Hmmmm?  Am curious to see if Ned can muster any offense this year.  If their offense improves they could be scary.  I assume Ned is well coached too. My biggest knocks on Ned is they don't seem to be good defending the pass and they don't score a lot of points.  If they face an offense w/ the ability to throw and score quickly, sounds like certain death for Ned.  They're not gonna win a shoot out (if their team this year is similar to last year).
So..  averaging 30 points per game in 2012 no longer qualifies you as "scoring a lot of points"?    ???
They did score well during the the first 3/4 of the season.  I stand corrected.  They slowed down significantly during the last four games.  Did a key player get hurt?
their last 4 season games saw a combined 165 pts scored and only 26 allowed.
I'm talking into the playoffs.  I got 66 points for Ned.  Opponents = 74.  Also, they only scored 21 on DAYTON.  They had to be resting starters.
in your original statement you said first 3/4 season games so I assumed you were talking about the season.

everyone knows the season stats don't mean jack in the playoffs. you are facing teams that you aren't used to and therefore game plans change. when plans change so do stats. sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. example:SC aired it out successfully all the way through round one. according to you, running more against G-town may have been the better game plan. so, one could say SC's offense fell off that game because the offense never was adjusted to play in the game they were in. what worked last week may not work this week. and sometimes, there is nothing you can do. the other team is just simply better in all aspects of the game. but any way you paint it, a win is a win and a loss is a loss.
Also another game i attended. NED only needed to score 21, they played field-position the whole game and as soon as Dayton made a mistake they capitalized on it. It was a classic Nederland playoff win, run clock and play field position and as soon the opponent panics and makes a mistake capitalize on it.

Our offense was not meant to put 50 on the board each week. It was meant to drain the clock, keep the defense off the field, and wear out the opposing defense. You don't need to average 50 a game to be a good offense. Our "bad" offense went to the 4th round while SC "amazing" offense only went two.
I understand ball control ...it works until you run into a team that can score quick.  You end up being too slow to respond.  Your long scoring drives end up being a negative for your team.  I think this was proven in the SC vs. Vidor game and SC vs BH.

I hear ya ...and you bring me to one of my knocks on Coach Ford.  I love the guy, but he's gotta prove he can coach the team to a win by adjusting quickly and not just trying to throw his way out of trouble.  He had a stud power runner in Aldridge.  He needed more touches.  Also, our offense was pretty predictable.  It basically came down WR's out running DB's to a spot or down the sideline.  Can't make a living on that in the post season as we found out.  Some of the best games I've seen from SC were when they stayed balanced.  We've yet to have a dominant defense ...but will be exciting when that day comes (it better be this year and next year!)

it all depends. if I can run and control the clock (without turnovers and having scoring drives)and stop your quick score offense twice(for good measure)then I am going to win. the fact that you may have scored on 1 or 2 plays on a couple other drives does not matter. I have the lead and own the clock. you (as you say your coaches were in the g-town game) are in panic mode and will make mistakes which funnel down to the players. example: Vidor-v-Crosby 2011.

I hear ya, but why take your time...really? Ned should have been able to run up and down the field on those guys.  I can see playing a more conservative game against a Pearland ...but when you have every advantage, just blow them out.

Will agree ...but the lynch pin is stopping some of those quick drives.  A high powered offense seemed to beat the ball control guys last year.  When those quick score guys get a good lead, it forces the ball control team to play out of their comfort zone.  In the SC vs. Vidor game ...it got to a point where Vidor HAD to pass.  They tried to use surprise on side kicks to give them momentum.  Some effective passing would have done the same.  SC's defense was so perplexed by Vidor's run game, some successful passing would have been really devastating.  Our DB's cheated up all game.

Blowing teams out is not in NED's pedigree but if you allow them to then they will take advantage of your mistakes thus blowing you out potentially (i've seen it before) .

Guess it's best to play your own style.  Luckily this isn't college and the BCS.  Although Ned got the win, it made them look weak IMO.

I know you and others get on the SC for being over-rated/hyped, but last year's Dayton team took the cake.

