If Deweyville wants more respect in regards to being ranked, then they need to play someone besides the 1-A teams that they now play. Not saying that Deweyville is not a good team but it is hard to measure a team that plays mostly weaker teams.
There is some logic to your statement but hey have an outstanding senior class. They will be under the radar for many people this year. I dont know how far they will go but they ill be 10-0 going in.
10-0!! lmao! Deweyville had a loaded team last season, very talented and powerful. They may have missed their chance. D-ville lost 11 letterman to graduation, returning O/D:7/6. Big shoes to fill, lot of holes. I can't wait to hear from you when D-ville loses to 1A eventual 10-0 team Hull-Daisetta. HD is loaded just like the Pirates were last season.
The Only thing I am going to say right now is Deweyville will Destroy HD This year and you can take that to the BANK you talked trash last year before D-Ville played HD Than after we whipped yals A-- You had every excuse in the book why HD could not even stay on the field with the PIRATES Our JV players were in the game before half time ................
Y'all should be used to HD fans by now..they did the same thing before they played Kountze last year.. and Kountze easily beat them as well..

This is all funny to read. Neither team will make any noise in the playoffs so why do y'all care what they do to each other. HD don't sleep on those athletes at Kountze they are going to be a pretty good team with a lot of fast kids.

I'm not saying that HD will beat Kountze and Deweyville this year, because i think both those teams will be very good teams. Deweyville will be right there with Corrigan and Groveton and could easily be district champions. Kountze will slip into the playoffs in a stacked 2A-DI district with Newton and EC.

I do think that HD will give both teams all they can handle. The Bobcats will be improved and have a full year in Coach Finney's system and in Coach Huck's offense. HD suprised alot of people last year with their only losses being to 2A's Deweyville, Kountze, and Groveton before falling in the 2nd round to Alto. I do believe that HD has closed the gap on Deweyville and the Cats have a very good shot and beating the Pirates in Daisetta. HD dominated Groveton last year gaining 3 times as many yards, but a 95 yard fumble return and block punt returned for TDs sealed their fate and helped push the Indians to victory. HD will avenge that loss. Kountze is the one that scares me. The Lions return a ton of offensive talent and alot of speed. I think they will be better than they were last year. HD will have to slow the game down and get physical with Kountze while limiting the big plays.

I think HD wins 2 of these three games if not all three. Regardless of how it turns out, I promise HD will show up and the other team better be ready and not look at it as a 'lil 1A on the schedule marked as a win.

While I'm certainly not a Bobcats fan they certainly cannot be overlooked.  Even though they are classified as 1A they could compete in alot of 2A districts.  The Lavalais brothers along with several other talented returnees will be ready for whoever they play.

How did HD close the gap on DV? DV has a "full year" under their new coach and their highly talented Jrs are now Srs. Did HD almost win last year? DV is going to be much better. I am not sure how I ended in the DV camp but I have been waiting to see these kids in their Sr year for a while. Anyone who has been on the DV schedule has watched these kids and knew this was coming. Corrigan and Groveton will fair no better this year than last year. DV was the district champion last year and will improve significantly this year.

That's your opinion and that's fine. I do think Deweyville will have a quality team and will compete for the district title. (I actually think they will win it). The reason i say that HD has closed the gap is because I see HD being much better than they were last year. I'm not taking anything away from DV from last year because they handed it to HD, but if you remember correctly, that was a very unusual game. Deweyville recovered 3 or 4 onside kicks that game. The Pirates were up on HD 22-0 in the first quarter before HD touched the ball. I'm not saying that isn't part of the game, and that Deweyville didnt' earn those scores, because they most assuredly did. With that type or start, the HD kids got rattled and they were out of there comfort zone (credit again to DV). That's the equivilent to 4 turnovers in the 1st half in your own territory. It's tough to win any game doing that, much less against a quality team like Deweyville. The remainder of the game finished 29-26. The game was also played in Deweyville which anyone will attest is a very tough place to play. Tyler Drake was still at FB in that game and the offensive line hadn't sured up it's final lineup. Herman wasn't running the ball yet and Mosely wasn't in the lineup as a deep threat WR. HD returns 9 all-district defensive players and their top 5 leading rushers and top 3 leading receivers and thier 1st team all district quarterback on offense. Dupuy, Collins and Waldrep will be a handful and I think the Pirates beat out Corrigan and Groveton for the district championship. I think anybody that feels that this is an easy win for DV and that HD has no shot of winning is horribly wrong. This is a totally different team that Deweyville faced last year and they will see that soon. I could be wrong for sure, but I guess we'll see on Sept. 27th in Daisetta.

Tatum will be better than 5
Tatum has a lot of talent coming up.  Where would you have Tatum in the pre-season poll?
I think Tatum has the talent to deserve the ranking, but I wouldn't have them that high just yet.  More than likely Tatum's starting QB will be a Sophomore.  He is not experienced at the Varsity level but that don't really mean a lot.  The last Sophomore we had carried us to 3 straight title games.  Our QB will likely be J.D. Taylor.  He was ridiculous as an 8th grade and Freshman QB.  He can run, throw and is smart.  I know we are getting the high ranking based on coaching, tradition and the athletes we have in Tatum this year, but as of right now, I would feel more comfortable at around 7-8.  Don't get me wrong, I think we will be as good as anybody on the list, but I think it's going to take a little time.  Our defense could be really nasty..... nasty tuff

Hey DB, How will Jefferson do this yr?
They seem to always have talent, but can't get over the hump.
Coach Simmons should do a great job for them.

Hard to say.  They always have talent, sometimes they play good and sometimes they don't.  As of right now, not too many people are picking them to even make the playoffs even with a fourth team going.  I like Jefferson and hope they get in the mix.  I would rather see Jefferson make the playoffs than any of the other teams.  It's looking like this so far...

1. Tatum
2. White Oak
3. Troup/Harmony
4. Harmony/Troup
5. Jefferson
6. Sabine

Anything could happen, but Tatum is absolutely stacked with young talent at the skills and Srs at the lineman spots on both sides of the ball.

Deweyville should not be ranked because.'
Aug 31  DV vs Class 1a school
Sept 6 DV vs Class 1a school
Sept 13 DV vs Class 1a school
Sept 20 open
Oct 4 DV vs Class 1a school
district starts

This does not prepare you for the playoffs.
