Last time I checked, this is a messsge board to talk about what/ifs. Coaches jobs are to focus game to game. Me as a fan of high school sports, I can focus on what/ifs. So the team and coaches can worry about Kauffman and I will enjoy looking forward to the better matchup. 🫣🫣

In bold in regards to BC (not to the poster you tagged): That got started before the season had a chance to start itself just from the many threads I've read about said team, I think for some folks that kind of talk lasted longer than expected. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Will be interesting to see how much of the campaign was “all talk” vs. actually following through with putting policies in place. If they go through with half the crazy stuff they’re talking about, most of the country will be in worse off shape than before. For example - assume border is 100% closed tomorrow, how exactly do we benefit from deporting illegals already here? Costs billions to do so, corporate profits will take massive hits, food prices will soar, inflation picks back up as wages increase to backfill jobs, big hit to economy and GDP (illegals buy stuff, too). When playing a inferior opponent I believe it’s normal to look ahead to the next round… at least to have something to talk about… No one wants to discuss how Hamshire Fannett is gonna beat the hell outta La Marque… so.. for conversation sake yeah people will look ahead to the following week lol I can assure you the people that matter ( HF coaches and players ) are focused on this week and they will have fun and kick some asp

I truly wish the best for 409 teams and especially those from OC. Until we meet each other, if that happens. i think the BC hate comes from a weak preseason schedule, then all the hype and talk about BC being the Cinderella team in the District. Only to lose to LCM and HH. As well as all the repetitive talk about refs and Peevey. It gets exhausting after a while. i am probably the biggest ref critic out there, but we have to realize, that’s a tough job and that’s why not many do it. We also need to remember that some of these players (kids) read these forums. They are just kids playing the game they love. The kids didn’t make the choice to avoid Silsbee, WOS, or Jasper….adults did. lets go 409, OC, and GO BEARS!!!!

