  1. When does everyone start going to Rayburn or Toledo in seach of bass beginning to spawn? Late January seems a little early. What do you all think?
  2. Just wondering if a buck will rub in the same area every year? Comments appreciated.
  3. I leave for SE. Kansas on the monday after Thanksgiving. Rifle is sighted in, hunting clothes are packed, truck filled with gas. It will be interesting to actually hunt deer, not just wait for them to come to a feeder and be harvested. With rifle season only ten days long, the hunt will be from dawn to dusk. Will let everyone know the outcome when I get back.
  4. Just got back from SE. Kansas. Got my deer permit to hunt on my aunt's ranch. It was not as difficult as I expected. Filled out a couple of forms, paid $49, got my permit and now I'm ready to go. Only problem is that the rifle season is only 10 days. Last weekend of Nov. thru first weekend of Dec. Hope the big one shows early. Will let everyone know how I did when I get back
  5. Let me see if I can remember what my mother said to me, "Don't count your chickens before they hatch". Silsbee needs to focus on HF first. Everything else will happen when it happens. The old adage, "One game at a time".
  6. A good part of coaching is putting a player in a position that they can be somewhat successful. Success breeds success. To me, I think that that is the greatest role of a coach. Once they see success, then they can be motivated and coached to a level greater than they themselves believed they could achieve.
  7. Beau Da Ville needs to bo on the O'fields list as well as Bradley Peveto
  8. Did someone forget Little Joe Washington? Jeff Granger wasn't a slouch either.
  9. Went on a quail hunt east of Wichita and saw some very big deer. Found some sheds that were very heavy and impressive. Found a skull of a buck approx 5 years old when he died. Fourteen point non typical. People in the area were impressed but not awed. Said that was typical for the area. I know where I'm going to hunt next year, in my aunt's pasture.
  10. Their region may have been weak, but a three point loss in the state championship is not too weak. Starting Qb wasn't 100% either. Weak region or not, this program is close to SLC just in a different division.
  11. Hey Coop, I know your a big wos fan, but why are you bashing Celina so much? They have a super program up there. If you know anything about GA Moore and others up there, you would learn that they have a very good program to build good, decent, character. Prayer is a big part of their program and in these days, that is overlooked by a lot of teams. Good job Celina, for a team up from 2A. Let's watch for next year.
  12. Have you seen Celina play? If I were WOS, Giddings, or anyone else, I wouldn't like to have them on my schedule. You might think that you are making history, but tradition is a powerful motivator. Ask Southlake-Carroll. You can't win that many games and not play some really good teams. Celina by 10+
  13. Why Liberty Hill? I think Celina is a little more experienced in matters of State Championships. Having played in one experience means alot.
  14. Someone said that deer season has a roll over week. Dec. 2 thru Dec. 9 in which the season in Texas is closed. This is new to me. Anyone heard of such a thing?
  15. For your information, Silsbee has 3 underclassmen that atart on the Off line this year. The center, right guard and left tackle. The junior left tackle is probably as good as their right tackle. Just hasn't gotten the the ink yet. Some D-l's are already looking at him.
  16. Didn't Splendora lose to Orangefield early in the season? If I'm not mistaken, I think they did by four points. Just thought that I would add that to the mix
  17. Don't forget Silsbee's Donnovan Harris
  18. It is easier for a right handed qb to throw rolling to their left because they are able to push off of their right foot and step towards their target with their left foot. Their momentum will aid in the velocity of the throw going left. If they are going to their right, their momentum is parallel or away from their target.
  19. After the first day of two days practices, a SETEX coach exclaimed"We sure didn't breed'em, but we got to coach 'em.
  20. Had a junior high coach that would give out statements of advice, but one in particular stuck with me until this day. "Boys", he would say,"The biggest thing about football is that you have to have a lot of desire, DEZIRE" No one tried to correct him or we would have been doing grass drills till after dark.
  21. Just a note to the trash talkers. Nothing that has been said has won or lost a game that hasn't been played yet. Let the two teams decide the outcome on the field. I'm sure if you asked anyone directly involved in the game: players, coaches, etc. you would see that they respect each other and want to win. After the game and the adrenaline slows, they will still respect each other and enjoy playing another game. Good luck to both
