songone Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 Johnny Shaw from Center Roughriders (safety)... UT Commit transferred to WOS!! Big pick up!
football04 Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 Saw that on the news last nght that he had enrolled at WOS.
AthleticSupporter - Jock Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 Having not seen the news, can someone tell me whether or not this is for 'athletic' purposes???We all know that WOS is DBU, Defensive Back University.

The reason has not been determined. No word on if Center AD Goodwin signed off on Shaw or not but I am pretty certain he did. If that is the case (and I believe that to be) Shaw will have to sit out 15 days before he can suit up for the Mustangs. That would have him missing at least the first 2-3 games and maybe even the 4th game.If Goodwin did not sign off on Shaw (highly unlikely since Goodwin is a former WO-S coach, probably doesn't want to hinder Shaw's high school career and the transfer had nothing to do with athletics) then Shaw would have to play JV ball this year and play varsity next season since he is just a junior.
football04 Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 I don't know but if he is already commited to Texas why leave Center.

You only have to sit out 15days if you enroll after the 6th day of class. Page 32 of the uil football manual.
CCSFan Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 True AAW, as a guy who was a transfer student that is exactly correct.
tigerheart Posted August 6, 2013 Report Posted August 6, 2013 Shaw was originally from the Beaumont area but one of the hurricanes brought him north.

The transfer was for Shaw to be able to be with his mom. Coach Goodwin told me himself. Coach Goodwin signed off. No issues. Let the young man play.
stang4life Posted August 7, 2013 Report Posted August 7, 2013 Nice! WO-S has a amazing ability (well, their athletes) to have Mustangs step up each year to fill the previous year's void left by graduating seniors. We'll be fine either way, but welcome back Mr. Shaw. Keep the streak alive.
