JRidge Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Will BISD do what's right by hiring a good/commited coach for the talented Ozen Panthers? Everyone's talking about Ozen's struggles but 10 scholarships signed and there is comparable talent still there. Can the playing field be made equal by doing the right thing? Dang! Quote
AHUDDLESTON Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 I hear Jason Speights is interested. Great young coach who has proved himself as a defensive coordinator and would be good for Ozen. Quote
Mr Davis Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 Those kids need that!!! We have enough talent in Beaumont for all of the schools to put quality on the field every Friday!!! Let's get it done BISD!!!! Quote
panther blue Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 I agree, JRidge and Mr Davis, too many good athletes and talent for their football program not to be better than what it is. Seems as if, BISD is dragging their feet on getting a good quailty coach, sabotage. JMO. Mr Davis 1 Quote
OLDGREGG Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Ozen can be pretty dang salty with the right coach. Hope they find em a good one Quote
purpleeagle Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 I would say that a used car salesman would fit in good with that school district. Quote
setxguru Posted March 16, 2014 Report Posted March 16, 2014 Been out of town for the last two weeks and I am not sure if an applicant list has been put in the newspaper. If anybody has that info can you please post it? Thank You Mr. Buddy Garrity 1 Quote
badndn Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 I think with the hiring of Coach Foreman at Central last year the BISD proved that they can and will find a good coach...Bigger question for BISD will allways be "Can they keep a good coach?" I think with the BISD policy on paying it's HC the same at each school and not having AD's at each school they will continue to have to hire assistant coaches as HC, but with a little research thats not allways a bad thing. Of course with these policies it makes it tuff to keep those guys around once they have tasted success. Trocket and Mr. Buddy Garrity 2 Quote
outanup Posted March 17, 2014 Report Posted March 17, 2014 Dont see alot of proven head coaches applying for this job......The talent is there but so is the coaching carousel. Could be a good opportunity for a newbie, if given the time to establish a program. Quote

Push the applaud button ). I'll wait for you to respond... Quote
ozensfinest Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Man I keep hearing from reliable sources that Stowers has applied for the job. But my senses tell me he's making too much money to take a job at BISD. Quote
BMTSoulja1 Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 OF, I heard he was relieved of his duties at Little Elm. Quote
understand Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Stowers not coming they start the interviews tomorrow Quote
ozensfinest Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 OF, I heard he was relieved of his duties at Little Elm. Dang, welp my sources maybe true then. However it did take stowers a while to get Central rolling(If i remember correct) Ozen needs a guy who's gonna make noise immediately he would have the talent to do it. However, I wouldn't be mad to see him get the job. Quote

His first year (hurricane shortened season), he turned the program around instantly and won the district championship after a couple of early season losses. Did good in the playoffs after losing to a VERY good 2005 Brenham team staring a future blue chipper qb. (i forgot that kid's name). So if Stowers comes, there will be instant impact. Quote

BLUEDOVE3 Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 So what specific traits does this new coach need to have to be successful at Ozen? Quote
Bigcam2903 Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 So what specific traits does this new coach need to have to be successful at Ozen? True Character, something the entire District lacks from top to bottom. SMH Quote

Wait that was stowers first year? That season was a little crazy because of the hurricane, I remember my junior year (07-08) central was terrible though. But the next year they went on a deep run out of nowhere. Quote

Yeoj Posted March 18, 2014 Report Posted March 18, 2014 Stowers applied for a job every year football seaon ended. He couldn't get out of here fast enough. IMO Stowers would be a horrible hire and Ozen would be in this same boat inside three years. I think Ozen should find a relatively young and up and coming head coach with SETX ties and the ability to connect with his players. Quote
