Let’sGetAlong Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Nothing wrong with basketball players running cross country.

For being wrong all of the time, the kids have done fairly well. I know this is tough to swallow but I am still one of those old school guys ( you always say you are too) that believes the coaching staff is better prepared to evaluate and deal with a team than a poster on a message board.
stevenash Posted June 30, 2013 Report Posted June 30, 2013 Dang cross country did it again: SBG with Zjori Bosha and Sammy Mitchell (from cross country running HJ) defeated the Ozen squad today. Mr. Bosha had 19. Keep running, Zjori.

BLUEDOVE3 Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Yes, I do agree about the *multiple ways.* But, in Bosha's example from yesterday, the kid has been working on his ball handling and creating space from the defender. You don't learn that running cross country. You learn this in *DA GYM.* ;) ;) ;) ;)

At the same time, when those skills become critical late in the game or perhaps even overtime, it will benefit him more to have been in the gym and ran cross country.

BLUEDOVE3 Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 After speaking with one of the HJ (will go nameless) players yesterday, I didn't realize he had another year to play. I am now predicting HJ will be okay this year. For those of [s]us [/s]...errrr you who have been thinking their program is about to finally go down will have to wait once again. Again, HJ will be okay.

I think this is his time *this year.* You can tell the kid has put in a lot of work. I like to see that in players.
AggiesAreWe Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Nash, in your opinion, who is the better player, Zjori Bosha or Jordan Hunter?

stevenash Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013
Nash, in your opinion, who is the better player, Zjori Bosha or Jordan Hunter?
Honestly, the only time I ever saw Jordan play as a high school player was last year when Ozen scrimmaged at HJ in pre season play. He was plenty good then as a sophomore. I would imagine he has improved considerably since then. Therefore, I can't make a legitimate comparison ( not to mention the difficulty in keeping personal bias out of it) Based on what the colleges are doing, it would appear that Jordan has quite a bit more appeal. But, then again, Hondo Webb had more appeal to Lamar than Shawn Prudhomme did and that was very quickly proven to be a judgement error.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 As much as I hate to admit it, HJ will do good in district this year and once again make the playoffs :o ::) . NOW!!! When they get to 2nd round playoffs ( depending on when they face the mighty mighty Jack Yates Lions- representing 3rd Ward) it will once again be a similar conclusion ;D
