Yeah Pinelandflash, I fully expect our game to be for the district championship.  I also don't think it's entirely out of the question for both of us to be 6-0 and possibly play each other again in round 4.  I think Shelbyville will be improved, SA will still be good, but their fans are dillusional if they think they are gone be as good as last year.  Grapeland as athletes/talent but would rather be on basketball court.  Cushing is Cushing.

I don't think Mart is going to be as dominate as some people are posting, lost a lot of really good players.

I was at the Alto game and it looked to me like Alto half heartedly played with HD. Everytim it was serious alto ran away from HD as exampled by the 21-0 lead to start the game. You're right. A team that was picked to finish last in "the worst district in the state", hites a great new coach, wins said district and nearly defeats a state ranked team in the playoffs. That team returns practically everyone from the previous years team and their fans are optimistic and plan on being better than the year before.

It was a good season for HD. Instead of finishing last in the weakest district in the state they finished 1st in the weakest district in the state. They still got there normal 1st round exit against teams in other districts.

HD can not help what district they are in!! If you think they are not that good, then you do not know football.

I know Coach Finney personally and his Bobcats are loaded with talent this year, and they are very good.
If anyone sleeps on HD this year in the playoffs, they are in for a quick exit and a long bus ride home.

The top 2 dogs in th region 3 lost some key cogs on the offensive line this past year.  They will both still be really good, but they aren't without question marks.  Behind them, it gets really interesting.

West Sabine graduated their QB and whether pineland folks want to admit it, they were only going to be as good as he was on a given night.  In that same district, San Augustine graduatd a lot, but don't sleep on them, by week 6 that youngness will have worn off and they could be a very dangerous team. Shelbyville has some young talent and a new coach, but I don't know if it is enough to catch the top 3.

In Mart's district, I think both Axtell and Bosqueville were senior laden teams and don't know much of anything about the others.  So district 11 may have a shot at a 1st round victory there.

District 9 is a complete toss-up.  Not a solid team in that district, not a horrible team either. 

District 11 I think hull-Daisetta should be the favorite and Colmesneil is probably the 2nd best team. 

If I was going to make predictions I'd say the bottom half of the bracket is represented by the district 10 or district 12 winner, who will meet in the 3rd round.  The top half of the bracket will be represented by the winner of district 11 or runner up in district 10, who will meet in the 2nd round.

Is it safe to assume that outside of Mart and Alto in 1A D1 it's wide open? Most of the time it isn't the best but the healthiest team that wins come playoff time, especially in 1A. District 10 has the top two teams returning nearly everyone (save Lacey at WS).How the new QB at WS (Williams) acclimates to the position and if LB Cabral can duplicate his 2012 season (168 tackles in 12 games)will likely determine who takes district 10, although Alto will be more than a handful for ANYONE to stop with Whitaker and Sturns in the backfield just to name a few, and don't count out SA as well. District 11 can be a crap shoot, with H-D as the class of that district, and district 9 has good teams top to bottom. That all being said, however, it is still just June 25th sports fans!

Unfortunately that scenario will not play out. Alto is going to crush the Wolves and West Sabine will handle them easily as well. San Augustine will be lucky to beat Shelbyville and get into the playoffs. HD will meet West Sabine in the 2nd round and it should be a great game.

I agree 100% that if HD ever had a year like SA just had all of the HD fans would be having parades in the streets. When is the last time that your football team went to the regional semi-final, the basketball team went to Austin, and the track team finished 2nd in state? Every sport, both boys and girls in the playoffs except for baseball with a .500 record.

Some unbiased person out there, please respond with what you believe you would see if HD had a similar year to SA in 2012-13.  ;D

SA would run HD off the field or court any year. HD could not field a varsity track team that could defeat SA's jr high. Does HD even have track or basketball? And before you go to your championship back whenever it was, SA has won the state championship much more recent. I think SA has defeated multiple teams who stomped HD as well (Alto, Deweyville, West Sabine). Win a playoff game in "A" sport then come find SA.