Vidor game and SC vs BH.
it all depends. if I can run and control the clock (without turnovers and having scoring drives)and stop your quick score offense twice(for good measure)then I am going to win. the fact that you may have scored on 1 or 2 plays on a couple other drives does not matter. I have the lead and own the clock. you (as you say your coaches were in the g-town game) are in panic mode and will make mistakes which funnel down to the players. example: Vidor-v-Crosby 2011.
Our DB's cheated up all game.
your right as far as our game went. we turned it over so much with SC capitalizing on it that we had to play out of our norm. my point was the same could happen in the other direction as well. as far as our passing, SC played up because they knew the run was what we were bringing and we very seldom threw. in fact, most of the time we did pass, it was because we had to and everyone knew it. that never bodes well. and lets face it, the only thing that stopped our running game was us. SC had no answer for it just like we had no answer for the long ball.

you think that Chatman and jefferies would make a thunder and lightning combination for Summer Creek backfield.I do not think that Jefferies is a natural receiver ,he is a running back. They should put Braden in the slot and move Jefferies to running back because they are going to need all the points they can get because i don't know if their defense can hold up

And you would be right.  D Chatman at TE was a good thing too, but he's needed more at RB.

Coach Ford has shown he'll make quick moves based on Spring Ball and early practices.  I've seen kids at all sorts of positions during the early going before they land at their real position.  They gotta show Braden some respect for being a starter at RB last year, but keeping Jeffrey's out of the back field seems pretty foolish.  Had Braden racked up yards last year, he would have the spot locked.  He was 3rd in rushing yards, behind the 2nd string RB.

they should move Chatman to linebacker to help the defense out but they will probably leave him at rb but he has good size 6'1 215lbs and good speed 4.49 40.Chatman should be recruited  heavily next year at linebacker or running back
Agree with the move to LB, but I'd have him playing both ways.  Over the past few years of Varsity play at SC, I've yet to see a player go both ways.  I certainly could be missing one, but none stand out.

SC has so many recruits, its tough to allow one guy to get on the field on both sides of the ball  8)

Chatman has great size and speed, but its not everything in high school.  We've seen plenty of smaller guys light up the league at this level.  Heart counts for a lot.  SC had a couple 300lb softies on the line that played on the Freshman/JV squad last year.

when Chatman gets to college what kind of programs do you think he could excel at being a running back or linebacker
I've only seen Chatman at TE. We'll have a better idea about RB as this season progresses.  I'd be amazed if he got any time at LB.

As for programs ...IMO it comes down to what the existing roster looks like at the schools that are interested.  For instance, UT may want Chatman as a RB, but if they have existing solid depth at RB, he might consider a similar school that has a quicker opportunity for him to play.  Also, we've seen guys go to smaller schools and get rolling then move to bigger schools in the Junior year.

where do you think Sharp and Allen will end up as far as college.I think Kansas State for both of them
Allen might go to K State, but Sharp is up the air IMO.  If he has an off the chart season, he may draw even bigger schools ...who knows.  Just need him and Allen to focus on an undefeated district championship and winning STATE.  I have a bottle of champagne I plan on drinking in the face of some SC haters on this forum.
Dakota should play at TCU or OU, Sharp should go to Baylor, K-St, or I've been reading he's leaning Miss St as of late but it could just be from camp. I don't know even if Aaron has a big season if he'll get any bigger offers, most of the top programs already have their guy.

Agree with your picks ...but offers and commits can be soft these days.  Everybody wants to win and loyalty doesn't trump winning.  Both guys have an entire season to shine ...it may increase or decrease their stock.  I see late commits from both players.  This verbal offer/verbal commit thing is really interesting.  I believe the NCAA pushed back National Signing Day to February and it started all this verbal offer business.

If SC has the season they should, both Sharp and Allen can sing "Back Then They Didn't Want Me, Now I'm Hot They All On Me!"
If SC doesn't use Jefferies in the backfield I think they will be making a mistake.I watched 4 C.E.King games last year and the more you give him the ball the better he gets.Put him in the slot is a waste.Put him in the backfield and put him in motion if you want to throw his way. What LB in 19-4A is going to be able to stay with him.
I don't think it's going to get bigger than OU for Dakota, he's somewhat limited by his height. The SEC could come calling late with decommitments but he needs to get a spot in a recruiting class in case he gets injured during the offseason or next year. Dakota could still impress recruiters with his versatility and production next year, it doesn't get much better than what Sharp did last year. You have to remember guys like Hubanek and KD Baker threw for well over 4000 yards and weren't very highly recruited after playing in state title games so unless there's a decommit somewhere I don't think Sharp can be anymore impressive than a nearly 6 to 1 td to pick ratio over his career. It's just a rough year to be a qb with all the talent around the country. What I would be worried about is why Baylor told Sharp they wanted him as a receiver but offered a qb scholarship to a kid that was a backup last year and hasn't started a varsity game. LSU feels the same way though which tells me there's either a consensus on his arm strength or mechanics by the big schools.
