  1. When? Over who? Never!!! He is not an allstar! Tracey McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Garnett, Shawne Marion, Dirk Nowisnki, and AK-47 all play his position and he has never been picked over any one of those guys. He had a good team but not good enough to win it and they gave him less when they traded for Kidd. He never had a true post or point. When he got a point he lost whet post he did have and lost his bench! Avery will succeed where ever he goes!
  2. It looks like you shut everyone up Nos!
  3. Oh yeah...the reason I started this topic...Jags are ranked #1 in 4A in the 4x100 and have the nations 4 fastest time in the 4x200...way to go Jags! One more meet to be State Champs! I am glad you wrote that because I remember one year we won State in the 4X100 and broke a State record and nobody in BMT knew about it... The Beaumont Enterprise or should I say Suprise (right Soulja) did not even cover it.
  4. The demographic issue is BS!!! and you all know what that stands for.... The demographic issue that is present is in the schools. Urban schools teach TAKS... Sub-Urban schools teach skills and the students apply what they are taught... I don't know why the school board's feel it is neccesary to teach Blacks TAKS and not the basic skills!!!! That is the problem... Let's go and check Kingwood, Spring, Klien, Cypress, Clear Lake, Nederland, Port Neches, Fort Bend, Pearland, Sugarland etc. There passing rates are way up there... And let it be know that Sugarland, Fortbend, and Spring have large Black population, slightly larger White!!!! But the school boards in those ISD's ae ran differently.
  5. There is such a high failure rate because school doesn't teach subjects anymore... The best hope is that you are in an AP program to try and avoid that stupid "we teach TAKS" mantality in today's schools. Even AP classes are objected to the rigerous TAKS teaching..... Here is a hint: Teach math, science, reading, english, and social studies... NOT TAKS!!! and the kids should put that together to take the TAKS test... Man Texas kids are so behind... At first I said my kids will go to public school because I turned out well, but know I think it is best to give my child an advantage and put them in private school!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and J. Brown WILL be an up-standing citizen or he will be at home... I hope he is smart enough to know which option to take!
  6. Know that Dayton is in yalls district we will go back to beating them every year in the playoffs again.... It is something about being in that district that makes you a loser!!!! ;D MUST BE THE TRINITY WATER... LMAO... We drink from the Sabine!!!
  7. You know since it is BBALL season I have not been here but Soulja is fanatic and west end is a fanatic! Maybe I am the traider.... I have been rooted knee deep inthe Jags since '87. I used to yell until I was horse. But now I still love my Jags but I like GOOD football. No I don't go to practice I would rather let a coach be a coach and stay out of the way.... I get financially involved in boosting but if there is a big game in houston I might go. True there are discipline problems, no direct feeders, and no pub at Central. Also, every Central coach has been a defensive coordinators and great ones at that. There has yet to be a well rounded offensive minded coach or assistant coach at Central... The "D" is always great!!!! But the "O" has always sufferred... From the days of Enoch dixons "sweep right sweep left" to Stower's "Disfunctional Zone Read". We have never made the appropiate adjustments. On years when the "D" is not dominant we really struggle because we can't score on any body. Last year we had an immoble QB running the zone read and any coach would tell you that doesn't work... But no adjustment and it looks like BAD football. Brandon made it look good because he was a mobil QB!!! There are many problems at Central and most start at home and some end on the field. Until we get students with pride and a since of what REAL success is there will be no STATE team at Central! Call me a liar but I walked those halls and played with those guys... I know! Prime example is Coach Green.. The parents and school backed his strong discipline actions. When he got rid of all the rif raf they went to State.... All of his starters were good kids and well mannered and reered right at HOME (even Ronnie)... They made it. He went to Memorial and couldn't do it becausde the parents did not back him and his structure. There have been good football teams led by character young men at Central that made that years team very good. But there are so many issues that it is hard to be un-done! Same with Collins... His mother kept him straight... It all starts at home....
  8. But Brown will probably start Mason or Balbay at the point!
  9. The kid is not good enough with the ball to play the point? Remember NBA Daniel Gibson lost his PG job to Abrams. The big twelve raves about this kid and how he doesn't make mistakes and handles the ball well.... Get ya facts straight... The problem is that he has been asked to shoot in this system and that won't change next year!
