  1. Ive seen 6 of the top 15 players in '08 class and none of them get close to last year or the old Academy Invitational Players!
  2. Ozen can beat Yates because Boutte won't get caught up in their frantic styles... I haven't seen a Melo' on this years basketball teams... There was no kid in AAU that made me go wow like some in the past... As far as this years crop Oakhill is down but they still have two of the best juniors in the country! The Houston vs. the Nation was a good bench mark... St. Patrick is still ranked top 5!
  3. And I still say if Ozen played this Oakhill team in the half court like they do... They would certainly lose.... tiny Gallon and Brandon Jennings are too good in the half court!
  4. Oakhill is down and I agree but they beat the topped ranked team in Texas 5A... So they are good enought to beat most teams still... Nobody including Ozen would have beat the Oakhill teams that were here in the past... But St. Patrick is as good as advertised!
  5. It is trah that they drop Madison from the Texas top 25 for wo loses to Nationallyy ranked teams!
  6. [ftp=ftp://[Hidden Content]] Yates puts two teams from Texas in the USATODAY/ESPN top 10!!
  7. In fact St. Patrick and Oakhill beat a Madison team that pushed state topped ranked and top five nationally ranked Duncanville up to the last shot, and only lost by two. And Oakhill beat Duncanville by one!!!! So those big NAMES can win some big GAMES!
  8. Man I was there and those two teams will beat most teams in Texas. If Ozen plays a half court game with either one of these team they will lose... The difference was Yates style of play!!!! They were good teams smarty! :
  9. Alot of random elbows that did not get called... Alot of no calls... Refs were horrible on both teams but I think Brook Got the worst end of it. I thouyght we were going to have to cart a player from either team off the court. Brook note... Does Simon have any knowledge of his personnell? He had kids in the game that were not supposed to be in the game in the situations that they were in. He sat Lenard waaaayyy too long. There was foul trouble but when the game is getting out of hand you must put your best players on the court. Brook bought it to within 41 - 51 but the time on the clock was against them and as they began the fouling game... Kingwood made it look like a blowout!
  10. Wheatly has atheletes and bigs that should be off suspension and injury lists by early district... Just a few kids i saw on the summer circuit. Smiley will over achieve this year... They have a dynamic team. Ozen should win both games but they are no pushovers.
  11. You all are fools if you count out Smiley or Wheatly (when and if all of their players comeback)... Yates is the team to beat and after watching Ozen and Yates play this will be a good game. Either or could win but the team that imposes its game plan WILL win. Ozen's slow ball to Yates speed ball!
  12. A big test and a Big statement game will be Friday... Kingwood though not as strong as it has beenplays great D and is well coached... They can beat brook on the coaching side of the ball... Brook will need to play a sound game to win.
  13. I would rather see him at reciever than corner at Central Next year... This kid is a look down corner... Defensive player of the year for JV and freshman squad and played only 10 defensive plays a game at the most. Stump feels that he is too important at WR to do trhat but this kid could have a big furture at CB.
  14. There are two game sthat top my list... Madison vs. Duncanville in the Toyota Center... Duncanville dominated the entire game going up by as much as 15 in the first half... Madison finished the half down by 8. After a pretty even third where Madison only gained one point in its defecit it was an electrifying fourth starting with Madison down by 7. This contest showed crazy passing by both starting guards! Tommy Mason Griffin lost his mind in the fourth scoring 15 of the final 21 points only to fall short 76 - 74. Yates vs Oakhill Academy, Virginia in the Aldine Campbell Center... Yates down by as many as ten in the first half took its first lead midway the third in this frantic battle of high speed basketball. From there 16 lead changes and ties finally left Yates with the last shot. Anthony Jones, a 6'9" wing for Yates and Brandon Genning of Oakhill, the number 1 rated player in the class of 2008, led the way for both squads. But in the end it was Yates clutch PG Xavier Roberson when he crossed over, dibbled to the right, the defense stays with him, he faded back a little and drops a high arcing jumper over the would be defenders out strecthed hand... Then swish... Ball Game!
