Who has the best fans....

By far...HJ has the loudest and best fan support.  And, most of the noise seems to come from their student section.  I will also say that our fans would never be allowed by the principal to holler some of the things that they chant.  Not bad, just not very sportsmanlike.  But, as I said...they are LOUD!!!!!!

The Hawk Hecklers are not malicious.  I think they are funny as heck.  I've never heard them chant some of the stuff you'd hear at college games.  They are loud, proud, and help make the Hawks' Nest the funnest-- if not biggest or nicest-- gym in southeast TX.

Maybe the Hawk hecklers will be in full force tonight, can't wait to see and I'm going to have to make some other games to get a more braud perspective.

well tonite nederlands fans were pretty loud it was intense...i dont kn w if they are like that all year but they are very loud and supportive

I will go a little farther back to the mid to late 70s and say Hebert had some of the of the best fans that old gym was a sweatbox the fans were right on top of you. They sure had some battles with Silsbee back in the day.

How do you define best fans, is it by booing the opposing the kids, is it talking trash to the other side, is it having the referees have to threaten to kick fans out, if that is the definition then by far HJ has the best of this category.  Whatever happened to going to the games and enjoying it.  Maybe I am just getting old but I remember when the game used to be about the kids not about seeing how rude you could be to the opposing team and fans.

if i recall correctly from last night the OF fans were the ones starting stuff and later mocking the HJ fans were their habitual putting up the number one on free throws and then later as the game progressed OF fans started coming to our side and then after we were winning big they left and then a single person came over and started talking noise.... to me it looks like the OF fans brought it upon themselves

as an outsider watching a friends kid play, it looked like both sides were at fault at times. OF fans did start to mock the HJ fans, but what do you think is going to happen when you make remarks when the OF kids are being introduced? and also chant things toward the officials like" take his whistle".  that was pretty good though, but it is going to cause people to react to you and mock you.  HJ has a great team and is real athletic. They are good. but i believe BOTH sides can take some blame.

Fans acting like idoits has been the trend for a while. I have heard  alot of times that the kids have bad attitudes well the apple does not fall far from the tree. There are rowdy fans at every school not just Orangefield and HJ. Last year a HJ fan screamed at a Orangefield girl when she got hurt"whats wrong things not going your way" then was clapping like she was happy because the kid got hurt. I know who she is and I could have blown the whistle because her action does not sit well with her profession. But I decided not to.When you get to that point you have crossed the line. What we need to do is film the parents at a ball game then show them. They would probably be embarrassed watching themselfs. Not to mention they are embarrasing the kids who are playing. Things are starting to get out of control. I dont have a problem with being loud and cheering for your team but show a little respect for one another. When you start yelling stuff at the kids on the court, then you have gone to far. You kind of expect that out of kids but not adults. My dad embarrassed me alot when I was young and I decided that I would never do that to my kids and I don't. My dad was a good man, he just got a little excited sometimes. Well actually alot of times. When you get escorted out of the ballpark by the police, thats not good. Its funny the things you remember as a kid.

I think everyone gets excited, I did not hear any fans or parents get bad during the HJ OF game, maybe I was at a different game or something, OF did have several kids come over to the visitor side, how do you expect to be treated when you go to the other teams side and start talking smack to a bunch of highschool kids, I never heard anything vulger or inappropriate at all they were just enjoying the game and supporting the team. Yes the booing was a little much. and wow sometimes their is one or two people that cross the line I saw it several times not just by HJ but others as well, I'm smart enough to know that I shouldn't sterotype all of O.F. by the actions of one or two. Some people just get caught up in the competition and forget it is just a game.

Good post poppabearstar. I agree with you. Kids will be kids. And really if you think about it only a handful of parents that get loud. Last year when our girls played in Hamphire a parent from Hamphire was removed by the police and our girls had to be excorted out after the game.And to be honest with you there should have been some Orangefield people excorted out also(during the game). This year was a different story. Nothing got out of hand and both side were fine. With Hamphire its more of a rivalry thing but thats starting to change. It goes way back to little dribblers. I do realize that it is the heat of the monent sometimes. I have some friends from HJ and HF that I met through little dribblers and they are super people. I guess my main point is, that every gym in the state of Texas or the United States is going to have fans that get rowdy every once in a while. Its magnetized in a gym because its indoors. I went to the WOS at HJ game and the HJ fans are crazy. When that game ended I couldnt even hear myself talk.

I'm telling you, it's the acoustics in that gym... the HF fans don't sound nearly as loud in somebody else's place... the Hardin Jefferson gym has a terrible noise problem - it's not the sounds of fans cheering that's bothersome, it's just the WAY everything sounds in there!

WH has great fan support that tends to go overboard at times.You would think they could see the more they yell at the refs. the worse things get.The refs. are gonna make mistakes on both sides,people need to lay off them and let them do their jobs and support the kids and dont blame the refs.

well from my opinion WH has the best fan club and cheering sections although since i am such a dedicated oiler fan i can't really say how everyone else's cheering goes. i don't think that anyone else should be able to either. evryone should be so dedicated to their own team than to go watch others yelling. i so understand if you are playing a team and recognize that. thanks HD for noticing our support for our team. no WH has not always been great and for truths used to not even be noticed. but you see now where we have came from and where we are going.

WHFAN I agree that the WH fans are good fans and I also agree that they may get to carried away. However, I also think that sometimes, with moderation something needs to be said about obvious bad calls.

They do care a lot about their team and support them well. If they would not complain a lot and just mention the calling from time to time, they may see better results.