  10. You guys Augustine is gone but it might not be as bad as you all think. When TJ left after his sophmore year a team of misfits made it to the elite 8 with what they learned from him and their experience. This team is definately better than that one. Barnes has been grooming Justin Mason to be his point guard and we all know Abrams can play the pg too. Because Abrams is :-\ NOT : leaving!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all they will be bigger. They will have one of two starting line-ups. Dexter Pittman 6'10", Conner Atchley 6'9", Damion James 6'7", AJ Abrams 5'11" and Justin Mason 6'2". OR Conner Atchley 6'9", Gary Johnson 6'7" Damion James 6'7", AJ Abrams 5'11" and Justin 6'2" Mason. Second there is finally senior and Junior leadership. These guys have been through the fire and now have experience. Third Atchley is always improving his game. Mason is a better PG than most beleive. He recorded 4 or more assist in 12 games and had a 2.28 assist to turnover ratio. Also he is a great on-ball defender. Abrams Can run the point or be a scorer. James is getting better with time. Dexter Pittman and Gary Johnson are ready for breakout years. Forth we finally have depth in both guard and post players. We have Matt Hill, Clint Chatman, Dogus Balbay, Alexis Wangmene, Dexter Pittman/Gary Johnson and the infamous Jacovin Brown. Even better if Harrison Smith finally steps up. We all know what the bigs can do because Barnes found trust in them last year but now Balbay who was tabbed a very good PG will be great of the bench and we all know J. Brown can score on any level (his talent is not in question)!!!! Last year we had absolutey nobody on the bench to give our guards a blow and now we do. Fifth is the possibility of signing Devin Ebanks. He is the #4 SF of his class and the 6'8" freshman will be like having Marvin Williams off the bench. We get him and we will be one of the strongest teams out there. And he will improve our depth. We will have two bonafied scorers on the bench that could hit 20 plus ppg. Barnes may start him if he comes and have Conner Atchley 6'9", Devin Ebanks 6'8" Damion James 6'7", AJ Abrams 5'11" and Justin 6'2" Mason. This makes our bench even stronger. Finnally it is now known that we have one of the preimer collge basketball coaches. He has made good teams great and mediocre team good. He has changed his offensive and defensive schemes to fit his personnel. He has made Texas a hot spot for the NBA draft with Daniel Gibson, Royal Ivy, PJ Tucker, Lamarcus Aldridge, TJ Ford, Kevin Durant, etc. We will be awesome with Augustine but we may still be good enough to go to the final four without him.
  11. Yeah probably so but Paul is the MFW Most Fun To Watch
  12. it worked last year lumberton was in the playoffs longer than most of the schools in setx 1 year wonder! Lumberton has not MADE the playoffs more than any other SETX school either!!!!
  13. You guys try to set your schedule up for an undefeated preseason. Silsbee will probally be the toughest game (sorry BH) and they are 3A... That will really prepare you for district! :-\ :
  14. But the Kingwood Tourny was before he signed... If he gets hurt tommorrow they have already accepted his commentment and are forced to honor it... two totally different situations! Underr the fire? Now I started questioning the kid this year. I guess it was from actually being excited to watch him and going to his game til he turned my stomach. I went to the Toyota Center to watch him play Yates and it was like the last straw. They were loosing and I have never seen a kid act out like he did. It baffled me and I seen some pretty bad kids, but not with his talent level. Now if he had been provoked I would feel different... But I watched him initiate trouble. It is my fault for being a fan and wanting to watch great talent (Because I could have been at a Central game)... Instead I got great attitude which overshadowed talent. I was going to his games with my brother who loves PA and is a Lincoln grad and he said it first, "Man I am not wasting my time and money watching this kid anymore." I still han't been pushed to the end but the next game I went saw he threw off his jersy and left the court.... That antic cost him his senior season. Then I came to the realization that this kid just doesn't care. So I stopped caring. UT is my team so I guess I will be watching him again, but I hope I see a young adult play and not a what I was seeing in high school!
  15. The kid is unreal... I have Tivo and I sat and rewind the alley to Chandler in the fourth and was like.. "he saw that coming" The kid is a immortal!
  16. I don't know smarty :-\ but you must admit it was strange!!!! Him even playing in it with his scholarship on th eline... What if he had gotten seriously hurt? They would not have accepted his LOT!!!! It may have something to do with the fact that Texas could not sign any blue chip recruits... They lost all the recruitment battles and are left with two top 50 players in the last two years.... They took the scraps this year... Now I hope they get the Ebanks kid..
  17. Good for him... Work with him Rick Barnes... He could be a good kid!
  18. Tell you what...All kidding aside...If Calipari COULD take J'Covan, you bet your shorts he WOULD take him....TODAY...He just signed that other big name guard prospect (can't think of his name) so that is no longer an option, but had he not....He would be in P.A. RIGHT NOW!! Tyreke Evans.... murder invlovement/ murder witness.... I think he may be worst thatn J.Brown... And Memphis would have a squad!
  19. McGrady is not Kobe. He plays more within the system... It is hard to score in the forth quater when every Jazz player runs at you and does not respect your team... You have T-Mac out there with a bunch of role players and you guys actually expect them to win.... The starting PG and Center not in the game and nobody over 6'8" playing the post except for Mutombo..... Get real guys and get out of the clouds.... He cannot and will not win with this team unless everyone can stay healthy including himself!
  20. lol... Yeah prep school him for a year then enter the draft.. Loose all elgibility when he doesn't get drafted, wind up playing over seas, then the D-League, before impersonating the Ringly Brothers Circus and jump from one Dleague team to the next. Never corrects his attitude and end up in Port Arthur working at Churches Chicken.... Sounds about right.
  21. UT hasn't signed anybody so they MIGHT keep him... I don't know? They could continue to give that scholarship to Ion Mooney?
  22. I apologize... I went too far with the comments about his father! I feel sad for the kid still!
  23. That is the point... He was so in awe of his ability that he did not even try to!
