I am so happy with this pick. Appel was cleary the most talented player in this draft. I doubt he'll be up in July tho. There's no reason to bring him up. Let him develop a little first

Drafting Appel this year maked last years draft that much better. We were able to get the depth out of last years draft and still got the best player in either draft as well.

Awesome pick. Not sure if he will be in Houston by July like Harold Reynolds asserted, but he is pretty close to being MLB ready.

Was also happy for Hunter Dozier (8th pick by the Royals) from SFA. I worked a few years with his brother at RSS. Good people.

They didn't say that, Harold Reynolds did.  ;)
I could see him getting a Sept. call up just to get his feet wet.
No need to rush him with the current team. Not much difference between 100 losses or 105 losses.

He knew he wouldn't get any better, and I think Appel wanted to sign early.

I figured Boras had a deal to get him to the bigs quickly to get his clock started. Being a possible free agent top of the line starting pitcher at 28 or 29 could be worth hundred million or more. The younger a starting pitcher gets to free agency the better.
