  1. Well, personal attacks did not enter the conversation on the Nash thread... It was a little racey but it was a good thread.. you poeple don't get it... contraversy drives this board!!!!!
  2. And he is 6'5" muscular and not 6'2" rail thin
  3. Dickie V I understand you now... it is hard being a GURU!!! 8)
  4. That is a very true statement... That is why the Gamble team stayed in it and had a chance to win... They had better guards!!! In the end the size prevailed because of second chance shots and rebounding!!!! If the game was played NBA style then it would have been a blow-out for the Franchize team... No high school teams boast a roster of three 6'10" players with one playing the wing. This was a put together team with kids from different schools. They put the best bigmen on the same team. But none of these big men won State. The teams that came out of region 3, which is the region all these players were in, were guard oriented teams. Sislbee, Wheatly, and Dulles... My point made... High school Bball is a Guards Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. And the answer to that question is yes! He played post at Hardin because they had no other posts players. He can play the 2 or 3 because he can dribble, he is quick, and has an excellent medium range jumper along with a good outside shot. This kid can go, regardless of what ya'll say, I would put him up against anyone, AND YES I SAID ANYONE, including the almighty Tramain, anyday of the week. Even after a track meet!! Marsh is a good kid whose natural position would be a small forward. He is a little light to play the 5 and probably didn't handle the ball well enough to be 2 guard. He had a great shot from around 12-15 feet but lacked the consistancy from behind the arc for that to be his specialty so he wouldn't fit the mold of a pure shooter in the 3 hole. The kids that made the Gamble team were picked for a position, most of them anyway, and they played the positions well.Tramain,Jarvis and Shannon more than held there own in the backcourt as did the bigs.Daniel Marsh is a good kid who had a great year, that should be reward enough.I have no doubt he could definitely play receiver at the college level, the kid has great hands and super jumping ability. He doesnt even fit small forward... there are no 6'2" small forwards in college....
  6. In a league that has been dominated by one ethnic group since the days of Bird the NBA needed a "Great White Hype!" Larry Bird said it himself on ESPN. He stated cearly that the NBA is a "Black Man's League". He stated clearly that he felt it was a disgrace when a team would put a White defender on him. That is a man that is comfortable with the Truth! I beleive that Dirk and Steve are truely great players but MVP they are not... They both are completely defenseless!!! We all know Lebron was the MVP last Year, But to Dirks credit his stats were better than Nash's in each of the years he one MVP. NASH was ranked the 29 and 40 in scorer in the league both of his MVP years and he wasnt high in any other major stat other than assist and shooting percentage... He did not make the top 50 in steals either, which is a guard's stat. You cannot show me one year other than those two NASH years where the MVP was not in the top 15 in scoring!!! Magic was the closest and he still made top 15 scorers and he also blocked shots and rebounded. He!! no Nash didnt deserve it! He deserves only to be recognized a a great player... Not an MVP!
  7. Yeah they were lean but they still owned the glass... Gamble could not rebound with them. They had put back after putback... The team that makes the most easy shots and second hand shots usually wins the game... And that is what happenned. On the defensive end there was a lot of traffic on the inside and the Gamble team took alot of outside shots... They were lucky that they were falling and it kept them in the game. Easy shots were hard to come by...
  8. You guys are beneathe me... Man Dickie's point is real... No way Marsh plays 4A or 5A at 6'2" and has those numbers... Leaping ability is not the factor for a good rebounder. Its about positioning and timing any coach would tell you that. Also there are far more talented and atheletic players in 4A and 5A so that jumping ability would be nuetralized. And Far more better TEAMS... If I Jacoby on a 2A team he has ridiculous stats too... The level of competition can make your stats look a little better than your game!!! I agree that there are players on the 1-3A levels that are GREAT and can play against big school players, but MOST TEAMS in 1-3A are not that good!!
  9. Yeah Gulley was under-cut by one of the Yates players that was actually an alternate for this game. It looked as if he were going for the Jam!! It was unfortunate but I figured something was broke... The Houston team was BIG, REAL BIG... That won the game for them... They just pounded it inside and got alot of rebounds and put backs... It reminded me of the Texas Stanford Game... Great gaurds of the Gamble team vs. the Bigs of the Houston Team. Breon was a wild man in transition, often going to the rack at will drawing fouls and making baskets. T. Thomas was a hand full all game... Gulley was tough than any 6'10" kid out there and he played really big... I haet his last AAU year is in the bag... It would have been great for exposure. Jacoby played big on D but was just a little slow on his release on his shots. Willie laid an egg because he rode the bench so much and Malbreaux played big. Lopez finished the game at the point.. Wish I would have seen hgim more throughout the game. His back-to-back turnovers in the third got him yanked quick but he hadn't seen much floor time.. He was a little rusty. But he finished the game hitting 5 big free throws at the end and running the point well. The little guard from silsbee was lights out!!!! We here in Silsbee think highly of him too. Shannon kind of reminds me of the little point guard that Lamar has now, Kenny Dawkins. Oh Yeah? Well his jumper was pretty automatic!
