Since D3zii seems to be under the weather ( :D :D ), I will quickly come in and say... Ain't gonna happen. We let you escape last year... But all seriously, here are my picks. 1. Central - D. Heard will be offensive player of the year next year 2. PN-G - What Faircloth have done with the Indians last year was NOT a one hit wonder. Just watch and see. 3. Nederland - If you want to win, you start Forney on offense, point blank. 4. Ozen - I don't know what was missing last year, but it sure in the heck wasn't athletes 5. Vidor - No question if they can move the ball... Question will be on the defensive side of the ball... 6. LC-M - Crouch, this is not 3a ball here. 7. Livingston - No Quinton Jackson... No Keke Johnson... No playoffs. 8. Lumberton - No offense, but back to your rightful place.
Wait, what do you mean by "Crouch this is not 3a ball here."??? Did anyone else notice the huge improvement at LCM last year. And they are returning 16-17 starters (all skill positions) and are in the second year in the system. How could you possibly not put them top4??? (That track team that has been competitive, coming in 2nd at Lumberton, has 1 senior...) Oh, and Lumberton will not be cellar dweller next year...

Does anyone know who will be there. I have, through extensive investigation, discovered that at least the following three teams will be there: 1. LCM 2. Lumberton 3. Vidor (assumption)

Wow check out LC-M boys. Came in second with respectable showing in relays (won the 4x1!) By the way, LCM's jv boys won first place. This is in stark contrast to the lcm girls, who could very likely come in last at district :-[
True, PNG is losing a "stud running back", but remember, he wasn't a stud RB LAST yr. He only became a "stud" under the new system, and I look to re-load with another better than average RB again this yr. We'll be fine, trust me.
Yeah with as many players as PNG has, they are never worried about a loss of seniors, and i don't think the importance of a hard-working off-season can be stressed enough (10-15 pounds, added speed, strength, and improved skill set.) Take LCM's gameday programs from the last two years-being the only one i can back with factual evidence: you can see significant added weight on almost all of the non-linemen.
Enlighten me on this
Several flare-ups resulted in a group of Vidor fans (overflow, had to sit on LCM side) had to be escorted out by police for inappropriate behavior, though in fairness, an LCM student was also forced to leave. There was also reports of less-than-friendly heckling by Vidor fans as LCM walked to and from the locker room at half-time and at the end of the game. Most comments were simply untasteful, although there were reports (and I, at the concession stand, heard one fan myself) of racial slurs...However, i am obviously calling out vidor fans in general.

LCM has from 14-16 returning starters (depending on how and when you count it.) They have 4 or 5 players from last year's freshmen team that will make immediate contributions. They have 10 players that will graduate 3-year starters, and lose none of the skill position players on offense, besides Johnny Epps, who started the first 5 games but was primarily cornerback the second half of the season. However, they do play both PNG and Nederland away, inexplicably, for the second straight year. Anyways... 1.PNG-losing a bunch, but PNG always is senior dominant. Faircloth really knows how to capitalize at such a football-crazy school. 1a. Central-also lost a bunch (i think losing Hale will hurt them worst.) However i seem to remember counting out last year's team for the same reason. The returning running back (Heard?) is legitimate 1b.LCM-obviously my favorite team, but with all those returners in the second year of Coach Crouch's system, with how much they improve from '08 to '09... 4.Nederland-Surely Forney will qb again next year, it's just surprising they didn't put him there sooner. I think, as far as returning players goes, Nederland is better off then Central or PNG 5.Lumberton-has Ryan's Hughes and Asher returning, as well as a host of will-be juniors and seniors. I see them being better than last year, but the loss of Jesse Sparks, Kyler Keith, Anthony Beard, etc will hurt them 6.Ozen-The two running backs are back, and that should keep them out of the district basement. 7.Livingston-I believe Blake Burnman was a junior. Also, they had a big sophmore rb who should be decent. But last year's team wasn't impressive and i don't see why this year's team will be any better. 8.Vidor-by far, the biggest disappointment of last season. You had a team with a huge number of returning starters, many of which had played varsity since their sophomore year. Vidor was the hot choice for district champs. They dominated non-district (albeit against lesser competition.) They ended up crawling into the play-offs and bowing out in the first round. They have no speed on a team with 3 returning starters. And btw, the fan's conduct at last seaon's homecoming game against LCM was shameful and embarrassing.
How do you figure LCM is in a tie for the title?
No, now nederland and ozen will play for district title...I didn't know that i thought it was only when two teams tie for play-off spot that they play.
VAN WADE Folks, the Orange Bowl has been put to rest. Thats right, no LC-M vs. WO-S. Thats a game that always draws a tremendous gate. Guess WO-S can put away the trophy again for a few more years, maybe store it at the Godwin Auditorium and let it draw some dust. So what if the Bears have only defeated the Mustangs twice in nearly 25 tries, LC-M should still play that game. Both fan bases love attending that game because there are so many families and friends involved in the whole deal. I never see WO-S get upset when they fall to LC-M big in baseball, softball, golf, tennis or volleyball and they continue to play the Bears in those sports despite being in a lower UIL classification.
1. I would really like to have heard Coach Crouch's opinion on this...it would seem THIS year would be one of the more opportune times to play WOS (on account of LCM's optimistic outlook on next season)... 2. What about boys basketball. This is one of the first times in a while that they played

thats possible... but being were talking about football on a football thread and you made the comment that they were "fighting for playing time" i dont see it being an academic issue. maybe their family moved to the district and had no choice or maybe these playeres couldnt cut it at wos and didnt have a shot at sniffing the grass on the wos football field and they saw the writing on the wall. see like it or not alot of players will gladly trade coach t's offseason, expectations, and discipline for easier practices, lower expectations, less of a tradition, and alot less wins and head north on hwy 87. :'( :'(
Coach Pierce is the new coach t. And i recall dan hooks saying after the orange bowl last year that "lcm was in better shape than (his) guys" But hey, you can think what you want. -

