how does that make me a moron?? i would never tell a kid not to shoot thats counter productive... im in the stands because i graduated moron... Yeah let me tell i havent gradumacated high skool yet. you do not understand coaching and are just the type of person who wants to beat people by 200 and doesnt care about sportsmanship or character. I am a kelly fan and i think kellys girls beating milburn by that much was wrong. they should have never scheduled that game or let their jv play the game there is no point in playing games like that. now if milburn would have been a district game you slow the game down make your kids pass the ball alot and leave the game. wow did i say to not rebound or block out you play the game but if you have to make 15 passes a game you do it you run the spread dribble the clock out shorten the game. o we forgot the almighty lazeek and his infinite knowledge of the game of basketball. he knows all because he coaches little dribblers i think lazeek knows a lot more than you think... you dont know what you are talking about... what do you think is more embarassing losing to the #8 team in 3a by 60... or knowing that you arent even good enough to play on the same court as someones varsity so they sent out there jv because your team wasnt worthy... that shows less sportsmanship and character then anything ive said

Because it is high school basketball and that is the point that is lost in this whole point that it is not the nba it is not the coaches job to beat teams by as many as possible. Yes it is important to win games but part of a coaches job to not only make his kids better basketball players but better human beings. That is where character and humility come into play. I can assure you that from a HJ fan and supporter of HJ that Coach Sutherland has never purposely ran the score up!!!!!!! He is always quick to put his reserves in when the game is well in hand. I have seen other teams including Silsbee do the same. The problem is that alot of bench players on some teams is that they are just better than the kids from the other teams that they are playing. I have an idea. Friday night when HJ has the game in control maybe Coach Sutherland will tell his players to not shoot, make 15 passes per possession, not to rebound, not to block out and just go stand in the corner and let the other team try to get back in the game......how does that sound??? : : : : hahahahahaha ;D ;D

Who cares who plays friday? Who cares about basketball? Who cares about SETXSPORTS? The people that religously write on and read this board care and have earned their right to post their mind. High School sports are still a part of the school day because it teaches adolescent kids life lessons. And kicking somebody while they are down is not a life lesson I want anybody to teach my kid. Win, be competitive, great, but OVERKILL, I ask again WHY? dont get all emotional kujo

HJ beat Bc 109 to 40 last year don't throw stones when you live in glass house Im not from HJ so what glass house am I living in? What you think because I said something about Silsbee being a poor sport that I must be from HJ or do you just not understand the meaning of the quote you're throwin around. And second of all I would never tell a kid to quit or to pass up on a layup, but I would have them quit shooting three's and look for the open layup. You can also use these types of games as an opportunity to work on some things. Have you ever seen a team need to slow the pace of a game down to protect a small lead in the closing minutes. Silsbee could have worked the ball around a little bit. BC may have played bad, but I am sure they didn't just stand in the circle at half court and leave the goal ungaurded. There are other options. silsbee scored the majority of its points in the second half off bridge city missed shots and turnovers... they did what they were taught get the ball out and go thats the style thats has always worked for silsbee run and gun, and when they got it off a dead ball they did run somethings offfensivly they just happen to score everytime they did and BC couldnt answer.... only a couple of threes in second half were even being gaurded by BC are you saying that kids should pass up the opportunity to shoot a wide open 3 in a game situation just because they are ahead by a lot? do NBA teams pass up shots ever?!?! i saw the suns get blown out the other night the team they were playing never slowed down never quit trying to score... Well first of all I wouldn't compare high school basketball to professional basketball at any angle. Professional basketball is a disgrace to the sport and if you actually sat and watched an entire game of that 3pt line to 3pt line race then it already says so much. Second of all, you're dang right I would tell a kid to pass up on a wide open three in a game situation. Would you want your kid shooting a wide open three if you were down 2 with 20 seconds left in regulation??? There are situations where passing up on open 3's is okay and up 50 is one of those situations. Absolutely i would let him shoot it.... he cant make what he doesnt shoot... and thats a dumb question if he's wide open yea he'll shoot it he'd be crazy not too... why does it matter much you are up when shooting threes?? its not like they were showboating they just took WIDE OPEN SHOTS there's nothing wrong with that.... Which is why you're in the stands while others of us are on the floor. Cause you just don't get it. Next year you'll find a new band wagon to ride, buy yourself a new hat and shirt, and cheer for another 100 point team. That is why you feel the way you do, band wagon riders don't understand what it's like to lose because when things get bad they just find someone else to cheer for. sorry rootbeer i paid my dues already i wore the tigers jersey for four years and now i watch from the stands... i wont care about any other team after this season... ill probably never be on this board again after march because ill have no reason to watch silsbee play anymore all my ties will be gone... but im sorry i hurt your feelings roy.... youre right i dont know what its like to lose

But go ahead Silsbee live it up you beat a team by 60 wooooo hoooo. how am i a moron than??? what is than??? they didnt do anything wrong yall just need to quit being such whiney babies....

That's a Varsity game brother. In addition, you don't want ANY of your players to get in the habit of holding back. You play the whole game, 110%, and you go home. If they don't like it, then they will do something about it. The other team has no liability for your tears other than mopping them off the floor with you. i like your style mclovin

Bridge City @ Silsbee broadcast here/Silsbee Wins!
#10gwh replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Silsbee only suited out 9 players last night. Starting post Stallworth did not play for medical reasons and 2 other players are ineligible. The JV player that I thought would be moved up will not be moved up till Feb. 4. All 9 players are the regular rotation for Silsbee, minus Stallworth. that does help explain it. the only retort i have to that is that if all 9 are in the regular rotation, the common reasoning "you can't ask your subs to come in and not give 100%" does not really apply, and the foot should've been taken off the gas rather than pressed down harder. the tigers were in a half court defense for just about the entire second half.... it was just that lopsided i felt bad for bridge city.... i will say this though.... they pass the ball way too much they would pass up all of the shots they did get... they ran a good offense but everytime they couldve shot they passed it... -
