Central's first helmets were white with maroon Chicago "C" on the side they had the grey face mask and a then maroon strip down the middle

I came across a bunch of helmets from the 1980s but can't confirm the year. Including Central.
Central, Kelly, Orangefield, Nederland

[/quote]The Central helmet that you just posted looks like the one described by bcjag10's previous post...  Now that I think about it, I faintly remember seeing that helmet as a kid...
