yeah the green practice jerseys really worked well with the gold pants and helmet, IMHO... ;D Yeah offensively the passing game looked good; the receivers and both quarterbacks showed why LCM did so well in 7 on 7, and it was complimented by what appears to be an improved pass blocking o-line. Ground game-maybe not so much. Running backs had several 20+ yard runs, but were met in the backfield or at the line too many times; run-wise, o-line didn't look too much better than last year. Defensively-story was similar. The Bears pass defense looked much like last season (led district in pass defense); outside of one blown coverage Brazoswood had no 10 yard + completions, and several passes were deflected and one was intercepted. Run defense looked good early but wore down and had much trouble stopping Brazoswood as the scrimmage wore on. Although it should be noted that Brazoswood made it to the 4th round of 5A last year on the shoulders of that run game. Bottom line-better version of last year's Bears-strength in passing game and pass defense, weakness is probably in ground game.
I will say this... If LCM's D-line is as big and quick as what I saw yesterday GCM will struggle running the ball. Their qb did a good job on the read run plays and did not seem afraid to lower his shoulder and run through tacklers. He had success running and throwing and believe he had a good td run called back. Receivers are so big they can be a problem for some smaller DB's. How is LCM's D-line?
LCM's d-line starters are quicker than pretty much anybody, but besides Hayden Reed (the shotput and discus guy who is 6' 3'', 235) they are not very big. And the secondary could definately improve their tackling, but pass defense wise the DBs are certainly above average. -
You can dream on about LCM and 7 on 7 but with noone rushing the QB they will struggle with their small receiving core.
haha funny. You can "dream on" if you think Gonzales won't throw for 200+ -
Good post. LCM went to the playoffs in '92, '94, '95, and '97. They have not made the playoffs since 1997 and I think they only made it once previously. And btw, does anyone know what happened to the historical data.

I tried to do that the last time taxes went up...you know, make the government give in and lower them. Unfortunately, I guess it is not the same situation. ;D -

LOOK OUT FOR THE BEARS IN 2010, as they will be a definite playoff contender.
Yeah, finishing the game situation with Brazosport having a score and LCM having NOTHING..sounds like a pretty dominating game for the cubbies. On the lossing end of 1-0, thats dominating? Yep, I think you guys are going to state.
In the words of the great Tom Hanks toy story character Woody, Thunderlicious, "you are a sad, angry little man."(...who was clearly not at the game.) We already corrected Bear Claw (who was also probably not at the game), and no one else said anything about dominating, although it was a good first showing for the Bears. To be fair, when LCM's first O was in in the controlled scrimmage they scored every time. And several starters, including Gonzales were only in one possession in the live portion. And besides, don't get on him too bad for being excited about his team. I can recall several examples of you being significantly more "enthusiastic" than that. -

haha, well I did get the low down from LCM's o-line coach, who probably was overemphasizing their inability to rush the ball ;D. Although until I see it, I think GCM will have a lot of trouble passing -
Sorry about that jg Thanks for clearing that up. LCM looked very good.
Agreed. It was very smart for Coach Crouch to go against such a heavily run-oriented team, considering that it was definately a weak spot last year. For anybody who says 7 on 7 doesn't matter, I invite you to watch the game tape to see how good LCM's passing game look, especially considering that it was the first scrimmage of the year. Yet they are still just a better version of last year's team; their strength is passing and defending the pass, their weakness is in on the ground. :'( -

Guys they had 14 total yards and no first downs. Vidor offense had 208 yds on 35 plays ( almost 6 1/2 yds per play) Vidors jv (white helmets) played half of the reps.. Its a scrimmage. Both teams will be fine.
We ran the ball well at times but the pass blocking was absolutely terrible!!!! This is an area we have to be better at.Defense played pretty good.
Since when was anybody at Vidor worried about "pass blocking?" ;D and you would think that they both would be looking to scrimmage more popular offenses, since both are already used to it and neither will play to many games against it.

Goose Creek Memorial played Cy-somebody today, and really got it handed to them. Losing Price Jacobs will hurt them, and for most of their offense it will be their first varsity game. LCM, on the other hand, has a ton of players that have started 15+ games. They looked better than last year when they scrimmaged Brazoswood today. And their pass defense is one of the best in the area (led the district last year and returns 3 of 4 secondary guys). GCM will be in serious trouble if they can't run the football effectively. Their defense should be stingy, but I don't see their offense being able to put up enough... LCM 21 GCM 10 -
Honestly, I have missed only a hand full of games since WOS became WOS. I remember I was in the 6th grade when the school started and we went to all of the games then with my buds, I didn't miss any in highschool my first 2 years then I was playing my second 2 yrs. I missed a couple of games while off at college, but I still drove home for most of them and caught all of the playoff games. Since I graduated from college I have not missed many.
No, I mean several sports, but the most notable for both schools baseball and football. Baseball we smacked LCM 9-0, 7-3. Then we went deep in the playoffs beating Magnolia that put ya'll out. Football we were district champs, went to the playoffs (Where was LCM?) and lost to the Finalist Brenham Cubs. I have an extra purple shirt for you since you love to talk about PNG so much ;)
So, last year, PNG finished higher in 1. Football 2. Baseball 3. Girl's Track 4. Boy's Soccer 5. Girl's Soccer 6. UIL (PNG won district, LCM finished second) LCM finished higher in 1. Volleyball 2. Boy's Basketball 3. Girl's Basketball 4. Boy's Track 5. Girl's Golf 6. Girl's Powerlifting Both teams tied with Nederland for 1st place in Softball Obviously, this is not a complete list, because I don't know about the more obscure sports (tennis, swimming, cross-country) or how PNG did in boys powerlifting. But I'd gladly accept the shirt, because I don't like messing up rags when I'm drying the tires on my truck! ;D

Really? Is Kirbyville in Texas? Don't you like need to go feed the horses or milk the cows or something. :D
Wait, you mean in football, right? And being the reigning district champs is not the same as being this year's district champs, which, in case you missed it, is sorta the point of "predictions". However, I agree with you about the Kirbyville fan, that was a wierd decision to come pick a fight with a 4A team that they have nothing to do with
