would've been a good way to pay for that million dollar scoreboard...
scoreboard has already been paid for by private dollars
You're pretty high up in BISD.....what do you think about the new stadium name?
I have no problem with it. He has really provided great leadership. Of course i have a ringside seat and have all the facts.
::) Yeah, I bet you do!  Are you taking some kickbacks from this clown, in return for being one of the few dozen in Beaumont that acutally support this fraud.
Dont pick on WBbear.  He's pretty consistent on being a class act.  I accept his knowledge and opinion about what goes on the inside.  I'll still say, the insiders would have much better support if they listened to the many on the outside.  Thats the issue here----BISD has not shown respect for its constituency, which happens to be its tax-base and voting base.  Future bonds and issues will get very little support under the current board of directors.  The speed of this decision supports the statement that the outside public is their enemy.
I have a very good friend who moved their child from West Brook to Port Neches. That child told me that everything was harder at Port Neches. Education and athletics. Seems Port Neches works their kids a lot harder and prepares them for life a little better than West Brook.
From that evidence, you were able to draw that conclusion?
There's more evidence than that. In UIL Academics, PN-G and West Brook have gone head-to-head a couple of times. Normally, PN-G not only defeats West Brook, but everyone else at the meet as well (we've only attended one local invitational meet where we didn't take the sweepstakes award this year). PN-GHS was also a "Recognized" school this year. WB was "Academically Acceptable." No offense West Brook fans. Just stating the facts.
Brains AND a Football team............who would of thunk it  ;D
Our WALMART is bigger and better.
 3. Ok, i am reading this thread, and I read white flight remarks, horrible school district, becoming more like Pt Arthur, etc.... Yet then, we read our superintendant is doing such a fine job.  Lots of contradictions.  I have to agree mostly, with SgtRey.  I do not buy into white flight and disagree with the concept.  I do not intend to compare with Pt. Arthur and feel that that remark is unfair to that community.  I agree that BISD needs to fix their Public relations issues. As far as WB, I have a wife and daughter that teach there and feel that they sincerely do have an interest in preparing their students.  The daughter was prepared by WB in such a way that she excelled with a masters degree from TCU(suma cum laude with 4.0 in only 4 years).  My son was prepared well enough to graduate on time at ATM and has been excepted into med-school.  I have a third at ATM and is doing quite well.  I truly believe that WB offers a good product and that its students are being sufficiently prepared.  I apologize for bragging, but I am a proud DADDY
 4. Charlton Pollard was closed in the late 70's.  It was part of BISD.  during that same time period, The West end of Beaumont and the South end were in the SPISD.  How can you blame that on the West End.?  South Park, Hebert and Forest Park merged into WB in the eighties.
 5.
Ahhhh what short memories CBT haters seem to have.  I remember BISD being all over Ch. 6 news every Thursday night back in the early 90's with cars lined up all around the building with people voicing their concerns and anger over attendance zones, etc.  Back then the crybabies from the West End was wanting 'neighborhood schools'.  CBT came in and not only had a sound attendance plan(the elementaries were back to K-5 before or right when he got here), but simplified the middle and high school zones and unloaded West Brook by creating Ozen.  Now the whining is over South Park which the majority of the crybabies don't even live there anymore plus how the and the pace of the schools are being built.  Well, I'm in favor of CBT's name being on the stadium complex.  All outsiders should hush and worry about their own and all West End crybabies should either vote their reps on the school board out or move.....
Sir, what is wrong with us that live in the West end.  You use harsh terms such as haters and then call us cry babies.  Your post stereotypes an entire portion of the community of which is actually now quite diverse in its ethnicity.  Is this not a form of blind prejudice.  Would living in harmony and getting along with our neighbors be a threat to you? I refuse to stereotype you and your community.
 6. I believe we agree on this.  Let us not blame Dr. Thomas--he's been successful in his personal career.  I hold the entire board responsible for furthering the healing and progress of our community.  And I mean our community. I believe our community desires to come together, but its leadership continues to screw up with their lust for power.  Shame on this board of trustees and people, we are responsible to let them know this.  Do not be afraid to tell them that you are looking for a better person to do their job.  They had to know that this would not be popular.  But they did it anyway.  We are living in a society where the public concensus is no longer important.  Again, shame on this board of trustees --shame shame and shame.
