Hemphill 7 on 7!!

Recommended Posts

Hemphill played 2 games tonight in shelbyville...don't know the score but they played Shelbyville first and then lost to San Augustine.

San Augustine beat Center in their other contest. Timpson and Joaquin are the other schools participating in the league.

how did hemphill look?

Quarterback is a lefty that throws the ball pretty decent. Had one really big well built white kid that was decent.  No real game breakers at the wideout positions.  Lacking in athleticism but ran good routes, attempted to play technique on defense etc.  the game I watched them (San Augustine) they were just not near the level athletically

Pretty sure they play in a league on Monday nights in shelbyville...believe tonight would be the first night

Off topic but who is West Sabine goin with as their QB next year?
[/quote

Rashod Williams will be handling the QB duties for West Sabine im pretty sure. He is a Junior that has good speed and throw the ball well. He has been playing QB since Pee Wee so he is no stanger to the position. He wore #4 last year and played WR,]

On paper they have no gamebreakers, but they just keep grinding at you though and they wear you down. Don't forget the returning district defensive MVP in Hunter Cabral on that side of the ball, too. Plus SA has to take a step back this year because when you lose 19 or 20 seniors (total) on both sides of the ball who made major contributions. No knock on them just at a 1A level when you lose that much talent there is going to be a slight drop off the following season. And Alto is, well, Alto, and they always seem to reload rather than rebuild( the hire from within to replace Gardner should make the transition a bit smoother). This district will probably come down to the same three teams as last year (Alto, WS, and SA) with the Yellowjackets and the Tigers slugging it out for the district crown IMO. In spot duty last year Williams threw for close to 400 yds. and 6TD's for WS, so barring injuries I think the Tigers QB spot is settled for 2013.

I've heard rumor that Hemphill will be sticking with the spread this next year.
[/quote]
They are also sticking with 0-10 or 1-9.

I have heard they are sticking with a variation of the spread. It will all depend upon the personnel they have whether or not it will be run-heavy or pass-heavy. Hope they can compete this year, and I feel that Launius is bringing his winning pedigree with him. But, as one of my old coaches once said, you can't have a zoo if you don't have the animals(take from that what you may.......). I wish them well, mainly because working in Hemphill as I do I know one or two of the players.

    • I too, wish #15 was healthy and playing.  And also another RB (can't recall the #), who went down in the first game of the season. But, some others have stepped up and are hard runners.  I'm really looking forward to watching this game.
    • Still, from what little I saw, it should have been a much closer game.  WOS was missing some fundamentals on defense, and a lack of imaginative play calling on offense.  Just my opinion as an objective observer on Texan Live, which was horrible btw, but that's another story.
    • Either way,one game lead in the series. I rely to much on word of mouth
    • West Orange Stark has been a powerhouse since I csn remember. At some point, your bound to fall off to some degree. Alabama has 3 or 4 loses this season. Who would have thought? Has Orange lost kids to LCM or even Orangefield?
    • Interesting matchup this Friday. Both teams have very good offensive and defensive lines, which will make this game interesting. Having watched Texas High all season, they have a wide open offense with very good skill players. If you look at their stats they run the ball 57% of the time and pass 43% of the time. Personally, that is a bit deceiving, as most of their games have seen reserves running the ball in the 4th quarter. I would estimate the primary offense is 50/50. Through 12 games they have run for 3,224 yds (48tds) and passed for 2,894 yds (32 yds). Potter, the Tiger QB, has been very efficient with a 69% completion rate and 1 interception (which came from a tipped pass). The passing is distributed primarily to 4 receivers…. Ball (865), Wrightner (811), Montgomery (532), & Pilgreen (392). The rushing comes from 3 running backs … Johnson (1,432), Ball (768) & Moore (716).  The Tiger defense is solid and very quick.    Hope #15 is healthy enough to play. He is a test for any defense. I was concerned about the Nederland RB, but felt Texas High did a good job containing him. I wish this game was in the afternoon, as Nachitoches is having their Festival of Lights and their will not be any rooms in the inns and restaurants will be full so plan accordingly. PNG are state champions until someone knocks them off, so I extend the Indians the respect they deserve. Pulling for the Tigers.
