I think Coach Sodek explained Mumford's differences quite well. ;)
yep, both get players from outside their geographic areas. One has a larger area.......wow!
Gee, Dove- It would appear you did not read Mr. Sodeks post or you think he not telling the truth.  From what I saw, one of the first nine players came to the school during his Varsity years.  Looks like everyone else is pretty much homegrown.  Are you going to "suggest" that this same type of situation exists at Yates, Madison, and Triple A?
AAA players started out home grown.  They were there as well BEFORE high school  ::)
Yea, right.  They were all in the same neighborhood.
Hey Dove which neighborhood? Same neighborhood as the school or same neighborhood umpteen miles away from the school?
Mumford kids weren't around the corner either ;) I have no problem with Mumford, but they lost within the rules.

Bluedove, how do you know so much about AAA, mclure, and the director from notre dame? Would it happen to be from experiences you had with them at AAU?

Corruption in HS basketball is due to AAU and parents who want to shop their children around. I remember a certain guard from the Houston area that later played at Arizona...how many high schools did he attend before settling down?
How do I know them? Various avenues other than the AAU circuit  ;) Do you really want to debate HS vs AAU with me? Do you really want to compare the behind scenes in HS and AAU with me? You may not want to do that, trust me!!
WOW, right out of DickieV's tactics manual - right down to the plea, "trust me." ::)
It should be. The same man that taught me, taught Dickie too!!
It's a shame that neither you nor DickieV picked up the pure "Class" that your mentor had. :(
Question!! Yes Prep which has about 6 charter school campuses in Houston were put into the 2-A class with Anahuac. Why do we not hear any complaining about those charter schools. They are in Houston surrounded by a large population.

There are lots of complaining about those charter schools. Just ask the EC, Anahuac, and Hardin folks about having to be in the same district with "those" schools. It's a complete joke.

So all of the D-1 prospects that are there are strictly there because they were undereducated inner city kids who were unable to learn in the public schools?
D1?  Can't believe what the conservative media writes  8)
Please!!! ::) ::  Look at this site http://future150.com/hs/basketball-rankings/wl/2015/  Over half their roster is on the future 150 list..Most are 4 and 5 star players.

The system is broke and the uil needs to fix it.
is that the right site? i only saw a few from Texas but they were from other schools.
LOL!! Please do not go by Future 150. Its a ranking site where they rank kids who attend their camps by PAYING and playing. Next example please!!!
the poor inner city kids who couldn't learn in public schools have money for basketball camp?

I went to college with Coach King, worked with he and Coach Sodek at camps and all-star games and I can tell you that  these two men a very fine individuals, not just coaches. I have been off the site for a few days, but this dialogue about Triple A is abslolutely disgusting.  This is a UIL problem, and for those of you not watching, it is going to get worse as the push to have more charter school is on the rise.

One of the fallacies with technology is that people get to rant and throw people under the bus without knowing them; this post is a great injustice to the men who lead Mumford's athletic program.

Dove_ I think I finally understand this now.  Triple A, Yates and Madison are actually progams whose first priority is to keep kids from getting fat and drawing disability checks.  The competence in basketball was coincidentally a by- product.

That had NOTHING to do with what the discussion was about... ::)...Besdies< I was in AGREEMENT with what was said about Triple A Academy aside from the fact that the classless act of booing those kids occured...I AGREE that they had no business in Class A UIL...But once again.. ::) ::)

Ouch!!
FIRST of all, how in the HECK did I get put in this negative connotation and SECOND do you have any CLUE who the mentor that you speak of is? Just want clarity before before I dig in your hindside.... >:(
I think self proclaimed "basketball royalty" may have something to do with the connotation.
That had NOTHING to do with what the discussion was about... ::)...Besdies< I was in AGREEMENT with what was said about Triple A Academy aside from the fact that the classless act of booing those kids occured...I AGREE that they had no business in Class A UIL...But once again.. ::) ::)
They also have NO BUSINESS acquiring their roster as they do and competing in UIL at any level.

Appreciate your post Coach Sodek, but what did your statement "we're still the public school champions" mean ?    And what is your opinion of AAA being boo'd ?
Not sure if the coach will read and respond.  However, I would like to.  My guess is that he is claiming that they wwere the public school champion if one were not to count charter schools as public schools ( perhaps suggesting that the two are put together in a different manner)  I would also suggest that the booing was not at the players but rather at those responsible for the manner in which that "oganization" was assembled.  I suspect that he believes, as I do, that, the spirit/intent of some rules were violated.

Shooter...THANKS

Nash and Garrity...you are correct in your assessment concerning what I said.

Concerning the Booing...Our players and coaches did not Boo--we clapped.  Its not those kids fault.  They were very good.  I wish no one had booed them.  We certainly did not ask anyone to boo.  That was one heck of a basketball team...we all can agree on that,

Yes sir BlueDove3.  We would probably have less than 100 kids in our whole school (PK3-12) if not for transfers from surrounding communities.    That is the truth.  It has pretty much always been that way but it has increased some since the addition of the high school in the early 2000's.

A couple of schools in the area had some issues with the state mandated tests and we happened to rate recognized to exemplary and lets just say we had to turn kids away in certain years (class sizes would have been too large).....our school was sued over PL 5281 by another school district and then it (5281)was overturned.  Most of the kids come from one particular area but we do have transfers from different areas as well.  Does this make sense?

I'm not sure if you are familiar with our community, but it is basically a farming area.  There are no stores, very few houses, and the only blinking lights are the school sign lights.  There is not even a population sign. Just a sign that says "Mumford". We have a beautiful school (primary, elementary, middle school, and high school), all of which are located on the same campus.  An old historical brick building is located across the road.  It was a general store back when Mumford was booming due to cotton gins, and now the building serves as the post office which is open a couple of hours a day.  Our district boundary lines cover a very small area.

It is a great place to work though.  The kids work hard and the discipline is phenomenal.  Since most of the kids are transfers, they really behave because that transfer can be revoked.

If I ever get rich, I will open a convenience store because one could make a killing selling snacks after the school hours are over.
