mytwocents-28
I watched the 2nd thru the 4th inning. IMO the ump wasn't that bad. He had a few low and outside strikes but honestly I've seen a lot worse. Lumberton just wasn't hitting tonight. Kept popping it up.

Search
The Ump was not good. Never seen a high school team have to crowd the plate to protect against balls off the plate being called strikes. The pop ups were off the pitchers very good curve ball, but he was getting his fast ball called to far off the plate. He pitched perfectly, but there is no need to give him that much of a strike zone.Hopefully the game two ump will not be a little league ump also. BHFAN
From the Beaumont EnterpriseLumberton's 10-year wait to return to the baseball playoffs resulted in a forgettable 10-0 loss against District 19-4A runner-up Kingwood Park at Vidor High School on Thursday night. The opening of their best-of-three Class 4A bidistrict playoff series against the Panthers (23-7) couldn't have gone much worse for the Raiders, so at least the 10-run rule invoked after five innings abbreviated the punishment for Lumberton."I think a lot of these guys had never been in this position before," said Lumberton coach Mike Stewart. "We had some jitters, and I kind of expected that. (The Panthers) are a good team and hit the ball well, but we helped them out with some walks and other mistakes."Kingwood Park pitcher Conner Baumgardner not only shutout Lumberton (18-12), the third place team in District 20-4A, but earned a five-inning perfect game in the process.Baumgardner benefitted from a generous strike zone, mowing down the first six Raiders batters on strikes, en route to notching eight strikeouts in the game.He never allowed a ball to reach an outfielder until Lumberton's final batter, Chris Campbell, lined out to the left fielder. Panthers players then swarmed Baumgardner between the pitcher's mound and first base to celebrate his stellar performance.Baumgardner needed only 64 pitches to complete his gem, throwing 46 of them for strikes.Read more: http://www.beaumontenterprise.com/sports/hs/article/Lumberton-loses-10-0-in-first-playoff-game-in-10-4484738.php#ixzz2SEqH95gB
