Strong Coaching Pedigree

Texas finally wins a game against and overrated WVU (who have they beaten?) and now they are progressing - but Texas fans seem to have a short memory - did not they lose 23 - 0 to a good team (not overrated)?

I have always stated that Strong was a good hire - but Texas has not been even close to the team that most predicted pre-season - Strong still has a long way to go to get Texas back into the NC chatter.

I only remember back to 1963, our first NC.

I am not sure now. It may have been a dream. It is always on the LN.  :P  :P  :P  :P

Infatuated with Texas A&M Much?

ta&m, where the women are champions and the men are cheerleaders.

Seems to me you might want to be more concerned about your own team right now!

I like the new WR coach, Revell.

Has impressive resume. I hope it will translate to more production at the WR positions.

Worst WR production in the last 10-15 years. I saw the players. I do not see the plays.

Of coarse better QB play will mean better WR play, but at times, the WR's need to pick up the QB and catch the "not so perfect" pass and then do something YAC.

Better OL, WR, RB, TE, and QB play will be required for better offensive production in 2015.

Also better defensive play will be required for better offensive production in 2015.

@CBSSportsCFB: LOOK: Charlie Strong has two live tiger cubs competing for a staring job in his office at Texas

This is the hidden content, please

Just great, no freaking QB and a coach who's hit a mid-life crisis.

Two tiger cubs fighting in coach's office is probably breaking some NCAA/Power 5/SEC rule.

Du'Vonta Lampkin says transcript incomplete, but will UT let signee go?

By Brian Davis - American-Statesman Staff
June 1, 2015 @ 8:31 p.m.

Recruiting is full of wild, almost unbelievable stories. The curious tale of Du'Vonta Lampkin is, shall we say, loco.

The defensive tackle from Houston Cypress Falls appears to be tanking his
academics just to avoid playing for the Longhorns. Only Texas might not
let him go as freely as he hopes.

When contacted Monday by the American-Statesman, Lampkin said, "I'm not trying to do any interviews."

Asked whether his transcript was incomplete, Lampkin said, "Yeah, that's true."

Asked whether he was indeed looking to land at Oklahoma, he said, "Hey, I got to go, man." Click.

Whether the three-star lineman stays with his Texas pledge, heads to OU or goes
elsewhere is a total mystery. The only thing certain is that as of
Monday, Lampkin had not been released from his Texas letter of intent.

"Charlie (Strong) and I haven't sat down and talked about it yet," Texas men's
athletic director Steve Patterson told the American-Statesman. "Once we
get a chance to talk, we'll look at it."

This all began Saturday when Lampkin tweeted an out-of-the-blue apology to Texas fans that he
wouldn't be on campus this fall. "Texas will always be in my heart but
theres (sic) certain obstacles i have to face!" he tweeted.

The Cypress Creek Mirror reported that he still had to complete a Spanish
course to fulfill his foreign language requirements. Lampkin told the
newspaper he didn't want to risk failing the Spanish course and have to
enroll in junior college.

"If anything, I may land at Oklahoma," Lampkin told the Mirror. "So, as soon as everything dials down, I'm
going to contact (Bob) Stoops and see if they have any scholarships
available for me."

According to the National Letter of Intent program rules, if an athlete is denied admission to the university, then
he or she is free to go elsewhere without penalty.

The Texas admissions office could delay a decision for weeks, possibly months, and
that could keep Lampkin sidelined through August training camp. Or he
could even be given provisional entry status at UT. If that happened,
all NLI penalty rules come into play, and he could lose a year of
eligibility.

And according to NCAA rules, coaches at other schools are not allowed to speak with players signed elsewhere.

Adios. If he don't want to be there, go somewhere else.

I completely agree.  It does raise an interesting issue in my mind though.  Why are we okay with players changing their minds on commitments or transferring but get so upset when a coach pulls an offer or doesn't renew a scholarship?  Shouldn't that knife cut both ways?  Full disclaimer - I am as guilty as the next guy with the double standard.

I am not mad at the kid.

Once he commits, the university is obligated to keep their commitment IMO. Not for 1 year, but for 4 years.

    • I too, wish #15 was healthy and playing.  And also another RB (can't recall the #), who went down in the first game of the season. But, some others have stepped up and are hard runners.  I'm really looking forward to watching this game.
    • Still, from what little I saw, it should have been a much closer game.  WOS was missing some fundamentals on defense, and a lack of imaginative play calling on offense.  Just my opinion as an objective observer on Texan Live, which was horrible btw, but that's another story.
    • Either way,one game lead in the series. I rely to much on word of mouth
    • West Orange Stark has been a powerhouse since I csn remember. At some point, your bound to fall off to some degree. Alabama has 3 or 4 loses this season. Who would have thought? Has Orange lost kids to LCM or even Orangefield?
    • Interesting matchup this Friday. Both teams have very good offensive and defensive lines, which will make this game interesting. Having watched Texas High all season, they have a wide open offense with very good skill players. If you look at their stats they run the ball 57% of the time and pass 43% of the time. Personally, that is a bit deceiving, as most of their games have seen reserves running the ball in the 4th quarter. I would estimate the primary offense is 50/50. Through 12 games they have run for 3,224 yds (48tds) and passed for 2,894 yds (32 yds). Potter, the Tiger QB, has been very efficient with a 69% completion rate and 1 interception (which came from a tipped pass). The passing is distributed primarily to 4 receivers…. Ball (865), Wrightner (811), Montgomery (532), & Pilgreen (392). The rushing comes from 3 running backs … Johnson (1,432), Ball (768) & Moore (716).  The Tiger defense is solid and very quick.    Hope #15 is healthy enough to play. He is a test for any defense. I was concerned about the Nederland RB, but felt Texas High did a good job containing him. I wish this game was in the afternoon, as Nachitoches is having their Festival of Lights and their will not be any rooms in the inns and restaurants will be full so plan accordingly. PNG are state champions until someone knocks them off, so I extend the Indians the respect they deserve. Pulling for the Tigers.
