I had the opportunity to watch the Silsbee Little Dribblers Senior team (7th and 8th graders, I believe) play at the National Tourney in Canton over the weekend.  I cant recall seeing a group that was so dominant over everyone they played against.  If those kids  stay together and continue to progress, I believe it will be hard for anyone to beat them by the time they are playing varsity.  I also cannot imagine anyone from any school in the Golden Triangle( same age level, of course) being able to compete effectively against them.

That middle school group is very good. But I hear the 6th grade group is better. ;)

Then there ought to be a state title somewhere in there ( assuming, of course, that those with "special player acquisition programs" have a more difficult time with their acquisitions)

Let's hope so. I know Coach Sigler said he was sticking around to coach that 6th grade group.

But you make a great point about those schools with "special player acquisition programs" .  ;)

I heard Yates has been watching this group.
I'll bet they have.  I wonder if any of the Silsbee players will get "invited" to play for a Houston AAU team?

Silsbee's National Teams are coached by a fellow classemated of mine and he has been braging to me about the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams for a few months. I hear they have 5-6 sure fire studs in that group. I wish them nothing but the best and lets bring home 2-3 rings.

Yep, Jack Yates.  However, when the aforementioned Silsbee kids are in high school, Jack Yates will be back in 4-a and someone else will be concerned about their acquisition program (even though I would take the Silsbee 7th and 8th graders over whatever Yates has in the same grade right now

I have been told that even if Yates enrollment in next realignment keeps them in Class 3A (which will be renamed 4A), Yates will opt up a classification.

Regardless, I like Silsbee's chances with any team come the years of '16-'19. ;)

Enrollment is dwindling?  Has the "communications program" lost its edge?  The dwindling enrollment didnt seem to stop those 40 new athletic transfers last fall.
Nash, I've already said students from Yates have been attending Lamar long before they gained national basketball power. Lamar has a business administration magnet program. You know a lot  of athletes like the limelight associated with broadcasting................

My guess is that the Silsbee 7th and 8th graders can beat the comparable group in the Yates vicinity. ( of course, I fully understand that while the Silsbee group will be the group representing Silsbee when they get to high school, the composition of the Yates group is likely to change substantially )

Do you mean there is no place for ethics in high school basketball competition?  Keep in mind I am not talking about our government ( which seems to sorely lacking in ethics) but 16-18 year old kids.
