I don't believe they are extinct.  Many of them just moved their kids to other schools instead of trying to fight hard and win where they were. We had a few different words to describe people like that back in the day.  You know, ones that would run from a fight.  But times have changed.  Now, a lot of parents just figure out which schools have the best chance of winning and they move their kids there.  I wonder what these kids are going to do later on when they meet up with the many struggles that life throws at you.  Isn't that what we as parents are supposed to be preparing our kids for?  I'd like to think my kids will know how to handle adversity and how to keep working hard and fighting even when the odds are against you.  That will serve them better than a few more W's in the record books.

I said it last year and I'll say it again, I have a ton of respect for those kids who struggled through last season and even more respect for the ones who have stuck around in Lumberton for this season.  That takes a lot of heart and a 'big pair' if you know what I mean.  That's the kind of individuals I want with me in a dark alley. I don't want the ones who when you turn and look, you see that they have hauled a$$.

Good luck to Lumberton this year.  Work hard, fight even harder and say lot's of prayers.  Maybe some good things will happen for you.  And also, like I said last year, you will continue to find out who your 'real' friends are and who you can trust.  These are the ones that would lay down their life for you.  Best thing in the world is knowing who those folks are.

Very well said big country....my son is still there and not school shopping either..i have more respect for him battling through last  season, never quitting and giving everything he and his team mates had.  It does take a lot of guts to stay and fight, than to bail out when things get rough...The kids at Lumberton are not quitters, and things will rebound. So let everybody bash Lumberton as they normally do, we will keep fighting to get better and never ever quit.

Just razzing you RaiderGirl  ;D -  I have mad respect for you and your support for your team.  You are a true Raider fan.  It was just a few years ago that I, myself was supporting your Raiders on their playoff run.  Let's hope the Raiders return soon.

That's one of the many reasons why I'm proud to say I graduated in 2010 from Lumberton is because no matter what Lumberton people nevere give up. I already see the boys on twitter talking about this season how they are ready to play again even after last season. It is GREAT to be a Raider!

Thanks Rich, we may be opponents during the season, but when the playoffs come around...20-4a teams always still seem to root for our teams.  We have a district that is one of the toughest in texas, and all of us in 20-4a should be proud of all our kids.

I see the track meet is in Mont Belvieu this year.

P.S., can you possibly have an easier pre-district schedule other than air?

We're going to find out real quick the bi-district pecking order. We open with Ned in The Den and after we travel to Willis for our layup we go to BH, get Dayton at home and bookend it with SC in Turner. Call me crazy but I think we beat Ned at home in the opener, hammer Willis and BH and squeak by Dayton in Crosby. If we have any sort of defense we could be 4-0 playing SC for the district title week 5. We also get Kingwood Park at home this year. I'm predicting 9-1.

    • That should tell everyone something pretty clearly. Does anyone really think BH is recruiting elementary kids, to get them to transfer in Jr. high? Seriously? Here is the "dirty little secret" about BH: Most people move to the district for a quality living environment to raise their young family, and benefit from the outstanding acedemics at BH. Even If all athlectics suddenly disappeared from BH, people would still want their kids in the district. If thats not enough to convince anyone, and BH really was determined to recruit, first step would be to have open enrollemnt. It is closed.        Yes, I get it, no one ever wants to give BH the benefit of the doubt on anything. Some of the accusations are beyond ridiculous though. This paranoia the BH critics are afflicted with is not just sad, its flat out laughable.
    • Opting is always an option. Are they considering any BC assistants? Highly qualified after that season they put up.
    • Be that as it may, only time will tell. Hide and watch. Don’t be surprised if the next HC hire uses his own recipe. That happens more than not historically. I am not arguing the point that Hooks & CT had a winning combination that could’ve been carried over. I’m saying that finding someone to do that is not going to be as easy as one might think. Tell me again why Saban’s replacement, who even has Saban’s assistance if he wants it, just lost another game to an unranked team and has taken the Tide out of playoff contention? Why wouldn’t he just follow the success of possibly the greatest college football coach ever lived?
    • We've acknowledged having 2 HOF coaches hasn't been like most other schools. So why everyone jumps to the conclusion it wouldn't work here is beyond my comprehension. I see it carry over with these other hires. Gilmer, Aledo, North Shore, Austin Westlake. Next man up that continues the system in place has instant success. Matter fact there was 2 rookie HC that won the state championship the same year we handed over the keys. Same book. Same recipe. Better ingredients.
