I dont think they have gotten started yet on any of that stuff. I know they are lifting and[b] the agility training is harder than they have ever done.[/b] Its really exciting to see the motivation our new coach has instilled in these boys in such a short time. They want to work and get better. I can see a difference in my freshman already. Arms are getting bigger and motivated to work. I'm assuming he is going to wait and get some pads on to see who wants it before he solidifies any positions... I would think thats why he is waiting to teach any schemes...

Tell your young un to hold on... it only gets harder in the off season... trust me they aint seen nothing yet... if DuBoius keeps the off season boot camp that was instilled here in Vidor... yalls boys will definitely know what it means to prepare the body for battle.... Keep the Ibuprofen, IcyHot and laughs close by... the ibuprofin and icyhot for the sore muscles and the laughs for seeing your child stiff, sore and can barely move to eat.... but can't wait to go back and do it again.... When they are doing the backwards bear crawls up the stands while another group is making a lap on the track  and the bear crawlers cant stop until the group on the track makes a full lap you will see them all come together knowing that the faster they make the lap the less time their pals have to bear crawl... oh and once you make it to the top on the bear crawl you have to sprint to the bottom and start over.... this is a great team builder because everyone works hard to get the others off the stands.... you will see a different team... a different attitude and a much closer group.... I wish yall the best!

He's teaching schemes. Just not complicated schemes. The slot t offense is so different than other offenses that even the basics are different from others. Blocking schemes, tackling, among other things that he is teaching. I can promise you that.

My thing has never been about winning... Its about being competitive..... Its about being proud to put that uniform on every friday. Its the things you learn about being a team player. If your doing the right things, the wins will come. I honestly believe that when this team hits the field in August, you all will see why I have been so outspoken about the lack of a program. Am I saying HJ will go undefeated? No, I'm saying we will be a hell of alot more competitive. I've said all along HJ needs to run a mis-direction or power type offense. We needed to run some blitzes on defense. We needed an off season weight program.... We needed a coach that demands respect from his players and does not care what a parent says. If this doesnt work, then I have been wrong all along. You guys are making it look like I was in the AD's office every day.... I went there 2 times in the 8 years David was here.... There were other parents that spent lots of time with him... If Im wrong I'll eat my crow, appologize to Coach Martel, and never post here again... Thats a promise....