I said that in another thread. The government was originally planned to make legislation and constitutional changes difficult. For merely enacting a law, it took two different houses, elected by different means. Then it took the president to agree with both houses. If the president disagreed and vetoed the bill, both houses could still override the veto. Then…. if someone gave a challenge, the Supreme Court could rule a law unconstitutional. The Senate has the rule of allowing a senator unlimited time to speak once he takes the floor in debate. Once he stops, his time is over but there is no limit so if he could talk for 30 hours (with short breaks), he can do so. If 40 senators wish to use such a debate tactic, the filibuster, they can tie a bill up for a month or more and potentially kill it. Again, it makes enacting legislation difficult, as it should be. The House with its 435 members could debate for months on a single bill if it had the same debate rules as the Senate. For that reason, they have much more restrictive rules on limiting debates. To end the filibuster the Senate enacted a new rule a little over 100 years ago called cloture. In cloture, if 60 senators agree to it, they can end debate and go to a vote. Cloture will kill a filibuster but it takes a 3/5 60 vote majority to do so. The Dems seem notorious for wanting to change long standing rules if they think it gives them an advantage. It’s basically like cheating but legally. The Democrats could not get several Republican senators to side with them in order to kill the filibuster so the Republicans could effectively stop any presidential nomination, like to the federal courts. That is the rules that they put in place for a reason. When Obama was not nominating moderate judges but more left leaning activist judges to the federal courts, the Republican threw up a roadblock with the filibuster. The Democrats could not gain the 60 votes needed to end debate and force of vote where they would only need 51 votes for confirmation. That left two options. Obama could appoint more moderate judges and get a few Republicans to agree to allow the vote or they could use the nuclear option. In the nuclear option, nicknamed because it’s the most devastating weapon in Senate legislation, there was a loophole to get around cloture. It is basically a legislative trick/loophole in the rules where a senator would ask the majority leader of the Senate (Senate equivalent of Speaker of the House) to suspend the rules on cloture. By rules that is not legal, however….. the loophole allows for a call to clarification the decision and in this clarification process, the rule could be suspended. So there is a back door way around cloture but it kind of makes a mockery of the Senate rules and the intent of making it more of a deliberate body than the House. But….. it’s legal under a loophole. Harry Reid as the Democrat majority leader, had a tantrum with Democrats backing him up. Reid threatened to use the nuclear option unless the Republicans gave them what they demanded. I believe it was Mitch McConnell, who was head of the Republicans as minority leader, who said you really don’t want to do that because you’re not going to be in charge forever. Too bad, the Democrats continued with their temper tantrum and forced the nuclear option. So they got their federal judges appointments. They were fine with that because they expected Hillary Clinton to win the next election and they can continue on for years. Oops!! Shockingly to the Democrats, Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton and lo and behold, three Supreme Court justice seat came open. The Democrats could have blocked the seats with the filibuster, but… they had changed the rule by ending the cloture requirement for federal judges. So while they could have had the votes needed to blocked Trump‘s Supreme Court nominations, they had given up cloture on federal judge nominations. Oops!! With all the talk of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade and the bump stock ban, overturning of Chevron, etc., because of Trump nominations, guess who caused it? That’s right, the Democrats, who did not like the rules applying to them and changed the rules. Because they changed the rules, it came back to bite them in the butt big time. So move forward to January 2022 with a tied Senate of 50/50 with Kamala Harris being the swing vote/tie breaker. The Democrats again wanted to change the rules to completely do away with the filibuster and cloture. It would in effect become another House of Representatives. Fortunately, for Republicans at the time and the Democrats now, Democratic Senator Joe Manchin would not side with his own party because he knew the importance of the rules. The long-standing rules were more important than a brief party victory. As Hippie brought up in the OP, if the Republicans remain in control of the House, Trump would have basically a super majority in both houses. A single vote could pass any legislation that the Republicans wished. Obamacare could end with a single vote in both house, the Republicans can vote on making a 15 member Supreme Court and adding six new conservatives to the court almost immediately (a recent Democratic threat), pass a complete abortion ban, make a law making all firearms laws invalid and so on. Again, fortunately for the Democrats, one of their own senators knew the intent of the Senate as opposed to the House and the meaning of the Senate rules to make things difficult. He decided to go with the intent of the Constitution and took a dramatic stand against his own party. Just like they did when they changed rules to get federal judges confirmed, the Democrats would have changed the rules on the filibuster and again it would’ve come back to bite them in the butt big time but one of their own saved them by voting against them. Yes, I think it would be hilarious if the six vote Republican majority in the Senate brought up ending the filibuster. Then watch all 47 Democrat remaining senators who voted to end the filibuster two years ago… vote unanimously to not change the rules.

I rest my case. How about this? This is my thread about Trump winning. Everyone is tired of hearing you talk about how you screwed the system. Talk about Trump winning or start your own thread about defaulting on loans.

My wife and I are 10 years into a 15-year note on our house. Not only did we save an obscene amount of money by avoiding a 30-year note, we're actually on pace to finish paying it off at least 2 years early. it's not difficult to be responsible, but I respect your son for doing it at a young age. I can't imagine being 45-50 years old or however old BG is and still paying the minimum on a "predatory loan" when you're making more than enough money to pay the loan off in a year or two at most. And then have the nerve to constantly question everyone's intelligence or talk down to them on financial issues.

shouldn't have, if you'd paid it back responsibly. you like to talk about how well you're doing financially... shoulda paid more than the minimum. it's not difficult. my wife got her masters and we paid it off in 2 years.

