2. Both teams start the year good, it should be good game, but Friendswood takes it.

With Cameron LaCour and the Crosby player coming in back to back years. Ive known the LaCours for nearly 15 years, and know that they are stand up people. So, i know that one was at least clean.  I watched all the LaCours except Cameron put on the Purple for the Wildcats, and Cameron was actually suppose to come back to Humble (the area in which Mrs. LaCour lived) the year he transferred to Dayton...His mother was offered a position at Dayton i believe and that was a better fit for Mother and son...all her kids have had a hands on experiance with their mother in regards to track...and LaCour was 100% track kid. That is one truly athletically gifted family...LaCours oldest brother i believe still holds the 100M dash record at Humble, and his Sister Karyen Lacour (nebraska) won 2 state titles while at Humble and holds the record in 100M hurdles.
We have a whole wing at Dayton HS dedicated to the teacher/parents of transferred athletes. We dont have enough students so they just hang out all day, drink coffee, fix grades and rig steroids tests.
Theirs talent at Dayton, that is for sure. and for a school with such a low enrollment number and apparently partcipation percentage i am rather impressed with the quality of athlete they field.  it really helps them remain competivie. You can say what you will about dayton, but their coaching has obviously shown that they can take good atheltes and make them into football players....
Thank you, we appreciate the compliment.
He has been the kicker at Crosby for last 2 years..but did not even make all district..This is a problem i have with all these top 100 and so on list...A lot are based on how well you do at camps put on by Rivals,Nike,Scout and so on...I have heard he does real well at kicking camps and FNF is basically a rivals magazine..Its like some of the kids went up on there ratings because they performed well at 7 on 7 ...Now thats nothing but touch football....In one of the magazines it list top 20 QB's in Texas and 11 of them still do not have an offer, but they all spent the 500.00 to have Randy Rogers promote your son...The college coaches laugh at all these ratings we are in awe over.....
I hear you bigdaddyblue, you are dead on!
 7.
The thing is with these two teams, they are either really good or really bad.  You just never know.  I have seen Jasper play in a State game and the next few years can't beat Liberty.  BH dismantled Lumberton year after year, then along comes Beard and a good QB and they make a good run.  That's whats fun about this game, things change and as fans it's more fun NOT to admit it....  ;D I'll go with Jasper because they have more tradition.
Well said...
 8.
Panamyers - That Baytown Lee schedule is brutal for the first 8 games, then you got a new rival GC for the last game.  This could be a long season unless they come out with something to prove.
That will be the cross town rival for years to come. I don't think Lee or Sterling want none of GCM.
 9. BH will beat Crosby this year, and everyone knows BH cant beat Dayton. Bad news for the cougars, bottom of the 19-4A barrel. 1. Dayton 2. BH 3 or 4. King/Crosby
 10.
Question for Dayton how do you plan to beat Crosby if you can't score? Crosby held you to ZERO yes ZERO last year and return 7 from that defense!  IMO Crosby will be on top this year no question about it, but if Dayton is going to make up a 28 point deficit  that they obtained last year against Crosby Green and Dougat is going to have to come back ;D 1.) Crosby 2.) Dayton 3.) BH 4.) GCM
The answer to all your questions is, be the better team. We will just have to score 60 points this year to get our average back up.

Dayton has a good team I am sure, but they lost to Crosby last year and nearly got beat by Barbers Hill. They may win the district, but they are certainly not in a league of their own.
Our league starts November 12th, maybe we'll see you there.
Since 1994, Lee has made the playoffs 12 times in 5a, Dayton 14 times in 4a. Lee has more all time wins, a better winning percentage and more state title appearances than Dayton.... But, if you want to talk about history then maybe we should start another thread. In this....the 2010 football season...Dayton is not in a league of their own.
We will see who is where in a few weeks, you're right history is just that, history. 2010 will be the year Lee starts hatin on Dayton just like the rest of 19-4A.

 13.
Well, if my math is right from 11-Man 1A-5A 544 teams will make the playoffs (128 in 5A, 128 in 4A, 96 in 3A, 48 in 2A (DI), 48 in 2A (DII), 48 in 1A (DI), 48 in 1A (DII) this year and next. If the 6A plan with 4 teams reaching the playoffs out of each region, 768 teams from 11 Man 1A to 5A will make the playoffs.   Is it the "little league" mentality of everyone getting a trophy?  Not hardly.  The bigger justification can be found in Page 15 of UIL Football Manual under Section 1250 (j) of the "Football" Plan which states, "Fifteen percent of the gross receipts of post-district games shall be paid to the [University Interscholastic] League...." For that, you can do the math.
[glow=red,2,300]BOOOOMMM!! Thats hiitin the nail on the head!! Preach!![/glow]
 14. Are steroids widely used in SE Texas? You can’t single us out of the equation, as a nation steroid use is high in every level of sports. We all know it, and have accepted it. It is a moral issue to all of us because it is illegal. If a doctor prescribed it, to help an injury recover faster, who wouldn't be ok with it, especially since we all know the benefits? This issue isn't going away; it is deeply ingrained in the fabric of high performance and high demand world of sports. When careers and millions of dollars hang in the balance, side effects and testing are just that, obstacles not deterrents. Do I like or think its fair? No.
 15.

