I need my dose of Jaguar... I have been watching Jaguar ball since 88 and root for them when they are down as well as up... But I am a student and fan of the game... The two schools you named, Navy and Tech (produced CALVIN JOHNSON with a medicore QB) don't just run, run, run... They run, run, run, pass, Just look at the stats Navy more than Tech. It is heavily run favored, 80% (5.4 ypc) Tech with 11 pass attempts a game and 90% (5.7 ypc) Navy with 4 pass attepts a game. But Navy averages 11 yrds per completion with a qb rating of 177 so teams have to respect that. And The first thing I said was it is not about the passing game, its about preparation and execution.... I am a football fan and it is hard to watch [glow=red,2,300]BAD[/glow] football.... Be honest with yourself Cowboy, the coaches should have plays for every situation prepared and not blowing at least 3 TO a game on avoiding delay of game infractions. Whoever heard of a delyed hand off in the endzone?

Don't get me wrong, its one thing to have a game plan and not be able to execute it, and not having a game plan at all. There is a such thing as having a hand-full of set plays for certain situations. 2 and short, 3 and long, bad field position, good field position, hurry up, consume clock, etc. And even if you cannot complete a pass the attempts must be there to keep the defense aware of the possibility. Through the first three quaters of the Lumberton game Central attempted 2 passes. One on third and long from its own 25 yard line against an all out blitze, and the other on fourth and 35 from Lumberton's 45 yrd line with the back-up, running specialist QB in the game. Respectively one was a sack and the other was a duck both were used on obvious pass downs. The craziest thing was the fact that even though the run was not producing yards they never tried anything different. I would rather go down in defeat with a game plan and no execution, than to luck utterly clueless. I am a devoute Central fan but I have a hard time watching BAD football. Even in 2006 when we had great talent all over the field it was still hard watching BAD football. Now I love to go watch Brook, Ned, Stark, and even Lumberton (there blocking schemes looked like poetry in action) because its GOOD football. I actually see a game plan, adjustments, and execution.

I will like to offer the respect I have not given Lumberton in the past. The defense won the game Friday for the TRAIN and all props go to you guys. It was kind of unique how Central stayed in the game by the most part on pure talent but the kids did not lose this game. I beleive any and every team with a decent coach and good talent should be able to beat Central. Lumberton has that and more.... CHOO CHOOOOO On a more personal note. No I am not a coach, but I am a student of the game. It seems as if the coaching staff in Jaguar Land don't even care to be prepared for a game. The passing game isnt the biggest issue, maybe we can't pass, but surely we should be able to put the kids in a situation to win. Yes the defense is exceptional but any coach with a half a brain can dail up plays to beat a team the blitze EVERY down, Just like the Lumberton coaching staff did (Great Job). Lumberton did not line up on the first two downs of any series with saftey help. There was nine in the box with close gaps with the corners playing outside of the receiver. With a little time the slants and short routes could have been there... Ever heard of a three step drop? And there is no way the on forth and one from your own 20 that you should except a delay of game penalty while your entire football team (Just waiting staring at the sideline) is waiting on guidance from its leaders (coaches). Then, the very next series, goes and call a delayed hand off while in the endzone! To have to call a timeout after recieving a kickoff is ridiculous as well. They seem to have no clue about coaching offense. Adjustments are an important part of the game and I have not seen an IN GAME adjustment from Central. I say all that to say this... Talent and speed makes you competitive, coaching wins the games.... Friday Central was out coached... Like a pop warner coach going against Mack Brown! Keep on trucking Lumberton... Great game!

Central at Lumberton Predictions?
shorttexas1 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
It is funny to see Lumberton getting upset because Vidor is gloating... Lumberton gloated (if that is a word) after every win last year and cried bloody murder when people wouldn't give them respect. I predict my Jags will put up 21 on Lumberton... And hold them to 7. It must be good to get a home game with the Jags two years in a row... it wont feel so good after Friday night! -
1. Ozen still has not turned the corner. 2. I might be hard on Lumberton but is Livingston any good? 3. Central will have issues putting up big offensive numbers unless they throw the ball. 4. PNG will be a playoff team. 5. Vidor may be on an upset bid... That BIG O-line may be the catalyst. 6. LCM, poor LCM 7. The forth place team in 20-4a is glad Dayton is gone. 8. Memorial might miss the playoffs in this districyt too! 9. Its going to be crowded at the top of 20-4A. 10. The Beaumont schools need some OC's!

