Lumberton vs. Barbers Hill Predictions?
bronco1 replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Lumberton by 2 TD's. -
I remember watching both QB's very well. Of the two teams LT made a much bigger impression on me than SS. Rollison was good but I predict Gilbert will have a lot more success in the future.

Three Coaches from Morton Ranch under investigation
bronco1 replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
There is alot more to this story. I understand the District needing to make immediate decisions for the kids sake but the coaches got a raw deal in this one. None of the allegations against them were proven because the didn't exist. This is a media nightmare for alll involved, the integrity of the Coaches has been questioned without suffiecent evidence but, the District would rather tarnish 3 coaches than the whole school. When I say tarnish, I mean the media dragging them through the mud, school and coaches. When the truth comes out it will be too late, it is too late for the coaches. The District will suffer because they lost 3 good coaches for no real reason. -
Yep Freshman and JV are home tonight.

Entries Available for Big Time Texas Hunts AUSTIN, Texas — The Lone Star State boasts some of the finest hunting anywhere in the country, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Big Time Texas Hunts offer hunters a chance to experience the best of the best. The Big Time Texas Hunts program offers the opportunity to win one or more top guided hunts with food and lodging provided, as well as taxidermy in some cases. The crown jewel of the program is the Texas Grand Slam hunt package, which includes four separate hunts for Texas’ most prized big game animals — the desert bighorn sheep, white-tailed deer, mule deer and pronghorn antelope. There are several quality whitetail hunt packages available, as well as opportunities to pursue alligator, exotic big game, waterfowl and upland game birds. Entries for the Big Time Texas Hunt drawings are $10 each and are available wherever hunting licenses are sold or by calling 800-895-4248. They may also be purchased online this year at a discounted price of $9 each. There is no limit to the number of entries an individual may purchase. Purchasers must be 17 years of age or older. Proceeds from the Big Time Texas Hunts are used to provide more public hunting opportunity and to fund wildlife conservation and research programs in Texas. Here’s a summary of the Big Time Texas Hunts offerings: The Texas Grand Slam — This truly is the hunt of a lifetime. The bighorn sheep hunt is very exclusive; TPWD issues only a handful of permits a year. The bighorn sheep hunt takes place on a West Texas Wildlife Management Area. The other three hunts included in the Texas Grand Slam will be on some of the most exclusive private ranches in the state. The winner may also bring along a non-hunting companion to share in this awesome outdoor adventure. Texas Whitetail Bonanza — Ten winners will each get to experience a high-quality white-tailed deer hunt, something legendary to Texas on popular ranches known to produce big bucks. Guide service, food and lodging are provided on these 3-5-day trips. Each winner can also bring along a companion to hunt as well. Texas Gator Hunt — One winner and a guest will enjoy a rare and unique three-day trip pursuing alligators at the J. D. Murphree Wildlife Management Area on the Gulf Coast. Each hunter may harvest one alligator. All necessary equipment, expert guides, lodging and gator hide removal are included. The winner and guest will also be treated to an airboat tour of the marsh to view alligators. Texas Waterfowl Adventure — One winner and as many as three invited guests will win a series of three exciting waterfowl adventures. The hunts are located on some of the best waterfowl areas in Texas. Trips include a Coastal Prairies guided hunt for snows, blues and white-fronted geese; a guided duck hunt in the Coastal Marshes; and an East Texas hunt for wood ducks and mallards. Texas Exotic Safari — Two winners will experience the thrill of hunting African exotic game right here in Texas on the Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Area in the Texas Hill Country. Each winner can take two exotic species, including sable antelope, gemsbok oryx, scimitar-horned oryx or common waterbuck. Hunters may choose to shoot modern rifle, muzzleloader, archery or crossbow. Winners can also bring along a companion to hunt a management exotic. Food and lodging will be provided at the scenic Mason Mountain WMA lodge. Taxidermy service will be provided for the two winners. Proceeds go to benefit wildlife conservation and research on Mason Mountain WMA. Texas Big Time Bird Hunt — One winner along with as many as three hunting buddies will enjoy a unique package of upland game bird hunts: two days of quail, two days of pheasant hunting in the Panhandle and two afternoons of dove hunting. There will also be a two-day guided spring turkey hunt for two included in the package. Food, guide service and lodging are included on all bird hunts, and pointing dogs are provided for quail and pheasant hunts. Texas Premium Buck Hunt — This is the ultimate deer hunting experience-an opportunity to harvest a trophy white-tailed buck in the rugged South Texas brush country. One winner and a guest will enjoy the finest deer hunting trip that Texas can offer. Professional guide service, food and high quality accommodations are included to provide each hunter comfort as well as great hunting. The deadline to apply for this year’s Big Time Texas Hunts is Oct. 15. Winners will be announced in November.

