WO-S, Silsbee will be one for the memory books
WeedBegone replied to KFDM COOP's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
This game will seperate the men from the boys on Rykers picks. So far WOS is the team of choice. the Central Lumberton game will also spread out the winners from the losers. Central has the edge on this one. Gonna be an interesting week-end. -

Who is the best defensive player in SE Texas?
WeedBegone replied to preacher's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Shout out to the WOS Fans for best defensive players of the week. They have been on the defensive all week long and they pretty much have held their own. -
as much as i get tired of band geeks whining about football programs getting preference it is THIS kind of tripe that feeds their rationale. your analogy is bad - are the football players in your hypothetical also on the cheerleading squad? nope. that would be a season-long conflict wouldnt it? or wait, they could cheer between plays right? you may hold volleyball in higher esteem than cheerleading or drill team, but then you probably didnt participate in those activities did you? I have to agree with one thing about your post. That is.....it seems you have received a good education. I am surprised you got away with instructing one of your coaches. Informing or notifying them would be a more preferred method. Anyway you were doing quite well until you chose to write paragraph to too two. You may have underestimated in your charges or accusations that they also might be well educated. Just an observation. Main Entry: in·struct Pronunciation: \in-ˈstrəkt\ Function: transitive verb Etymology: Middle English, from Latin instructus, past participle of instruere, from in- + struere to build more at structure Date: 15th century 1 : to give knowledge to 2 : to provide with authoritative information or advice 3 : to give an order or command to : direct Seeing as how it was my choice and therefore within my power to decide whether I would participate in one, both, or neither of those activities, I fail to see how using instruct to describe the manner in which I informed them of the circumstances was a poor choice of verbiage. As to your critique of the second paragraph: what does me dropping capitalization (which actually occurred in 1) and using numerals instead of spelling out numbers (also started in 1) have to do with homonyms? I certainly didn't erroneously interchange any. Was this your feeble attempt to look like you gots smartzes? "I think the Bulldogs played excellent considering 7 freakin turnovers and losing their QB." It's unassailable and has universal applicability regardless of the topic - bonus!! ;D ;D Hey Jude (beatle pun) ;D My bad, I made the assumption you were well educated, but I can clearly see now that you are walking around with the dictionary and thesaurus in your geeky backpack.(advice dont pick on bank geeks---you'll end up working for one some day) Anyway, now that I know these things, I will try and not bother you any more by exchanging post, but I can not speak for the others in this area. :-\

good point coop, in 21-3a let's name the one sport that matters. wos- football and softball bc-softball, football and baseball of-girls basketball, girls softball hj-girls and boys basketball, girls and boys baseball, football hf-not sure silsbee-If it moves their fans will support it fill in the blank on the school's sport that matter, girls or boys. I put in red what i have witnessed in regards to support.

"Let's be real honest, Girl's athletics don't matter as much as boys sports." To Whom does Girl Athletics not matter to.? Tell us who these people are. It matters greatly to the girls who work hard for the sport they choose to play. It matters greatly to those who teach and train them for their sport. And it matters greatly to those who support and watch them play. So when they sign up to play, they need the same disclipline that is expected of boys regarding committment. What would Hooks do if one of his starters missed a game to sing the National anthem at a vollyball game? As AD he should see that this is treated equally because he gets paid to direct all sports. BTW--the VB coach should be docked or pro-rated for missing the VB game and I hope she buys a ticket to get into Brookshire instead of using a coaching pass. Its the principle of the matter.

The problem is "Girls" sports get no respect. These girls work just as hard as the boys do and I can promise you they are a lot meaner. ;D ;D I agree so much with the latter part of your statement--they work hard and they can get mean. I've had the wonderful opportunity to work with girl atheletes. The respect thing is where we have just witnessed a set-back. Lady Atheletes have made significant progress in recognition under TITLE IX. But when you have a team forfeit an UIL event that does have a won-loss impact on a district race; for the reason of being in attendance to a male UIL event; you have slapped yourself in the face. This issue can be summarized as "choice" defeats "committment". BTW--this thread should not be in any way blamed on the WOS football program, however, the AD should have a little pow wow with the Volleyball team --first thing Monday morning. I do not believe that drill team and cheerleading falls under his job description so he should have no trouble getting to the bottom of this from the view point of atheletics. .

That dadburned drill team better dance come H3LL or High Water!!!

I said it needed to be put in the Volleyball forum about a 100 post ago but Gabe said it belongs on the football forum. It cant go in the volleyball forum because the football game caused the volley ball team to forfeit. Besides this is becoming the hottest thread in football. What sucks is that the football team is not only losing football games this year, they are also spreading the misery to other sports at WOS. Losing can be as contagious as winning. Lets hope for a speedy recovery to the WOS football/volleyball program.
