Coach Durley was one of the most respected coaches ever to come out of our area. I played against some of his teams and they were very desciplend and respectful. I think to alot of his players he was way more than a coach.

[/quote]Yes he really was very concerned about players well being and so was clifton ozen and willie ray smith.

I agree with you! Coach Alex Durley was a great coach! I compare him to Coach Herman Boone from Remember the Titans! The school board back in 1971 did what they had to do when they integrated both the all-white and all-African-American probably because of a desegregation order/lawsuit and that was hire a minority coach!