I would like to see BH make a good showing in this one but, PNG is looking to make a statement with this new offense. I take PNG and give BH 14 points. -
DCTF picked them 5th in a 5 team district. 23-4A 1. Lamar Consolidated 2. Rosenberg Terry 3. Richmond Foster 4. El Campo 5. Bay City According to the arcticle the run a Wing-T with the potential to be pretty good. The coach is supposed to be a strong defensive Coach but only has 2 returners on defense. TPI write up: Bay City was the lone team at home after the regular season and seven players return to try and bring about change for 2009. One thing is for certain, there will be proven guys in the backfield starting with LeTevin Wilcox (5-10, 190). In eight games Wilcox had 884 yards and nine touchdowns. Goodwin Wyche (5-10, 170) and Courtney Finney (5-10, 185) will also get time as well in the backfield.

Dayton -Lumberton Scrimmage/18-14 Lumberton
bronco1 replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I was impressed with Lumberton overall, they do appear to have some depth. We scored our second TD on a mostly 2nd team defense. Their mostly 2nd team offense scored on our first team defense. And by the way I am one of those who considered last years scrimmage as the "superbowl". I couldn't wait to get L-Town back for that 8-7 beatdown they gave us. That said, hats off to Lumberton they looked good last night. As far as we go, Dayton always starts slow and at this time of year its easy to get discouraged but, I feel confident that things will line up pretty well by District. Ploch is trying get a complicated offense down and it will get better. I know the ball handling issues will be addressed. I will admit I am still dry heaving because Lumberton beat us in a scrimmage last night, sorry but it means something to me. -
When the Lee Ganders drop to 4A, where do they go?

That would be great, not sure how things would have to finish to make that possible. Thanks to our UIL buddies. -
When the Lee Ganders drop to 4A, where do they go?

This is true, but District(with the exception of that little mishap in L-Town) was a cake walk the 2 years we were there. The Central game in 2006 and Lumberton in 2007 was the only resistance we had in that district. -
I know this is college stuff but, thought ya'll might be interested. Freshman Green learns offense, shows maturity [Hidden Content] By BRIAN CHRISTOPHERSON / Lincoln Journal Star Wednesday, Aug 19, 2009 - 12:09:37 am CDT The voice. That is the first thing Husker veterans bring up when asked about Cody Green. “We said he sounds like the Allstate guy on the commercials,†said center Jacob Hickman. “He already sounds like a grown-up.†“He comes up there with that big, deep voice,†said quarterback Zac Lee. “You’re like, ‘This kid’s 18? What’s up with that?’†He sounds older than 18 and is said to act it, too. Maturity missed some of us at that age, but Green apparently stepped in its way. It is a handy trait to accompany a young man entering his first football season in the Husker fish bowl. “He accepts responsibility. That’s what I love about him,†Husker offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said. “If he’s done something wrong, he knows it. He can fix it himself. As soon as it happens, he knows.†As the days of fall camp melt away, the 6-foot-4, 220-pound true freshman from Dayton, Texas, is locked in competition with junior Latravis Washington for the backup spot behind Lee. And while some fans and media may get mileage discussing the possibility of Green redshirting, that is not something coaches are conversing about at all as they evaluate their quarterback situation. “The media’s got to get off this redshirt kick. You do what you got to do to win,†Watson said. “We don’t do that here. That’s not our culture. … We don’t talk about redshirting guys. We don’t. … I’ve been through years where you use three quarterbacks. You better get them all ready.†Inexperience is the word when talking about Nebraska’s quarterbacks. Lee has thrown two completions at NU. Green isn’t far removed from high school dances. Washington was a linebacker until a week before spring ball. Watson has dealt with such inexperience at the quarterback position before. On Tuesday he recalled his 2002 season at Colorado when his starting quarterback Craig Ochs went down with injury. The Buffs turned to a junior-college transfer named Robert Hodge. He ended up throwing for more than 1,600 yards and helping the team to a 9-5 season and the Big 12 North title. With this year’s season opener less than three weeks away, Watson said he is “totally comfortable†with Lee at quarterback. The other guys still have to show they can manage a game. “I’m not going to give them a lot of offense,†Watson said. Certainly there are bumps in the road, but Watson has found Green to be a very teachable sort. “Cody gets football. That’s the No. 1 thing. He gets football,†Watson said. “He’s still learning the situational aspects of football at the college level. There’s far more situations than what you have in high school. That’s been his biggest learning curve, but he gets football.†One thing that doesn’t seem to be an issue for Green is confidence in taking over a huddle, even though he’s the youngest guy in that huddle. “You have to be kind of a prominent figure to be a quarterback, and a lot of younger guys have trouble being that way because they are younger,†Hickman said. “But when he’s in the huddle, you don’t really have that feel that that’s a big thing for him.†Green came to Lincoln highly regarded in recruiting circles, one of those recruits with a lot of stars next to his name. But junior wide receiver Niles Paul said you would never know it. “A lot of people let it get to their head,†Paul said. “I did. And I got humbled when I got to college. We had guys like (Terrence) Nunn and Mo Purify when I got here. But I feel like Cody came in with a good head on his shoulders, with the right attitude, just ready to compete.†The voice of Green hasn’t been heard by the media since he arrived at Nebraska for spring practices. It’s team policy that a player needs to play in a game before doing interviews. But if Green does get his number called this year, Paul said he’ll have his teammates’ respect. “When we’re on the field, age doesn’t matter,†Paul said. “It’s ability. He has the ability.â€
