  1. I really have no idea. I was just wondering if the voucher would cover the open enrollment fee at the other district? Being that locally the private school options are very very limited.
  2. Good point. I was curious how that would work. So it kind if turns into sports recruiting? Could the voucher money be used to pay the open enrollment fee at say, East Chambers or Fannett or HJ?
  3. So in that case, if there is nowhere to go would the family just get to keep the 10K or whatever the provided amount is? It seems that locally there aren't very many options, unlike a city like Houston or Austin.
  4. So how would this work locally? Kid goes to BISD and wants to get out. Is it Kelly or Legacy and that's it? Both of those are probably more than the voucher would be. And I think the private elementary and middle schools are already busting at the seams.
  5. Open enrollment is one factor that is hurting BISD football. There are a large number of kids that physically live in Beaumont that are attending other districts that do have open enrollment. There is an even larger number of students that are doing so for Academic reasons. Just pay the fee and they can attend.
  6. Whoever wins, what is really going to change in Southeast Texas. Does it really matter?
  7. For a long time Freshman were on an entirely different campus and did not play varsity sports. Little Brook for Life.
  8. Position by position I'm not sure that the Beaumont schools match up very well with the teams in their district. North Shore lines up defensive backfield D1 straight across (in general). Usually with one or two D1 lineman a major college defensive end and a superstar linebacker. It's just Satan's District, all it is.
  9. I will not pretend to understand how all this works, but can't the GOP use the same mail-in-voting apparatus? What do those numbers look like?
  10. If you were to combine you would have many more athletes leave the district for the surrounding schools. Around half of those currently participating would not be on the team and inevitably some of those that stayed would eventually leave because it is easier to make the team elsewhere.
  11. Was it a benching or a safety issue?
  12. Did WB take Jenkins out of the game?
  13. Off hand, would you remember if any of them played sports?
  14. Oh wow, so all you have to do is be able to get there?
  15. Truth. But I was referring to open enrollment in surrounding districts. For 1K you can go to HJ, HF, EC and maybe a few others. Now I don't think you can play varsity your 1st year but the next year I believe you can.
