Report: UT pitcher helped teammate cheat on drug test

Monday, May 6, 2013

AUSTIN – Texas pitcher Corey Knebel’s three-game suspension last week was the result of him providing a urine sample to help a teammate pass a drug test, according to a report in the Austin American-Statesman.

Knebel, a junior closer from Georgetown who’s five saves shy of the Longhorns’ career record, sat out UT’s three games against Kansas State last weekend because of what the school called a violation of team rules. A source told the American-Statesman that Knebel gave his urine sample to a teammate who had taken Adderall, an amphetamine banned by the NCAA.

On Sunday, UT announced sophomore pitcher Cameron Cox, who pitched in only nine games this season, had been suspended for a violation of team rules.

I also saw on Twitter that Bellaire grad Toller Boardman has left the program. He was injured last season and received a medical red-shirt. Not sure why he left.

It could be worse. UT could be OU. I still say a silent prayer every day thanking the good man above I am not a stupid Sooner fan. Problems go away but being a Sooner for life and that just sucks.