Another thought to ponder. The Democrats hate to lose (who doesn’t) but they are willing to legally “cheat” the system in order to gain their agenda. Our government was created to make enacting laws and changing the Constitution difficult. Both houses and especially the Senate have rules in place to protect from a congressional dictatorship or monopoly. By the Constitution, each house can make or change its own rules. The Senate rules allow for a filibuster or continued talk by a senator who is not limited in time like the House Representatives are. Over 100 years ago the Senate enacted a rule called Cloture. If 60 senators voted to end a debate or filibuster, they could. So basically it only takes 51 votes as a simply majority in the Senate to pass a bill but it takes 60 to force a vote. So even a minority party might still be able to prevent a bill from passing or at least until they get a compromise. The only way out of Cloture requirement “without” a 60 vote majority required, is the nuclear option. It is a loophole in the Senate rules in order to get around the rules. Obama was having a hard time getting his progressive judge nominations passed by the Senate due to the Republicans not agreeing to enact Cloture. The Republicans were blocking many Obama nominated judges from taking office. That is the system, however. Harry Reid as the Senate Majority Leader threatened to use the nuclear option if Republicans kept using their authority to hold up the vote. Reid was warned by the Republicans to play by the rules and not use the nuclear option which was legal but a direct overriding of the Senate rules. Reid was told that the Democrats would not be in office forever and if they used it to get federal judges passed, so would the Republicans in a future Congress. Reid said to heck with it and used the option. They got some federal judges approved. Fast forward to Trump’s first term. The Republicans took over the Senate but did not have the 60 votes to enact Cloture and get Trump‘s Supreme Court nominees passed. Guess what? Yep, the Republicans used the nuclear option to get Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Barrett put on the Court. The Dems cried, we didn’t want THOSE federal justices confirmed with the nuclear option. We just wanted OUR federal judges to be confirmed that way. Oops! Oh well, you were warned. So to the Dems complaining about the current Court ruling against their wishes….. you can thank the Senate Democrats. So a little over a year ago, the Democrats in the Senate wanted to change the rules and completely eliminate the filibuster. That would mean that in any future Congress, a mere 51 vote, simple majority could enact any law in the Senate. Only Democratic Senator Joe Manchin voted no and did not support the other Democrats. He believed that the rules were in place for a reason and it should apply to everyone. He knew that the Democrats would not always be in charge and they would pay the price later like they already have. So by one vote the filibuster was maintained as a Senate rule. Most recently, Kamala Harris suggested using the nuclear option for abortions on demand. Okkkayyyyyy……. So now, since the end of the filibuster was defeated by Manchin, Harris believes that any law is not subject to the filibuster simply by using the nuclear option on everything. If you don’t like the way of vote would go and you don’t want to compromise with the other party, simply vote on it with the nuclear option!! Of course Harris thought that she would win so if there was a tie in the Senate, Walz would be the tiebreaker just asc shecwas. Oops! So now the Republicans have Senate. It appears that they may take the House. If they control both houses, they could have now pass any bill into law with single vote in both houses and Trump would likely sign it, had Harris and the Democrats gotten they way.. Luckily for the Democrats, Joe Machin prevented that future disaster. Remember that there was talk of stacking the Supreme Court by the Democrats adding more members like maybe a 15 justice Court. The Democrats don’t like to play by the rules, but as always happens, the ball eventually goes to the other side of the court. Oops, now the ball is in Trump’s side of the court. If the Democrats had gotten their way, Trump could start enacting any law that he wished with almost no repercussions. I wonder how the Democrats would have liked that?

If there is evidence it was tied to the Biden campaign to prevent Trump from running for President, I FULLY support a prosecution....and you should too....next time it could be your guy. And while it sounds like a conspiracy theory.......Biden straight up lied to the American people when he said he didn't talk to Hunter about his business deals and I truly believe Biden was "the big guy".

So has lcm finally proven they have what it takes to win? They played an amazing Huffman team and also a great bridge city team. Everyone can talk about the punt situation during the bridge city game but BC scored to take the lead after and put the pressure on lcm late in the game and they then made a 85 yard drive down the field to score the game winning touchdown, then bridge city had 2-3 minutes left in the game to go score but folded under pressure. Same thing happened in the Huffman game. Huffman was up late in the game and all the pressure was on lcm, they then put together another long drive to score the game winning touchdown. Keep in mind Huffman still had 2-3 minutes after to score but also folded under pressure.

I love how you guys don't mention COVID and the hardships it brought on everyone. I was lucky to be paid to sit at home for a few weeks. I'm employed with a bank, so we went back appt only for a while until we fully opened. The best line of poo poo is when ya'll talk about the jobs Biden created....SMH