  15. That lopez kid again... And no he is not hispanic!
  16. It somes down to basketball skills vs athleticism... I think we have a little of both so CHS wins!
  17. [ftp=ftp://[Hidden Content]] Duncanville showed Texas well in the 2007 Beach Ball Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This is one of the showcase tournys in the country along with the following: GlaxoSmithKline Holiday Invitational in Raleigh Houston vs. The Nation Bojangles Shootout in North Carolina These effect national rankings the most!
  18. Believe me or not... I think Reggie Bush has hurt Jamal's draft status... A fast, nimble back out of the back field that cannot (according to the public eye) run between the tackles will not be desirable because of the lack of success that Reggie has had. And he is not the fumbler (if that's a word) that Jamal is... His lack of a good hold on the ball will hurt Jamal but he may be foolish enough to take that chance... He will not be a first round pick, more like third, and at best late second. He could be a first rounder next year... He is not like Vince who was guarenteed top ten, Jamal's stock is iffy... so he should stay another year. But that should does not mean he will.
  19. You answered your own question... Nobody knows there players... They are not udefeated and there are teams with known players that are undefeated to one loss teams!
  20. They have to wait their turn... Yates has lost two games by a total score of 3 pts. so they make a strong case but there are still undefeated team that are really goood. St. BVenedict Prep, St. Anthonys, Montrose Christian, Mater Dei, Nacross, Lincoln NY and one loss Duncanville! Yates deserves to 10 to 15 at least!
  21. If he is gone for the season... That is a BIG blow to this team!
  22. Jack Yates... My God... Those kids can play. They have a guard who simply jumps out of the gym... They have a point that the coach has all confidence in. They have a little rainbow shooter... They have a little speedster.... They can all mix you up and break your ankles. Even the 6'10" small forward (3 pt. shooter) that they start at Center. These guys will be hard to beat. As for the game... simply exciting. Good basketball and it was very sound basketball. Dunking, shooting and good d! Yates took the lead in the 3rd quater again then played sound ball to get the win. With all that said... Ozen don't be intimidated you have the guard play to play with these guys and the coach to do it. Those National teams have never seen a team that will press and run the entire game and they played right into that tempo... Boutte will slow this down. Yates and Ozen will be a good game. Watch out for Smiley they are big and athletic... the entire bench is small though. They start two wings at 6'7 and three guards at 6'3, 6'4, and 5'10. WB... 5A is loaded... Kingwood will not be a pushover... Best defense I saw and the play sound and mistake free. Madison is good but if you stop Tommy Mason-Griffin they can be beat, run two men at him and play #30 close nobody else will step up. Cy-Springs can flat out play... They beat Yates by 1. Hastings can play with anyone. Klien collins is talented glad they moved the Klien teams out of this region.
  23. I was there!!! Madison vs. St. Patrick Tommy Mason-Griffin for Madison is a man.... If his players would have made shots they could have been right in the game... But he played alone and St. Patrick's coach is the real deal... He took the ball out of his hands and no one stepped up. # 1(6'3") and # 11(6'8") for St. Patrick made a great guard-center combo. Jack Yates & Oakhill All guards yates... They literrally have 5 guards on the floor at all times... Even there 6'10" center is a guard. They pressed the bus driver all the way to the game.. then pressed the coach to the locker room then pressed Oakhill for 32 minutes. Great guard play won this game.. Early on Yate was scared of all the height and athleticism of Oakhill but they calmed down as the game went on.. They took the first lead in the thrid 61-60 and it was to trhe wire from there... Their coach almost over coached them by going to the stall ball when his team had rythm. Brandon Hennings of Oakhill is the number 1 player in the nation and probally the number one snow-birder too. They had a kid from Atascasida (spelling) on their team that was a big monstar. # 23 from Yates is a six foot soph. guard who simply jumped out the gym, he has springs in his legs.. revers side dunks and alleys over bigs... This game featured like 20 dunks. Yates is good and will give Ozen Hell in 4A regionals.
  24. Yeah he plays WR and CB (led the JV and Freshman team his 9th and 10th grade year in interceptions and did not sstart on Defense) but he quit football to pursue basketball... I would love to see him on the field too!!!
