I see Vidor winning 7 games this year...Sante Fe, Bridge City, Livingston, LC-M, PN-G, Ozen and Lumberton.  They have lost a lot when it comes to personnel but Coach Matthews will keep the Pirate ship afloat and headed in the right direction.  I think they have one of the softer non-district schedules but will stumble against Cleer Creek.  With the 5 district wins they would qualify for the 3rd playoff spot...

Unless Vidor has petitioned UIL for another year of eligibility for Montana, there's no way the Pirates are winning seven games. You will battle for a playoff spot but, you won't be close to the team you have been the last couple seasons.

Keep thinking that kid.  8)

This is the beginning year of another ten span of playoff drought for Vidor. Vidor puts together a team that is good enough for the playoffs every decade or so, flies high for a year or two, then sinks back into nothingness.

That nothingness begins this year.

Vidor's playoff history

1964, 1978, 2000, 2009, 2011

Almost every decade, like clockwork.
[/quote]

The truth speaks for itself. Vidor's every decade playoff history is the only thing consistent about Vidor.

no I can see it ... you posted it yourself..... 2009, 2011, 2012 <---- that is 3 out of 4 years.... hell Ray Charles could see that.... the wishful thinking is that it will continue... but not the part of it looking like a more consistent pattern.....

Wow, I didn't think my statement would get you'll going like it did this morning.  I know the games still have to be played but I feel like there are 2 guarantees about 20-4A this year.

1. Nederland will make the playoffs
2. Lumberton will not make the playoffs.

I say that to say I personally feel the other 6 teams, pending injuries, lucky breaks and the graduation of some players, all have a legitimate chance of making or missing the playoffs.
As long as Coach Matthews is the Captain of the Pirate ship, I don't see Vidor being consistently at the bottom of this district, we have Lumberton for that...

2009, 2011, 2012 was just part of the consistent every decade pattern. As for the playoff run of the last four years continuing......That isn't going to happen. The decade drought pattern will start again this year.

Can't understand why so many people are out to dish Vidor or diminish their recent accomplishments.  Great to see a program coming around under someone like Jeff Mathews.  This program has waited many years to field teams year after year consistantly that can compete and contend for a playoff spot.  Hats off to them.
