adminbaberuth Posted August 6, 2008 Author Report Posted August 6, 2008 Bruce is a confident one Posted by JohnFay at 8/4/2008 10:32 PM EDT on Cincinnati.com Jay Bruce understands why Dusty Baker dropped him from third to sixth with left-hander Manny Parra pitching. "Dusty doesn't have any evidence otherwise," Bruce said. "But I'll have no problem hitting left-hander. . . it's a matter of time." Bruce ended hitting a two-run homer off of Parra in the sixth. It was his 10th of the year and third in four games. "He's using the whole field," Baker said. "To hit a home run to left off a lefty is a good sign." Bruce is on an eight-game hitting streak. He's 10-for-28 (.357) with three home runs and five RBI. For the record, Bruce came in hitting .188 with no homers off lefties inthe 80 at-bats. Quote

cleanup13 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 UPDATE ON PNG 2008 GRADUATES JON CARNAHAN AND MITCH TOOD: TAKEN FROM THE "PASS IN REVIEW", WINTER 2008 PUBLISHED BY MARION MILITARY INSTITUTE BASEBALL LOOKS PROMISING FOR UPCOMING SPRING The 2008-2009 MMI baseball roster is officially full with 35 players set to start play on January 30. With the end of fall practice upon us, the players are excited about the opportunities awaiting them this spring. This year's squad will feature 10 returning players from the 2008 team and 25 new faces to MMI. A goal for the coaching staff of Brett Davis and Jake Wells was to improve in all areas, especially in pitching and defense. Both areas should be improved with sophomores Stepen Grady, Robert Brown and Jeremiah Cothiere set to lead the staff. Key freshman pitchers will include Jordan Langley, Mitch Todd , and Chris Allen. The offense should also make a jump from the 2008 team which hit .325 last season while leading the North Division in stolen bases. Leading hitters from last year are Kyle Ely and Tyler Hollis with Newcomers Chris Allen, Jon Carnahan Roberto Castillo, and Jarius Brown looking to make big impacts at the plate this season. Quote
