Gametime5 Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Actually, in the year 2000, Brandon Morgan, catcher at Orangefield, was the Orange Leader MVP. Josey Kelley was Pitcher of the Year. Brandon is the nephew of 1974 Orange Leader MVP Paul Richardson. There is a long line of baseball success in that family. Paul Richardson was one of the first power pitchers in Orange with that big 90+ fastball and went on to pitch for McNeese. Brandon was a career .442 hitter at Orangefield and district home run leader with a 70% throwout of base stealers. He was the 1999 Orange Leader Newcomer of the Year and 2000 Orange Leader MVP. He committed to San Jac before his dad fell ill, and Brandon stayed home to be with him. There is also another member in this family, Chuck Richardson who pitched in West Orange. Chuck led West Orange to several victories pitching under legendary coach Ronnie Anderson. Chuck also played at McNeese. Congratulations to all MVPs. Lots of history in Orange County baseball.