I understand the dynamic of the shift in demographics.  I understand the lack of participation. All things being equal, you would much prefer to have pop warner, optimist, ymca, junior highs, etc. that all feed into the same system.  It is much easier to build a program. It's the reason why Olin always flirted with other job offers through the years.  He was constantly looking for a 5A school that was the only school in town, wanting to be in control of the whole operation from pop warner on up.
Where did Olin go?
Lewisville
 16. Hats off to all the Schools on their acheivements!!
 17.
Which leads to another point... How much more difficult is it to get a program in place when you have multiple elementary and junior highs feeding into multiple high schools.  I've often dreamed of a day when they would create 6 junior highs, 2 for each high school.  That way the junior highs could run the same systems as the high school.  It's just difficult now to get a head start on it with the kids at any particular junior high all going to one of three different high schools.  There's no way to settle on a system.
You are right, freshman year is like starting all over again.
 18.
I'll tell ya this if we played alternate games each week against each other I'd pick 20-4a to have a higher win/loss % than 19-4a as a whole.Since we don't who the heck knows. What was is in the books, what's in the future the players decide.
Well said, I agree.
 19.
My issue is not so much with the thread being locked.  The issue is that no one says, "Hey, I locked the thread because ______". After reading the thread, soulja gave a couple of warnings, that's more than most of the mods do. One simple suggestion is to have a 21 and up forum that is free of censors, this is something that many successful sites offer.  Whether the rules were broken, that is questionable, I acknowledge the sexual innuendo and allusions.  But an allusion to profanity is not by rule profanity.  It doesn't really matter, but if the rules are to be strictly followed, half of the threads need to be deleted. I'd say any thread that has BlowU in it is in violation.
It is true, we let a lot of things slide and slip through. I have no say over the forum age issue, but this is primarily a HS Sports Forum. Surely, people can clean up their language long enough to discuss their teams. HS and JH Kids/Players/Cheerleaders/Moms/Little Brothers/Little Sisters/Teachers/ etc.. get on here to discuss their teams. If people want to rant, rave, curse and sling filth just do it somewhere else. In no way am saying you have or want to do these things. This site has grown to what it is becuase it is clean and anyone can come and discuss without worrying about content. The rules state that this is a "G" rated forum, I for one think that is the best way to keep growing.
 20.
At 2coolfishing.com the mods actually give an explanation as to why threads get shutdown.  They also respond to requests on threads before deleting them. I enjoy this site but I really think that there could be some improvements made.  After reading through some of the posts, it looks like soulja locked the 19-4A thread, if that's the case, soulja should say why and site whatever rule was violated. The deletion of the thread asking to unlock the thread was chickensomething.  I'm going to take the web traffic elsewhere for awhile.  I hope the mods/admins can do a little better in the future.
I have no idea who locked it but, I agree with it. Many rules were violated and in some cases skirted. Reference body parts, alluding to profanity, and  off hand sexual innuendo's. It needed to stop, it's not our job to re-post the rules everytime someone breaks them. Go read them and then follow them. If you can't we would rather you spend your on-line time somewhere else. Here is a link to the forum rules: [Hidden Content]
 21. Central has historically been tough for Dayton, i guess it would be the overall team speed that Dayton struggles with. I remember that night at Babe in '06. Ford Smesny(Currently, Starting Buck Safety at McNeese) blocked the extra point to save the game for Dayton. It was the second most exciting game i've watched live. In '07 if remember correctly, it was long struggle with Dayton scoring every once in a while. Central had the ball a lot, would march down the field, tried to convert on many fourth downs and not getting many. Central respected Dayton's offense and did not want to give the ball back, they just couldn't punch it in on that 2007 Bronco defense. 20-0 I believe was the final. All that said, no one over in the Beaumont area gave Dayton more trouble than Central,  >:( except Hook's Mustangs.
A real nice run in the playoffs recently is their claim to fame.   8)
A being the key word in that sentence. But. really the Raiders put together some nice teams over the past few years but can they stay up there. I don't think so, and not because of Dayton, the district they are in is just to much for them to rise back to the top anytime soon.
 23.

Scrappy & under estimated they will upset a few foe's 8)
Yep. The Broncos learned this firsthand not too long ago. None of them "chuckled" at all.  8)
Chuckle, chuckle that is their only claim to fame.
 24. So, most likely other 6 man schools will have to expand their schedules to fit them in this year.