*Vidor vs. Central....CENTRAL WINS 21-20*
shorttexas1 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Good game Vidor... But in the 22 years that Central has been around we have never lost to Vidor and I doubt we ever will. We had a some close ones this century but always come out on top!! -
The "Bottom Line" on this Central vs. Vidor spread is about Central and Vidor. Don't come in here and even mention lumberton... stay on your own spreads and relive the glory days of last year and we are going to play football and make everyone in this town forget about that L-Train I was just being facetious... I am a Jag fan baby...

A ? for the West Brook guru's

Well after LSU signed two top ten back then they should back off... He waited too long and LSU kept on moving like big time programs do! I would love to see him at UT especially because they run the same type of offense he is currently involved in. I will ask my cousin, hes on the UT coaching staff, why the Longhorns have not offered. Michaels will be a late signee and he probably joins his teammates at A&M. When you commit early, teams stop offerring and I believe that along with the factors I mentioned earlier have added to his delimma. If there is an issue with a street agent... That is just too bad... He is tooo young to start letting anything sway him but the judgement of his parents and his personal judgement. -

I got to church with this kid, his mother baked my wedding cake. The kid sits on the front row at church with the Men. He is very respectful, attentive, and he is NOT disruptive. He lives in the Westend of BMT in a quiet neighborhood. He doesn't run in a crowd and he has good people in his life supporting him... As you put it street or hood issues are not an issue. But I guess sometimes Black = Street! But I don't know about his SAT!!! Scout.com shows him having offers from LSU, Mississippi State, Nebraska, and A&M and it is usually pretty accurate. [Hidden Content] The issues are that this kid has publically stated that he prefers to stay close to home and recruits know that. ANd he has shared time his entire career. Fact is LSU has signed two top ten tailbacks, Texas has signed Whaley, OU has two young Good backs there now, Miami has the number one, Florida has the USC RB for next year, Arkansas is not elite, UT is losing recuiting battles left and right for QBs and RBs for the last three years.... UT's new system is not RB friendly and people know that. Oh and I am a Jaguar Fan Baby!!!! -

Thank you... I was worried about him. I always look up the stats of the area talent that I know are playing. He had no rushing stats on ESPN so I did not know!

After 2 Weeks Who Do You See In 20 4A Making The Top 4?
shorttexas1 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They were there against PA and the LM scrimmage...however as I stated in an earlier post...Stowers used his nickel package against the spread teams...during the Lamarque scrimmage we were real vanilla and didn't show a whole lot! (I know you already knew that)...remember PA was held to 150 total yds...only 74yds rushing for the team! Dude! I said there is no star at RB and you said I will see a star this week... Then I asked was there a kid missing in the first two games... And you went back to defense... ??? I am confused... Like I said Central does not have a star RB! -

After 2 Weeks Who Do You See In 20 4A Making The Top 4?
shorttexas1 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
OK! I think its time someone spray odor killer on the stink that was 2007 Central's season. Boy did they stink it up. Biggest problem was the biggest O-line that we have had in years. They were young with only 2 seniors and the zone read blocking scheme is a difficult one to learn. They are big again this year but the blocking scheme has been simplified in the passing game and is basic in the running game so that is not as much of an issue this year. Second problem was the coaching staff's unwillingness to make adjustments. Last years QB was not a zone read QB. Honestly I don't think he should have been on the field at all (sorry if his family is on this site but it is just my opinion) and his stats proved it. He was not a running threat which is the key to the zone read. So everyone just keyed on Hall. The QB this year was second string last year and probably should have started second half of the season to gain experience. But he is better and will complete a pass when the coach finally calls his number. Central is 85% run and 15% pass. Third is that they gave up on the season. Once the kids began to lose the effort started to take a nose dive. The defense stayed on the field too much and that affected their ability to be effective. This year that won't be a problem, their first drive against Brook took 10 minutes to go 75 yards. This years Jag team is a different team. The QB is better, the blocking is better, and the defense is better and it doesn't spend alot of time on the field. Nobody is going both ways so everyone is fresh. And they may be the biggest team in the district with maybe Lumberton. There are still two real issues. One is the TO (fumbling) which I hope will improve over the course of the year. The other is that there is not a star at running back. At best Central RBs are average. But between the QB and the three RBs they will rack-up some yards. The last observation I have is that no secondary in this district will be able to contain the recievers if the OC allows the QB to throw.
