Niko received an offer from TCU yesterday and jumped on board to be a Horned Frog.  Patterson now has 16 commitments already this year.

Xzaviar Campbell of Bellaire HS picked up his offer at the Katy Camp recently. He stands out at 6'0" 213lbs who rushed for 1083 yards and 12 TDs last year plans on visting TXST in the next 2 weeks.

"I think July 8th is when I'm supposed to visit up there. If everything goes like I expect and planned and this is where I want to be and I'm comfortable with it, then I'll make a decision." - Campbell

Commitment #5 is in the books Nick Bingham commits to the Bobcats.

"I knew from the start that I really wanted to come to Texas State. I just needed to talk to my parents and make sure they were okay with it." - Bingham

I love the way this kid plays with a mean streak.  He can make the cuts , but as you will notice in the video, if there's one defender between him and the goal post, he's going to taking the running over approach.

Keep us posted on how Bingham does.  He is a little bigger than Lamar's freshman running back last year from Kingwood Tx Kade Harrington who ran for right at 900 yds last year.  He is 5'9" and 185lbs but has really good quickness, cuts and vision.  He was a real surprise last year.  Bingham could be a sleeper for you guys!!!

Will do but it will probably be at least 2 years (barring injuries to depth) before he sees the field.   Texas State is very deep and talented at the RB Position.  The current starter 5'10" 200lb Robert Lowe ran for 945 yards on 164 carries as a Sophomore.  That was splitting carries with 5'8" 185lb Chris Nutall who ran for 477 yards on 83 carries as a Sophomore also.  We also have CJ Best who is down right shifty just like his brother Javhid Best who plays for the Lions.  Texas State plans on using him in their new up-tempo offense this year as a slot wr/rb.

Here are some Highlights of all 3:

Here's a picture of Texas State's Stadium after what I believe is 2 phase completed.  It brings it to around 30,000 but don't hold me to that.  This games attendance was well over 30,000 because temporary bleachers were brought in to accommodate the demand.

Here is a rendering of the final master-plan.  Can't tell you when completion will happen on this or what the capacity will be at.  Plus I'm sure there could be changes before it takes shape, but this is the plan for now.  Right now the latest Capital funding plan is claiming approval for South End Zone expansion of $24,000,000.  I've seen 2015, as well as, TBD dates thrown around; 8-10 years seems more likely.

By the looks of things, this would get it about 40k in capactiy, maybe a little more.  That is my guess.  LU has a master plan on PU Stadium that would get it to about 30k seating. But it does not have the room to expand much beyond that with the Montagne being on the North End Zone.

6'4" 240 Kenneth Mann of Burleson HS is claiming to have a lot of interest in Texas State despite several offers from other big time programs such as Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest, California, Connecticut, New Mexico, Tulsa, Memphis, Houston, and many more.

"I like Texas State. I like Coach Bedell, he's pretty cool. I was thinking about taking that visit. It's probably only a 3-4 hour drive."

On what he's looking for in a program....."That they offer my major. I want to go to a big school, but a small campus feel. Really family oriented."

Per a couple of Twitter feeds these players are claiming offers.  I will follow up and see who's legit.  Probably put a stamp on Josh Uluocha, he was next in line if Tyrell Thompson committed elsewhere.

Spencer Choka MLB 6'0" 218lbs (Rudder HS)
Joshua Uluocha DE/DT 6'3" 267lbs (Stafford HS)
Xzaviar Campbell RB 6'0" 205lbs (Bellaire HS)
Cade Erwin WR 5'11" 180lbs WR (Flower Mound Marcus HS)

Cade Erwin committed to UNT back on Monday

Also just a heads up:

5'10" 180lb Aldine Eisenhower DB Rodney Veasey is expect to be a Bobcat as soon as he gets cleared on a hand injury.  Bobcats  plan to offer once everything checks out and Rodney has already claimed he really wants to be a Bobcat.  He is currently reporting an offer from UTSA.

Graham's Dustin McWhorter is also close to making a decision.  He has two camps left at TCU and UNT.  A UNT offer is already on the table and it looks like it's going to come down to TXST and UNT unless TCU offers.

Commit #6 landed last night with Denton Guyer running back Anthony Taylor (5-10, 185). Last year
he put up 1096YRDs and 19TDs with 139 carries. He is currently not ranked and only has 1 offer from TXST. It will be interesting to see if we can hold on to him before NSD, as his stock is sure to rise. He is the 2nd RB commit of this class and it looks like TXST is filled up at this position for 2015.

6'4" 300lb  5 STAR D-tackle Kendell Jones of Killeen Shoemaker made a SURPRISE visit to Texas State's camp a couple of weeks back with teammate and TXST target Diamon Cannon.

Jones who is rated by Scout.com National Recruiting Analysts as the best player in the State of Texas for 2016 and currently the 4th best player in the Nation.

You can bet the farm that he has an offer from the Texas State staff, but it's a HUGE mountain to climb and logical to think he will end up in SEC country. According to his Coach who made the visit with Jones & Cannon, he has upward of 30 offers.

Kudos goes D-Tackles Coach Kyle Tatum for getting him to make the visit.

6'5 285-pound OT Evan Curl of Flower Mound HS paid a visit to Texas State last Friday.  Here's what he had to say per Scout article:

"It was a real good visit, I was really impressed with their facilities and overall I was really impressed with Texas State," said Curl. "Texas State is really growing and it would be nice to stay close to home."

" I am looking for a school that has a good package of academics and football. I want a program that will push me," said Curl. " As an athlete all you do is compete and strive to be your best. At Texas State I would have some tough games and will have to push myself to compete at a high level."

Tyler Moore 6'5" 310 lb Galena Park North Shore Linemen recently visited Texas State.  He's currently the 8th ranked center in the Nation.  He is P5 conference material, but just getting him to Texas State's campus is always a positive.

"My visit was nice. I really like the campus and how they have a river in the middle of it. We got there while camp was going on, we got to look around and see the coaches in action. We toured campus afterwards and got plenty of 1 on 1 time," said Moore.

Moore currently has nine offers, with programs such as Texas, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Oregon State, Texas State and others vying for his commitment

Word on the street in San Marcos is Ex Galena Park North Shore QB Micah Thomas is transferring to TXST from Utah.  It doesn't look like he was able to nail down the starting position this spring.

2012 first-team all-District 21-5A quarterback ... Houston Chronicle Top 100 Recruit ... passed for 849 yards and six touchdowns, and rushed for 734 yards on 92 carries (7.98 average) and 10 touchdowns as a senior ... averaged 106.1 passing yards and 91.8 rushing yards per game in 2012 ... 656 passing yards and 576 rushing yards his junior year ... team captain led North Shore High to the 2012 Region 3 final ... also lettered three years in track ... made the Texas High School all-state academic second team and all-region academic first team ... honor society.