  10. Ozens core of Jefferson, Frank, and Johnson will be great... They will fill it in enough to make it potent... Jefferson needs to stay out of foul trouble for them to be dominant next year!
  11. Yeah Gulley was under-cut by one of the Yates players that was actually an alternate for this game. It looked as if he were going for the Jam!! 12. Look at the first and second team Brain.. WHO would Kris and Jacoby be put in front of?????
  13. oNLY ONE SENIOR ON THE FIRST TEAM... THAT IS BIG FOR NEXT YEAR. WE WILL BE IN FOR SOME BIGTIME BALL NEXT YEAR!
  14. BREON WAS VERY AGGRESSIVE NO DISRESPECT HERE AT ALL... THE KID WAS MOST EFFECTIVE PLAYER FROM THE GAMBLE ALLSTARS GOING TO THE BASKET. WHICH WAS HIS STREGNTH ALL YEAR LONG. HE CAN ATTACK THE PAINT. I NEVER DOUBTED THAT. IT WAS FUNNY LOPEZ BARELY GOT ANY RUN (5 MINUTES IN THE FIRST 3 QUATERS) THE ENTIRE GAME BUT WHEN IT WAS ON THE LINE AND THE GAMBLE SQUAD WAS DOWN SIX IN THE 4TH HE WAS PUT IN THE GAME AND THE BALL WAS TAKEN OUT OF BREONS HANDS. THE GAMBLE SQUAD QUICKLEY WENT UP BY ONE. THE LAST FOUR POSSESSIONS LOPEZ DID NOT TOUCH THE BALL. THERE WAS A MADE LAY-UP FOR THOMAS, TWO FREE THROWS FOR THOMAS, A BREON TURNOVER WHEN HE WAS DRIVING THE LANE ON THE ENTIRE TEAM WITH ABOUT THREE GUYS OPEN, A SCORE THERE AND THE GAMBLE ALLSTARS TIE THE GAME, AND A THOMAS DESPERATION THREE... BREON hANDLES THE BALL WELL BUT lOPEZ WOULD HAVE BEEN THE POINT GUARD AND DISTRIBUTED THE BALL. GAMBLE CHOSE TO START BREON AND GIVE HIM THE REIGNS AND HE PROVVED TO BE A GREAT SCORER FOR HIM, BUT WHEN THE GAME WAS ON THE LINE LOPEZ WAS HIS POINT GUARD. NOW DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE?
  15. WHAT? that was not for ME was it? Oh, and by the way...your SAT was not even close to being as high as mine was, and that was taken about 18 years ago, when I was a brainy, athletic, high school 10th grader!! ;D I have gained more knowledge since then...imagine that! :D...Come on BRAIN, let it go...we know you are no dummy.. : No, but he sure does one heck of an impersonation.
  16. Lamar did not belong in that Tourney... It was one of its more talented teams but the coaching was very suspect.... Now I say if you win a mid major D1 Conference you should go to the Dance... Not a 1 and out tournament..... That is where I draw the line... If you have dominated your mid major confernce all year long you go to the dance... If there is a tie then you have a one game playoff... The mid major conference tourny should be for sh!+s and grins...
  17. You know I went to Central... All we did was RaW!!! I Am pretty good at it!
  18. I did not like the Central wise crack joke.. That hurt Dickie... I don't see any scholars coming out of Madison either Dickie.... Yeah that hurts doesn't it Dickie! ;D kidding...
  19. Only because you can win 10 majors in a year... Ittakes 82 games and a playoff just to get one ring! Correction, there are only 4 majors in the calender year. Masters, US Open, The Open Championship ( British Open ) and the PGA Championship. Both MJ's and Tiger's accomplishments are mind blowing, but the question was who was more dominate in their respective sport, and IMO, Tiger has dominated his sport far more than MJ did. It is called sarcasm or an exaggeration!
  20. You guys are real comedy!!! lol Sigman Freud, Albert Einstien, and Aristotle ;D
  21. Only because you can win 10 majors in a year... Ittakes 82 games and a playoff just to get one ring!
  22. Westbrook and Central don't play on the same field!!!
  23. As for as knowing some personally, I do. For instance, I know of three players from Silsbee that had better high school careers than Damion Bush from Silsbee did. They are James Simmons '73, Dexter Wallace '79 and Lloyd McArthur '83. Also Rahn Bailey of Bmt. Hebert '82, Kenneth "Perk" Perkins of BCP '79, Ryan Donohoe '08 HJ ( I know he is more recent, but still left off ) are some that COULD be listed at least honorable mention.I also believe Darryl McArthur, a McDonalds All American from Silsbee, COULD be second team rather than MyKyer of Lincoln. I emphasize COULD not SHOULD, as I will say again, this is Dick's teams and he's just calling it like he sees it. It's all good. Thanks for enlightening me!
  24. If I were Keena I would not have played for him either... They cancelled KT's scholarship at Memphs when Perk went pro... Then Roc leaves and tries to recruit him again? He!! no I would not go... Roc and Memphis did KT WRONG!!!
  25. Christian Laittenner (spelling) got treated the same way in college!
