Freshman will start around 5:00 with the JV and varsity to follow. Always a great matchup for these two teams to start the season off. Ladies and gentlemen, TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IS AMONG US! Last year Silsbee scored at will on Newton, it's going to be fun to see how things go this year. This is the first time both teams get to hit some else.
Back2swag Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013 Yes I remember after this scrimmage last year someone predicted EC to beat Newton .. he the kinda guy that gets all hyped up over a scrimmage .
ChampionEagles Posted August 16, 2013 Report Posted August 16, 2013
Yes I remember after this scrimmage last year someone predicted EC to beat Newton .. he the kinda guy that gets all hyped up over a scrimmage .
Seems I remember the same thing. I also remember which team was still playing after one of these teams was eliminated in the playoffs last year. And EC was a better team than the score showed when they played Newton. But a scrimmage is just that, a scrimmage. No one should get overly excited other than to hear the sound of those pads popping once again. :)
Back2swag Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 I seen Newton score 3 seen Silsbee score 0
ChampionEagles Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Silsbee has the numbers and the size from the 9th grade through varsity. Newton stood toe to toe though and matched anything Silsbee could do from what I saw. Silsbee's varsity QB is good, but did not make but one long pass play that scored. After the first series where he ran all over Newton, the Newton defense stiffened and Silsbee had little consistent play. Newton scored with two long runs and an intercepted pass. They were still running the 2nd team when I left. That was my take on varsity. Silsbee and Newton 9th and JV both seemed pretty equal. Newton outscored the 9th grade of Silsbee and I believe also the JV.
NewtonNation Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Newton 5 TD's to Silsbee 1 TD is the report I got.

And I mean smoked!!

BADSANTA Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 hope everyone came out injury free in this scrimmage.
BADSANTA Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Anyone from silsbee see the game? Sounds like Newton is #1 for a reason. Silsbee still got some work to do before week zero.
purpleeagle Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 SOPH. NEWTON 3 TD'S SILSBEE 0JV. NEWTON 1 TD, SILSBEE I TDVARSITY NEWTON 4 TD'S SILSBEE 1 TD.NEWTON HAD TWO KEY STARTERS OUT, BOTH ALL DIST. ONE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN AND ONE DEFENSIVE LINEMAN. BOTH ARE GOING MONDAY TO HAVE MRI'S ON THEIR KNEES.REMEMBER THIS IS A SCRIMMAGE AND TEAMS PLAY ALL PLAYERS IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THEM. SCORE MEANS NOTHING.SILSBEE IS A VERY GOOD TEAM AND I WISH THEM THE BEST OF LUCK THROUGHOUT THE SEASON.
Guest EagleFan01 Posted August 17, 2013 Report Posted August 17, 2013 Only one of Newtons players got an MRI and that was today he will get results Monday. The other kid out was the DL he played a few snaps but he had a leg strain he is fine should play next week. Newton did get a pick 6 on defense to so that's 5 scores
