  1. Ronnie Powell - Dayton Great hands, made some highlight reel catches at the scrimmage against Angleton last night.
  2. I think he rushed for 2 and passed for 2. Gable had 2 rushing TD's. Angleton did have some speed on the field.

  7. [Hidden Content] Longtime District 22-4A followers were shocked last season when the Dayton Broncos made off with the district crown in their first year in the new fraternity. Projected winner, Beaumont Central along with playoff hopefuls Nederland, Port Neches-Groves and Little Cypress-Mauriceville were left with mouths gaped open as Coach Jerry Stewart's Bronco ballclub raced through league play undefeated. While the Broncos are destined to be a strong force again in 2007, the opposition will try to offer stronger resistance. Many suggest that this year's Oct. 26 meeting between the Jaguars and Broncos at Bronco Stadium could be a pivotal contest in determining the final district outcome. In their 2006 get-together, the game was not decided until the final minutes as Dayton held off the late-charging Beaumont entry with a blocked extra point kick that allowed the Broncos to escape as 22-21 victors. If they are to avoid a repeat of last season it will be up to Central coach Donald Stowers to come up with a stronger game plan. He has five returning offensive starters and six defensive regulars on hand from last year's 8-4 playoff team that included a 6-1 slate in district 22-4A. With the loss of QB Brandon Williams, who is wearing a Texas A&M jersey now, the Jaguars will look to the emergence of running back Derrick Hall as one of its key offensive weapons. Hall (5-11, 200) rushed for 550 yards and accounted for 450 yards in pass receptions. The Jaguars can count upon a bevy of offensive stalwarts led by linemen Zaybrian Barnwell (6-1, 265) and Parnell Wells. Hall, Wells and running back Charlie Thomas are returning all-district performers. Defensively the Jags will be led by DE Brian Davis, who recorded 55 tackles and seven QB sacks a year ago. Linebacker David Mayfield is another solid contributor. Nederland (6-6, 4-3) has one of the top defenders back in the fold with DD/TE Dravannti Johnson (6-3, 220). The burly lineman recorded 88 tackles and seven sacks in '06 that gained him widespread attention. The first-team "Super Team" player has already committed to the University of Texas. QB Ryan Sampere will get his first chance as a full-time signal caller after serving as backup for the past two seasons. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears (5-5, 4-3) will depend upon four returning starters on either side of the ball to key its playoff hopes. QB President Driver tossed 45 completions for 809 yards and 10 touchdowns a year ago. He will get help from TB Kendrix Salter (5-11, 180), who rushed for over 700 yards and nine TD's. Port-Neches Groves ( 5-5, 3-4), Vidor (3-7,2-5), Ozen (1-9,1-6) and Lumberton (4-6, 1-6) will give it their best to try an earn a playoff berth, but chances are the aforementioned teams will have the upper hand.
  8. Which "pointer" do you prefer German shorthair or English Setter? ;D
  9. That is exactly what I was thinking, the catches where a highlight reel all to themselves.
  10. With my calling skills it doesn't really matter where I hunt, the birds will be there. ;D
