BLUEDOVE3 Posted March 27, 2013 Report Posted March 27, 2013 How many coaches teach players how to be leaders? Don't tell them they should be a leader. Show them how to be a leader.

team first Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 There are a number of places to improve. But I will tell you the most helpful! A solid high school program. Number one, they can actually practice everyday with and against good competition. Number two, there are certified basketball coaches who are there with a purpose. Improving individual talent along with getting kids to buy into a team concept. But of course the most important, helping kids realize the importance of the classroom and having the kind of character needed to be successful in today's world! Some and maybe most of the AAU coaches have only one idea....WINNING ! What they don't realize is if that's all it's about, they are on the road to a long summer. It's not about the coach,at any level.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted March 29, 2013 Report Posted March 29, 2013 High school is good because it keeps the kids in the gym on a regular basis and keeps them active. Personally. I don't see the commitment from a lot of kids to get better. High school and the same for AAU does not afford the time for individual development, never has in my opinion. Today, kids are more interested in going to the next level. The biggest difference today is that many players get their recognition and college scholarships away from the high school environment. I'm just not sure if the high schools will ever be given the power. Does not look like it.

BLUEDOVE3 Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Would be better if they had a shoe contract. The owner's son is with a team that is....
BLUEDOVE3 Posted March 30, 2013 Report Posted March 30, 2013 Watching Division11 West Liberty vs Metro State in Final 8. This game is fast paced- an organized track meet similar to the top teams who play on the Nike & Adidas summer circuit. Great opportunity to watch D11 and see the how good these kids are. Another outlet for the high school kids to try and get schollies.

understand Posted March 31, 2013 Author Report Posted March 31, 2013 DV whats the name of your team, and do you have any Beaumont kids on your team
BLUEDOVE3 Posted March 31, 2013 Report Posted March 31, 2013 I think this is one of DV's greatest values. He has the contacts and know the Greater Houston area. I doubt if any Bmt. kids are at Mid Western.

BLUEDOVE3 Posted April 3, 2013 Report Posted April 3, 2013 I'd like to throw in another question. Sort of a different question if yall don't mind. Its the off seasonDo you think (the majority of) players get scholarships playing high school ball these days?

SENIORS that are unsigned will likely get looks based on the HS season and body of work, along with how they perform possibly on a visit. Underclassmen will likely get looks from the summer circuit, and have that look verified during the next HS season. THATS how it works. ;)

However, there are some that are seen in summer ball, and confirmed during the HS season, yes.

It just depends on when we are in recruiting mode. If its in the off season, its when we will find them, if its during the season it will be at the HS. It just depends.
