From PANews

LUFKIN -- Cody Mire hit a solo home run and Cole Johnson was 2 for 3 with a double, but these Port Neches-Groves hitters took second fiddle to Tyler Lee's hitters Thursday.

The Red Raiders downed the Indians 8-2 in a first-round game of the Lufkin baseball tournament, feasting on PN-G pitcher Zack Harwood and a trio of Indian errors.

Brandon Kersh hit a three-run homer for Tyler Lee, which got a complete game pitching effort by Matt Stewart.

PN-G, 2-8 on the season, played Thursday's game at Hudson High, which is hosting the tournament along with Lufkin High.

Today the Indians play again at Hudson High, at 1 p.m. against Henderson and again at 6 p.m. against Hudson. Saturday, they play Houston Westside at Lufkin's Morris Frank Park at 11 a.m.