LCM-like last year-once again has former players coming back out who should contribute as well as several former WO-S guys who should impact. Also watch out for several of the freshman from last year, LCM will likely start 4-5 sophomores on a team that returns-depending on how you count it-14 to 16 starters already. I believe that there is also optimism in the second year of an offensive and defensive system drastically different from the Moody years. The bears will have 8 to 10 three-year starters, mostly sophomores (one freshman). It would seem that the sophomore laden class of 2007, a year which will go down in shame in Bear Country, will pay dividens. And there is always the Hunter Gonzales-Zack Sonnier connection, although one should definately expect more production from the likes of returning impact players at receiver-Preston Armstrong, Tyler Wright, Danniel Harrison, and Elliot Perry (a starter before sustaining a season ending wrist injury during the first scrimmage after catching a couple of passes. On defense, expect significant contributions from new guys, as several sophomores and a couple of WO-S transfers fight for playing time. This in a unit that only loses 3 starters, and played respectibly when motivated. However, dont expect the size dilemna on the d-line to be solved anytime soon. The d-line will remain potent pass-rushers but will face severe handicaps against bigger offensive lines. Both kickers, who were first timers a year ago, return, and Gonzales will man the Punter spot for a third straight year. Tevvin Jones will return kicks for a third straight year, and super-quick Aldric Jones will likely be one of the two punt returners.
wow, if these guys are fighting for playing time at lcm they wouldve never seen the field at wos! good move on their part! ;) ;D ;D ;)
One of the wo-s guys is a highly talented freshman, who also is close to top of the class at LCM. maybe he just wanted a more stimulating academic enviornment... -
ok, here it goes. In 7th and 8th, lumberton and vidor. That is pretty much a wrap. PNG could theoretically take 5th but with their remaining schedule it is only conceivable that they will finish 6th. Ozen takes 1st. So if we are to ASSUME that the remaining teams will beat the bottom 3, the standings begin to look like this 2. Nederland (9-3) plus central and livingston 3. Central (8-4) plus ned and livingston 4. Livingston (7-5) Plus LCM, ned and central 5. LCM (7-6) plus livingston What this means is that: 1. with an LCM victory friday, Livingston (because of having lost twice to LCM) will most likely have to beat central and nederland, and hope central loses to ned. Then you have 3 teams tied for 3rd and i'm not sure how that works out. 2. with a livingston victory, LCM will need to win out (including Ozen) and hope that livingston loses against ned and central, once again creating a three way tie. Of course these are some pretty big assumptions...

Is Yates running up the score right or wrong?
bojonomore replied to Leftover Cheese's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Wait, so a HIGH SCHOOL team that clearly overmatches another should have no problems with totally demoralizing them? this isn't the pros, or college; most of these kids play for the love of the game. It is not with the "oversensitivity" of an old lady that I say this--beating teams by 40 has the same effect as beating them by an 80. And i've been on both sides of the situation; it is a classless thing to beat the snot out of a bunch of high school kids. Last year school A (not naming names) beat school B in football by a comically excessive ammount. School B returned the favor in baseball, winning by about 25 runs (cant remember exactly) and would of scored more without a mercy rule. How are either of these things right? -
Yeah! LCM is a-mowing 'em down! 4-2 in district!

WOS vs LCM.......Will They Play?
bojonomore replied to mustangfan2's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
No matter how many teams in district next year, BC will prolly be weaker than anyone in non-district that LCM plays next year. And as far as WO-S, who decided that it is officially Coach Crouch backing out of the Orange Bowl? He is not Todd Moody (who still played the game anyways.) And next year's Bears are returning more players and on a considerable upswing in comparison with the --relatively--bad year for WO-S -

Whoa hold on soulja, i agree with the rest of the post but 1) the long td at the end of the first was called back by a VERY BLATANT hold on the outside containment for lcm, and 2) what about the nonexistant pass interferences by central secondary. Not one to complain about officiating, but 2 or 3 of those no-calls were really really debatable. But like i said, no offense the rest of the post summed up the game pretty well. oh and the lcm corners are 5'9 and 5'8, but i get what your saying. -
LC-M vs. Nederland Predictions?
bojonomore replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
LCM has a good pass defense, and outside of about 4-5 runs really played very well against central's run game (not making excuses, just saying.) And nederland probably- ;D - doesnt have the speed at running back that central has. Undersized bears 17, crippled bulldogs 10 -
its going around but its no epidemic, maybe 1 or 2 starters out

To the guy who said lcm can't stop pass and hasn't played a d of PNG's caliber- 1.WO-S. Enough said. 2. LCM holding opponents to 75 yards a game passing