 7. Where are the for votes---I know they are out there.  Remember you can safely vote from within the closet.  We had a 5 to 1 vote last night in front of a room full of supporters.
 8.
Under most circumstances, I would have to oppose anything being named after someone who is still actively working for the district
Oh so true, but in this case he does  not work for the district---he's a big operator and he has the district working for him.  Do you really think these trustees have  his ear or does he have theirs?
 9. Need to form a committee real fast and get a good name for that building or else  ;D
 10.
I have no dog in this fight, but Thomas stadium has a good ring to it. Hopefully it will draw some playoff games.
I am sure you will always be able to get tickets.  ;)
 11. Still early and i hope that we get lots of votes.  Remember the board voted 5-1 so I am interested to see how that ratio compares to the ratio of those on this board that supports this areas atheletics.
 12. Just wanting to get the community opinions so this is a simple two opinion vote.
 13. Now that he has a place to leave his Legacy it is time for me to leave mine. ATTN SETX Sportsfans [move] "I vow to never ever flush in that ball park. "[/move]
 14.
Feed them Cotton candy to match their Coolaid colored jerseys... ;D
Speaking of new uniforms, Da Brook is going to have pictures of the Beaumont Bowl Trophy put on the back side of their jerseys so the Panthers and Jags will get a chance to see what it looks like as they soft shoe around them.
 15. I cant see where naming the stadium after him would help bring this community together.  Any name that would be a victory for some while a slap in the face of others will not get us all the results we are searching for.  Already we have seen from post on this thread that opposition is associated with hatred which lets be straight forward----haters is a substitute word for prejudice.  I am in opposition to this and I do not hate the man. But it would be a mistake to seperate a community that has been working so hard to come together. Soulja---quick question.  Give me a handful of berries and I will give you a slab of fresh raw meat.  Who's gonna get  to feed the BEAR?  Think about this before you post something embarrasing again.  ;D
 16.

58 pages, 858 posts proves once in for all America was right in joining together and agreeing that OU for sure, without a doubt blows.
:D :D
And your moving back to Texas to protect our border.  Keep our HS players out of OK. for their own good.
 17.
Bradford wasn't a senior
He was a senior car salesman at a local dealership.  Had his own parking spot  ;D Thats probably where the confusion comes from.
 18.
1. Jamaal Charles - PA Memorial - sliced and diced tough 5a competition like a hot knife through butter 2. Leeland McElroy - Central - as talented as they come! 3. Christine Michael - West Brook - an insane mixure of speed, power, and vision that was unlike any other ever seen in this area.
I'll add 4. Dexter Hebert-- Kelly--played same years that Leeland Mcelroy.  He could have played at Central and if so, Central would have had the best backfield in Texas.    Dexter had speed and very strong thighs could cut or run over defenses.
 19. I put this out here because after reading several post in addition to hosting a tournament, I am astonished that any team would invite teams to play on their turf and then show such a lack of class.  I have witnessed many games where fans get upset in the heat of the moment, but geeze, let it go. I will remove this thread if Brenham fans or others can prove that their program is worth a crud.   But as far as I am concerned, throwing a tournament, taking your money, and then being bad sports about losing is low class. And as far as a grandparent saying something negative to a guest team at a public place---- He's an old fart with uncontrollable gas issues.  I'd love the opportunity to tell him to SHUT UP.
 20. Well, somebody has to start this.  BTW --OU has the largest suck thread in SETX [move]Brenham softball coaches, fans and grandparents suck.[/move]

You really trying to hurt my feelings, aren't you?  :D
Make that the first team to win the first two games.  And the first Beaumont Bowl title.  Wow---
 23. Panama---I enjoyed your post naming the years Baytown had some talent that seemed to go astray. But you may or may not remember Sean Diamond who as a freshman and sophmore was absolutely unstoppable.  I always thought that this guy was going to make it big.  Unfortunately, he was his own enemy and stopped himself.   Still a WB fan --- but i used to really enjoy watching the Lee Ganders.  I hope they rekindle themselves in 4A and rebuild that tradition that goes way back.  There is a small segment of the Baytown community that  needs to get back to raising these kids and getting them off the streets and into the schools.
